History
Established in 2012.
The story of the Historic Barns of Nipmoose harks back to the 18th century when the Nipmoose Farm was first established. The Persistence Foundation, a not-for-profit that was formed in 1996 to help conserve farmland and preserve agricultural heritage, purchased the farm in 2000. The barns, comprised of the Scottish Barn, German Barn and Corn Crib, which date from the 18th and 19th centuries, have been fully restored by skilled craftsmen and showcase the talents of America’s early builders and the beauty of the timber framed structures of the past. Since 2012 the Historic Barns of Nipmoose have had the honor of sharing its agricultural treasure with numerous wedding and event goers.
Meet the Manager
Constance K.
Manager
Constance founded The Persistence Foundation (TPF) out of her determination to help conserve farmland and preserve agricultural heritage. The Foundation’s work has been focused primarily in townships of the northeastern section of the Hudson River Valley. These communities, whose landscapes have been so charmingly depicted by painters of the Hudson River School as well as the renowned folk artist, Grandma Moses, are in danger of losing their cultural heritage as well as their base of farmland. The most significant undertaking of TPF has been the restoration of the Historic Barns of Nipmoose, through which Constance is able to share her passion for preserving agricultural heritage and farmland with others. The rental fees collected for Historic Barns of Nipmoose events directly support The Persistence Foundation.
