Gotta love an entire store of crafting ideas waiting to be created. This is my typical go-to store for all things crafty and creative. I needed a canvas to modge podge a poster I newly bought. There were plenty of options, and I had to fight myself not to buy the 3 pack. «Why do you need 3 canvases?, I asked myself. Anyways, I would recommend this place for decorating your office, all things photo framing, knitting supplies, jewelry supplies, fake flowers and holiday décor. This place is like Kohl’s, never buy here without a coupon. If you don’t have one, ask at the checkout. Typically it could save you 20% off one item. I also have pulled up coupons on my phone from their Sunday ads online. Don’t forget to checkout the $ 1 – 3 bins of «I think I might need these» items. It’s kinda like Target’s deal bins when you first walk in.

I’m not crafty, but I like to paint and there aren’t any serious art supply stores in the area, so I went to Michael’s a couple of days ago. Prices. I will say that Michael’s has a lot of great sales. For decent frames, it’s the best spot to shop and they have coupons(though I’m not organized enough to find them before I go) that are worth printing out or grabbing from the Sunday paper. Overall, I’d say the sale prices — since there are so many — make the prices quite decent. Merchandise. Like Kmart, Michael’s doesn’t seem to feel the need to put prices on everything and things are hard to find in general. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason as to where things are put back — which could very well be the fault of shoppers, but there should be staff to put things back. Overall, the place seems like nobody cares for it and it’s never updated or cleaned properly, it’s just rather sad. Service. The people at the registers were friendly enough, but there simply isn’t any staff on the floor to provide service, never mind any sort of expertise to consult aside from whoever is in charge of their depressing silk floral arrangements. Whoever is responsible for those should join us from being stuck in the early seventies! Overall. I’ll likely return to get supplies that I’d otherwise have to drive to Blick’s in Edina for, but Michael’s is one of those stores I doubt anyone looks forward to being in — customers and employees alike it seems.
