The best vets and staff. I have been using this clinic for 5 years. They are the nicest, friendliest staff I’ve ever met and I have met many, having had pets for more years than I care to state! Dr. Tyneway is, without a doubt, the finest veterinarian, in both traditional and holistic veterinary medicine. She not only sits on the floor with her patients but diagnostically she is brilliant. Her compassion for pets and their family is incomparable. Finding excellent holistic care is difficult at best, but to have someone like this in my own area, someone familiar with all modalities, is just a miracle. The dedication of Dr, Tyneway and her staff, kept my Leonberger alive 3 years past their normal life span. Thank you with all my heart.

Such a shame, Doctor here is great but her staff and the way the place is run is a horror. Twice traveled an hour there to be turned away when I had an appointment. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! Poo poo to them.

We love Dr. Tyneway and Dr. Lane. We brought our 8 month old husky shepherd mix to them after he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Another vet had put our dog on a steroid anti-​inflammatory and he was having lots of side effects (eventually this medication would cause his health to disintegrate because it’s not meant for long term) and worst of all, he wasn’t able to walk at all. Dr. Lane prescribed the perfect schedule of supplements and an injection and by this miracle, he started to walk again. We are so grateful that our pup had been able to have his life back.
Customer service is wonderful! We come here once a week to have them administer his injection and even our dog loves coming here (despite the fact he has to get a shot every time). They also have us a referral for a surgeon that I’ve heard really great things about from folks in the area. I defintely recommend checking this place out and scheduling a consultation with one of the Drs.

I can’t comment on the veterinary care here, because I didn’t actually get that far. But I can comment on their customer service. I walked in wanting some more information, and to have a chat with the vet before I brought my dog in. My dog has severe back pain and doesn’t travel well. Being a vet student myself, I wanted to speak with the vet about my dog’s specific condition and if she has successfully treated it with alternative holistic methods before. I wanted to get this chat out of the way before I brought my dog in, perhaps unnecessarily, since traveling is so difficult for him. I relayed all this information to the front desk, and said that the vet could call me at her convenience.
The only answer I got from the girl at the front desk was «you need to make an appointment and bring your dog in.» I attempted to repeatedly explain that travel with him is very painful and difficult and wanted to make sure that a trip in wouldn’t be for nothing, and asked if the vet could give me a call. She replied with «the vet won’t just call random people who aren’t clients.» Well I really wanted to be a client, but definitely not anymore. I love the idea of a holistic vet, but you guys need to up your customer service, especially when it’s in the best interest of the animal.

I absolutely love this place, our family has taken two of our dogs here, the first one received acupuncture. The second one is for my two year old dog, Chello who was diagnosed last May with chronic kidney failure. We began treatment at another location and she was given three weeks to live. Happy to say Chello is still alive and licking. The techs are very helpful and very knowledgeable, they are good with the animals. Through a very informative first session we were able to determine that eliminating «normal» dog food would most likely help and it did. Throughout the last few months we have added different herbs and supplements depending on Chellos lab values. I appreciate this, which allows her treatment to continuously up to date. I learned how to make fresh food for Chello and we have established changes which have only helped. She’s gained 7 months in the last two months and anyone who has a dog with kidney failure knows that this is the best possible outcome.
I definitely recommend this place, and travel the 45 minutes and believe it’s totally worth the treatment.

