Fascinating tour and generous tasting. Vizzini was the first stop on our Shelby County Wine Trail tour. Will definitely return for lunch!

This was such a lovely place to spend a Saturday afternoon. We went in for a wine tasting and Tom was great. He asked or preference and we tasted about 5 different wines. If you’re very picky, just know that is out of the same glass and portions are small so they are not portions to make you drunk. We also had lunch while we were there. We all had salads and they were a good size. Nothing too spectacular but I did enjoy the antipasta plate with a good variety of meat and cheeses. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and we all left with a bottle of wine in hand. The staff was so friendly and great about recommendations.

Fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Cute little place just off of highway 65… The grounds are pretty but of course no actual vineyard to see. Vineyard somewhere else, and the grapes transported to the location. Upon waking in we were warmly greeted and invited up to the tasting bar. We got to sample just about everything on their menu. 10 or so wines maybe. The pours are small so no fear of drinking too much really. I typically have low expectation when it comes to local wines(vs CA) and I was totally surprised with all we tried. I liked most of them! A few more than others, but overall two thumbs up and I would for sure purchase them if I spy them in a store. After sampling we sat down for lunch. Small bistro style menu, but enough choices to please anyone. We started with the antipasti plate, which was fine. Likely store bought stuff but it was fine. We also shared two flatbreads which were definitely more exciting than the meat/cheese plate. Both filling and satisfying. We were there to sample wine so wasn’t expecting much on the food. It was nice to enjoy a glass of the wine we tasted with a meal though. We then moved onto a 10⁄15 min tour — hearing about the history, the family, hearing how the wine is made and getting a view of all their equipment. Interesting and the tour guide(part owner) was fun! Knowledgeable and friendly staff serving up some good local wine — go check it out! Oh and you can almost always find a Livingsocial or Groupon — no brainer.

We attended a family reunion at Vizzini’s. It was live music night and the group that furnished the music played a wide variety, and I thought they were very good. The review is for the food. The menu for the live music event was very limited: burgers, hot dogs and Texas caviar with chips. The food was good, but the menu was definitely not what we expected. Wines were very good.

Having visited Ozan Winery also in Birmingham I guess I expected a much prettier ambiance here. Perhaps some rolling hills of vineyards and grapevines wrapping the exterior of a cute building with ample outdoor seating… but the ambiance was rather lacking and consisted of kitschy christmas tree lights and bamboo window shades that should only be reserved for a tropical themed bar and a gift shop of sorts tucked away in the corner of the patio seating that was quite an eyesore. No rolling hills of grapevines from the window… just… er. A big backyard… and.garden. The music in the background was sporadic and went from bad rock n roll to Frank Sinatra which was pretty distracting. All quirky things aside, I have to say the food and some of the wines were out. Of. This. World. I love Italian fare, and though I’m no conousseor and have really only eaten at Carrabba’s and the Olive Garden I had some of the best Italian food I have had here. It was very fresh and delicious. I had a chicken pesto pizza on a wonderful handmade crust. A little too cheesy for me but I just pulled a lot of the cheese of and then it was perfect. My husband’s dish was even better. He got the chicken tetrazzini which was very different from a traditional tetrazzini– not creamy but made with balsamic vinegarette, pesto and fresh garden vegetables… amazing! I was very jealous of his dish. The owner Teal was kind enough to offer us a sample of a new zucchini noodle dish which was amazing and I hope it will be on the menu because I could eat it all day. The wines were wonderful. and potent. Some were better than others but you can go for a tasting to see what you like. I loved the pinot grigio and their blackberry dessert wine. There are lots of complaints about the service and I believe people may have just not had William as their server. William was very friendly, thorough, and never forgot a thing. The wait for food is long but maybe they are harvesting ingredients from the garden? No idea. Regardless of some of the quirkiness here we will definitely be back!

This was a nice little place to stop In and have lunch. The antipasto plate appetizer was a delicious spread of meats and cheeses. We ordered a Greek salad and the pesto chicken pizza, both were great choices. The bread pudding and the coconut cake at the end were great, especially the bread pudding! The grounds were very pretty, lush and green. Patio seating would be a great addition here.

We waited at the bistro for 20 minutes and never saw a waiter or even got any water, so we left. It was a very scenic place, but service was terrible. Would have been inexpensive, the meals were all under $ 10.

I had a great birthday weekend brunch and tour with a group of girlfriends from college at Vizzini Farms Winery at the end of June 2013. The staff was very attentive despite the large size of our group(8 ladies in all). First, we decided to eat brunch. The menu was not very large but everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Personally, I had a great bowl of freshly cooked tomato soup and a delicious vegetable frittata. Next, we made our way to the back of the modest but interesting facility where we received an overview of the Vizzini family history, a lesson about wine-making 101, and the production process. The tour guide was very engaging, funny, and personable over the course of the tour. Finally, we made our way back to the wine bar where we sampled the lovely wines of the Vizzini Farm Winery. I fell in love with a few of the vineyards wines — Tuxedo Junction, Cabernet, and the Peach Chardonnay were my favorites! I must admit that I purchased a few bottles at the end of the tasting :) Overall, I had a great time with my friends and would love to come back again for a small gathering!

Great food! Love the salad trio. And the wine is very good. We had the Cab and the Paulina — both very good. Italian food and bistro is the perfect addition to a winery! Great place, nice people.

Vizzini Farms was a pleasant surprise. As part of a fabulous girl’s weekend in Birmingham we trekked out to the Winery and it was fun from the very beginning. We had the pleasure of meeting Teal who was a pure Louisiana boy with the drawl and the stories about Louisiana to prove it. The wine was great, the tour was entertaining and the lunch was delicious. We were a large group and the staff did a great job of accommodating us. I will definitely add Vizzini Farms to my list of things to do in Birmingham!

The service was really good and friendly. They even brought out warmed chocolate chip cookies. There were a couple of styles of salads that were good but I’m pretty sure they were store bought. Even so, it was all under $ 10. The wine tasting was good especially the Apple Riesling even though they didn’t have it to buy.
