I bought my first car back in August and don’t know much about anything when it comes to maintenance… I could tell by the looks of it though, that big, orange exclamation point was NOT a good thing. One of my tires was low on air. I needed gas as well so on my way home from picking my daughter up from school we stopped at the SA across the street. Calm down. Bought the gas and saw they were charging $ 1.00 for air? F that. I drove closer to home and saw the Burnsville Auto Repair that I pass every morning when I’m checking out their low gas prices. They have FREE air. Someone helped me fill up my tire (not an employee, someone who was also using the free air) and I went inside to buy a tire gauge. Having newly learned that each tire should have approx. 40 lbs. of pressure, I felt a little like I knew what I was doing… Henry, the man behind the counter, let me borrow a pressure checker. He is awesome. Super friendly and looks/​sounds like Morgan Freeman! Seriously, I don’t know why this company isn’t using him for their commercials or promotional advertising… they are letting talent languish behind a counter… Anyway, got my tires pumped up and Henry even let me keep the thing-​a-​ma-​jig! Unless him doing that was a bad thing… in which case I would be more than happy come back and pay for it PLUS buy all my gas there from now on! I got a little grease on my hands and felt kinda like a mechanic… Thanks guys!

Super friendly, affordable & fast. I got there at 730 for my oil change and was home by 8. I just moved here from out of state and found these folks on Google — so glad I did! They are a full service place which is important to me since my car has over 100k miles on it. I will definitely be back!

Honest, friendly bunch. They are family owned and operated, and it shows in the service. I’ve been going for years with at least four cars and I’ve never been disappointed.

Great for oil changes, but I wouldn’t trust them for any repairs

An update to my ⁵⁄₁₄ review: Yesterday I spoke with owner Perry who was very friendly, politely chalked my experience up to a misunderstanding, and refunded the unauthorized $ 89.95 brake flush to my credit card as I asked.
(And I don’t know his true character, but Perry was at least a smart enough businessman to not throw me or Tom under the bus; blaming me would have made me irate and badmouthing employee Tom would have left a tacky taste in my mouth.)
Being a good Minnesotan, I’m going to give them a three-​star «A-​OK» rating with the hope that my problem really was a fluke… but I still have a couple pieces of advice:
1) Get everything in writing before work begins. That’s good advice in general, of course, but we get comfortable and think we can let it slide; not at Burnsville Auto Repair.
2) Be prepared for a good series of up-​sells. Not just «friendly advice,» but pushing the sale. If your luck is better than mine they’ll take «No» for an answer, but even when paying my bill I had to pass on the transmission flush (featuring the «here’s your transmission fluid compared to the pretty red color it ought to be» display) and the replacement of the «really dirty» air filter. (Thanks; I’ll look for myself and swing by NAPA next time I’m out.) Yet Tom didn’t mention the oil leaking out of the 200k-​mile engine gaskets from my «doesn’t have more than a few thousand miles left in it before something really major goes wrong» car, so I’m not sure how closely they were paying attention when they were under it.
After all that, why three stars and not fewer? PRICE. Even without the value of the coupon I had, their basic brake job was close to $ 50 less than their neighboring competitor. And even if we factor in cost of the brake flush I said I didn’t want, I suspect the final bill came close or under what others would have charged without a flush.
If you’re looking for a budget fix for your car, can stay on top of making sure they do only what you want them to do, and don’t mind rebuffing hard sells, you might get a great deal at Burnsville Auto.