When I originally called to make my appointment, I was very clear with the receptionist that I was looking for services for my diabetic cat who has developed uncontrolled diabetes and neuropathy, despite the use of insulin and diet, and regular follow up with her vet. «Does Dr Tyneway treat uncontrolled diabetes in cats? Yes, she treats diabetes and we can definitely help with that», was the answer.
I arrived on time with my records. I was not seen by Tyneway until 40 minutes later. I assumed the delay was that she had to review the records and x-​rays I had brought. This was not the case. She was unprepared when she came into the exam room. I was told I would have a full hour of consult, feedback, and examination when I originally made my appointment. Nothing could be further from the truth. I spent most of my time waiting in the exam room. During the examination, I note there was no check of her mouth or ears, except to confirm my concerns that she had diabetic neuropathy in her hind legs, to manipulate her hips to pain, and tell me she had a «bad back». After 10 minutes or so (during which her cell phone kept ringing) Tyneway gets up and leaves the room. Without discussing this with me, she sends in a tech to use a portable, hand held, cold laser therapy for 20 seconds. At check out, I learn this cost $ 55.
I understand that during the time she left the room, she put in a call to another doctor to consult. Fair enough, but my regular vet had already called various specialists, and didn’t charge me office visit fees for the privilege.
In our consultation, she suggested Amino B Plex for my diabetic cat. I informed her that Amino B Plex has fructose in it, so it is contraindicated for a diabetic cats. She didn’t know this. She said she needs B vitamins since she is urinating so much. I reminded her that in the intake report her office had taken, I listed a B vitamin specifically for diabetic cats as one of her daily supplements. She had never heard of it. I had brought all her medications, and handed her the bottle after which she stated that it did not contain enough B12. I pointed out that it is 3 mg of B12, not 3 mcg, another miss. She then commented that she had never heard of it, and was interested in adding it to her armamentarium. Glad to be of service I thought.
She asked me where on her body was I injecting the insulin; I told her on the flanks, hips, and stomach. Then suggested I give her insulin injections into her neck scruff; well, insulin is poorly absorbed when injected into the scruff, so it is not an informed recommendation on her part. The discharge instructions recommended I purchase a supplement which might help. That supplement has not been made for over 8 years. Repeated calls to her office yielded no response – until finally a second recommendation was made. Unfortunately it was not effective.
The specialist I went to after Tyneway did note, however, that Tyneway’s office should not have claimed to be able to treat uncontrolled diabetes and metabolic management issues. Considering an office call with her is $ 90, and an internal medicine specialist with far more training charges $ 110, I am in total agreement.
Years earlier, we had brought our dog to see Tyneway. She received both cold laser therapy and water treadmill therapy, bought in series packages. Our dog had been critically ill and was recovering after spending a week in intensive care, and was quite fragile. During her fourth or fifth water therapy session, she was knuckling on the treadmill, but no one on the staff noticed it, or that she was struggling terribly. They told me this was normal. She came out of the session with bleeding knuckles. To top it all off, Tyneway charged us $ 10 for a tube of cream to dress her wounds! She relapsed shortly after that event, and we lost her after another 8 days in intensive care. Still, it did not shake my faith in Tyneway’s skills as a doctor or my belief in integrative medicine for our pets. I still had enough confidence remaining to return to this practice in hopes of bettering my cat’s condition. This past experience has seriously challenged my beliefs in that.

I’ve taken my dog to the Holistic Vet Center a number of times, each time my expectations have been exceeded. Dr. Tyneway really takes the time to sit down and talk with you. Obviously I’m a huge fan of the holistic approach to medicine and am willing to pay a little extra to know my dog is getting excellent care. They are careful not to over-​vaccinate and took the time to talk with me about the huge risk factors that come as a result of over-​vaccination. They place a large emphasis on diet (and rightfully so) and I even learned from the Dr.‘s exam that my dog has tight hips which could one day lead to major hip problems. She taught me stretches to do with my dog on a daily basis as a preventative measure. This has definitely become my regular vet, I trust them, and think they are great.

I want to commend Dr. Tyneway., Dr. Bailey and Dr. Lane for the amazing work they
have done with my ¹⁷¹⁄₂ year old labmix Bosco in acupuncture, massage, lazer, and water therapy. A few years ago, my dog Bosco may have overdone it with his walks around the block and had pretty well collapsed. At age 16, I was sure he was done in with bad arthritis etc. couldn’t stand up. I made an appt. with the regular vet to have him put to sleep. He had been receiving Dermax and Tramodol for pain and muscle problems from the vet. My dad who was a retired doctor said to give him a day and he probably would recover. THe next day he was right and I still brought him to the vet who asked me if I wanted to put him down. I said“no,” as he was doing better. The next day I went to the airport to pick up a relative and saw a beautiful dog there. After complimenting him the owner said the dog was 14 and getting acupuncture and it had enabled him to walk again. So I went to the vet and the vet tech at my vet recomended Dr. Tyneway out of 6 acupuncture business cards they had. She said a client was super happy with her. So I went there and after a number of treatments Bosco was walking better, was happier etc. Dr. Tyneway’s vet techs are amazing. They are loving and caring and it is clear they don’t work there for just the money.
Dr. Bailey and Dr. Lane are loving too. They don’t rush you. Her k-​9 Clinic in Agoura is also a great place for water therapy, exercise and treatment. A huge place with alot of space. I like the fact that there are Saturdays and 2 later nights during the week for working people to take the dogs. Tuesday night at K-​9 and Wednesday night at Holistic. Not like some clinics who don”t do later hours. I thank Dr. Tyneway, Bailey, and Lane for giving Bosco more years in life than
he would have had, had I put him down. It is like Assisted LIving and Doggie Rehab. It is clear that the other dogs are improving too and they love it there. People that complain about the price should understand that it is worth it to give the dog a better quality of life. You don’t go to Vet School or Acupuncture Training to get paid 10 bucks for a visit. Save your movie money, junk food money, or shopping money and instead of buying some clothes or eating out a few times get acupuncture. You will feel happy that you were not selfish. It also encouraged me to get acupuncture myself from a doctor that really helped me as well. I hope you try it. Bosco loves them. Sue D.

I really can’t say enough good things about Holistic Vet Center. Dr. Tyneway and her entire staff are wonderful. I have been going to them for the last 3 & ½ years with both of my dogs but specifically my dog Kyra who was in Kidney failure and through working with Dr. Tyneway stayed healthy years past what anyone ever thought was possible. Not only did Dr. Tyneway help my dog live a really long good life, but her and her staff were always so kind and helpful.
The office is the only vets office I have ever been to that doesn’t smell like urine and it has such good calm energy, this seems to really help pets feel at ease there. I drive from the west la to calabasas for Dr. Tyneway because in the last 12 years I have never found a vet or staff that has such compassion and care for my dogs as if they were their own. If you are looking for a great vet that is competent, caring, smart, with a helpful supportive staff this is the place for you!

