Mathconnex Tutoring Center

We turned to Mr. Nigel over a year ago after tutoring at one of the big-​name centers was a complete disaster. My child was struggling (often unsuccessfully) to maintain a C in math. She simply didn’t think she could do it.
One year later she’s an honor roll student with a solid B («this» close to an A!) in pre-​algebra! I credit Mr. Nigel’s consistent tutoring and encouragement. He’s part math tutor, part cheerleader, part community organizer.
Besides tutoring my daughter, Mr. Nigel believes in supporting the community. Math Connex is a key sponsor of our PTSA, supporting several key events. He brought pizza to Back to School night, provided breakfast for our first Grandparents Day, donated water and made 100 t-​shirts for our breast cancer run — and hosted a free study skills workshop for students during our winter parent education forum.
If my 11-​year-​old son were writing this review, he’d tell you how much fun he had at camp last summer. He did a week of robotics and BEGGED to go back! He also did a week of digital arts. We’re still laughing at that movie trailer the kids produced, shot and edited!
The day that really made me appreciate Nigel was the day my son got a not-​so-​good phone call home from a teacher and ended up in tears in my car. Nigel noticed as we were dropping my daughter off for tutoring, and took him aside for 15 – 20 minutes to help him deal with the issue. Mind you, my son is NOT Nigel’s student — but he took time anyway to help a child who was clearly in need of some tough love from someone other than mom. That’s the day I really realized how dedicated he is.
So you see, we’re getting a LOT more than just math tutoring from Math Connex. Nigel and his team are PARTNERS IN EDUCATION!

Mr. Nigel and his staff are some of the best tutors/​mentors around. After trying a private one-​on-​one tutor and then Kumon, I am so thankful to have finally found Mr. Nigel.
He has been more than a tutor to my son, he is a great mentor as well; encouraging him to shoot for the stars, teaching him through story-​telling, sharing funny stories from back home in Guyana – Mr. Nigel is both firm and warm at the same time.
Their old-​school approach (teach the basics, reinforce the basics, build on the foundation, move on to the next level) combined with their thorough knowledge of the state standards and expectations is refreshing. My son’s grades are steadily improving and my son now has more confidence in his abilities.
Oh, the movie trailer that they produced during camp was the highlight of his summer last year; he just couldn’t stop talking about it!:-)
I highly recommend Math Connex for tutoring & mentoring, not just for math and reading, but for any subject with which you are having difficulties.
And one more thing – they also mentor adults too!;-)
