Quinstance is a shop dedicated to the idea that the people who make goods should be the people who benefit from the sale of those goods. With that in mind, we buy products whenever possible directly from those whose hands have produced them: glass, soap, handbags, stationery, clothing, toys and candles.

We carry 90% American-​made products, but we reserve the other 10% for fair trade goods to support artisans around the world — largely women — who are trying to change their lives and their children’s lives through craft and trade.

And we believe everyone needs a little something to get through the day, something that makes you happy when you use it, put it on or look at it. That’s a quinstance!

History

Established in 2015.

We opened the store in June 2015 at the new 3^rd Ave development in Burlington. We are excited to have joined this vibrant new shopping and dining destination!

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Erin Sandler founded Quinstance after abandoning a PhD program in English literature. The idea behind Quinstance was to build a store full of items that bring comfort and meaning to people’s lives. As she began meeting dozens of American makers who are putting their hearts, hands and heads into their craft work all over the country, she decided to make a commitment to them and their vision. As a result, Quinstance focuses on handmade objects from real people, whose stories we’re happy to share with you.