Maggie, our 7 year old German Shepherd recently began exhibiting signs of discomfort from arthritis and hip dysplaysia. She would limp after taking a walk and would often get up stiffly after lying down on a hard surface such as a tile or wood floor. We were referred to Dr Tyneway by a friend, she suggested we look into acupuncture to help Maggie’s condition. We began treatments that included both acupuncture as well as laser treatments and injections of Adequan. The results were almost instantaneous as within days Maggie not only had stopped limping but her entire demeanor changed. She was visibly happier, she was always affectionate, but now she was extremely more so.
We cannot express our happiness enough at these changes in our sweet Maggie. Her well being and quality of life are very important to us and seeing her like this has made our hearts sing. We cannot express our thanks enough to Dr. Tyneway and the staff at Holistic vets as they treated both us and Maggie with care and kindness and best of all they gave Maggie relief from the discomfort and pain that was beginning to take her love of life away. Our dogs are critically vital to our family and the doctor and her staff have helped us give Maggie the best life she can have.

this is my first online review of any service– thats because Dr. Tyneway and her stafff are awesome. my large dog is almost 13 years old, and has been coming for weekly accupuncture/​treadmill. With this care is his health has regenerated, and he acts like a young dog. His life has been changed from a «tired» old dog, to a vibrant pet who enjoys long walks and playtime. She is amazing!

Dr. Tyneway (I hate referring to her as a doctor) is horrible in my experience. My little dog is now blind from cataracts. I didn’t know anything about them or how quickly they can progress. I just found out that she could have prescribed some natural eye drops that would have kept them from getting worse. She commented on the cataracts, but never mentioned drops or that she’ll go blind, or the other problems it causes. Also, I brought her in because she fell off a step. «Dr.» Tyneway «adjusted» her. It was fast and brutal. It did not help at all. If anything, my dog seemed in more pain later. She also did an acupuncture treatment. Mind you, she used about 6 needles on this five pound dog. The charge was a whopping NINETY dollars just for the acupuncture. I went back to AZ where I stay. I went to my doggy chiropractor there. He gave her a proper adjustment and she ran around, obviously relieved, and was like a new doggy. At times when I’ve been in her office waiting I’ve heard other people complain (as they left) that she way overcharges for her services. In short, «Dr.» Tyneway should be called «Moneymakingmachine» Tyneway..

I have found the staff very friendly and helpful and Dr. Tyneway to be warm and caring to both my pets and myself. She is detailed and explanatory in the treatment options and so far the herbs she prescribed are helping the cancer my dog has.

My 12 year old dalmatian had some back problems which kept him from being able to use his back legs. With a recommendation from our regular veterinarian we came to see Dr. Tyneway for physical therapy.
My dog Ventura came and started on the water treadmill once a week with acupuncture. He is now fully functioning and is acting like his crazy old self again. You would hardly believe how old he is.

I just recently brought my two fur babies, Cheeky and Shady (teacup yorkies) with there knee issues. This place was like a doogie spa, just like my spa, calm and relaxing my dogs didnt even shake like normally when I bring them to the vets.
Dr. Tyneway was so pleasent and efficent, she looked over every chart and x-​ray that I brought there. She treated my dogs with love and sat on the ground and made them feel so comfortable. We decided on No surgery and that with proper excercises they will live a happy life even when their little knees pop out of place.
We even talked about their diet which I also needed help with. Feeding my dogs a raw diet has helped with their allergies.
I just received a check up call from them which shows that they care about my dogs and I. I definitely recommend Dr. Tyneway and her sweet staff.

In all fairness, I feel I must update this review. I wrote this soon after my cat had passed away and I was very upset. I subsequently obtained and reviewed all of my records from Holistic. I stand by that Dr. Tyneway is overpriced and a rip off. I stand by that she sells unnecessary things to make money. I stand by her crappy bedside manner.
But truly, I am not sure that she made the wrong medical calls after I have reviewed the records. She prescribed the same medication that the subsequent vet did but the records reflect (and accurately so) that I did not pick it up. I think at that point I just didn’t trust Dr. Tyneway. But still, the fact remains that she did prescribe the correct treatment. I just didn’t follow through.
The bottom line is I still would not go there again. But upon further reflection and investigation I think my first review was unfairly harsh and not totally accurate.

Dr. Tyneway is a GREAT holistic doctor! The office has a wonderful atmosphere and the staff couldn’t be better or more personable. My Grace’s acupuncture visits are a real treat for her and I always learn a lot at every visit! Dr. Tyneway will even come to your home if that would be better for your animal. I highly recommend her!
