Napa County Fairgrounds RV Park

WE have stayed here in the past, and have been happy. This time, the place is just run down, management is horrible, very noisy. I asked the gray-​headed man inside the little office they have, politely, if he could please reboot his wifi since it wasn’t working. He must have been a morning person & was very rude. He reminded me repeatedly that it is a free wifi, (which by the way, I would have not stayed here if they didn’t advertise in their website). Not staying here again.

i did not stay here but did a ‘drive-​by’. good rule of thumb for any park you’re not familiar with. .. pay for 1 night only, decide to extend only once you arrive.
IMHO prices are slightly high. .. even for calistoga. dogs & picnic tables (yes i said picnic tables) are a la carte??? are you serious??? and for $ 2 per dog PER NIGHT, be sure to tell them THEY can kindly pick it up!

Showers are massive and very clean! Dump station easy to access. Premium Space would be well worth the upgrade cost. Due to drought, all spaces are just dirt. Budget spaces are shoehorn tight, but the Valley beckons you to get out of the campground anyway.
We were lucky to book the last available space within 50 miles of Napa, due to an event at Napa Fairgrounds. Our Campground Host was extremely nice. We left a voice mail to advise we were behind schedule and he called back to advise our spot was confirmed. We arrived 4 hours after the office had closed. The host came out and drove me to our site in his golf cart, to make sure I knew where it was and also secured a safe parking spot for our big work vehicle.
EZ Walk to cute little downtown Calistoga. Bike ride to many wineries. Spas and mud baths within walking distance.

Nothing fancy here. Just asphalt and power poles and street lamps. Very basic RV park. Only a few spots have sewer hookups, but they have a dump station for use. some spots have shade trees, all the spots have a power poll with running water. Restrooms were basic too with warm water showers available. Wifi available with password protection. You must go to the host cottage to get that password. The campground is within walking distance to downtown Calistoga. Made reservations online which was very easy to do and check out was very easy… you just leave

Love the park, it is the best location to bike to all the wineries and downtown Calistoga. The camp host Brian was a d&@k! And his inhospitable attitude was sure to but a damper on anyone’s vacation.

Of all things considered to making a good experience at an RV park, this one had a few. I can see how personal preference will cause reviews to vary widely as I have mixed feelings about the experience. The positive aspects were proximity to town and the golf course, price, hook-​ups, level ground, clean bathrooms, and hot water in the showers. We also were afforded some flexibility with a late check in and late check out to accomodate our schedule.
However, there were some negatives. The establishment closely resembles a simple parking lot having little to no grass or trees, with the exception of the perimeter. The spaces were uncomfortably close to one another on the entrance side, unless you never intend to sit outside your vehicle. They advertise Wi-​Fi, and yes they have it but good luck with trying to gain access or maintain it if you do. In addition I presume the bandwith is very small since even text messages were buffering, and that was while standing right ouside the structure that housed the device.
All that being said if they simply improved the performance of the Wi-​Fi it would have greatly improved my stay.

I give it a 4 because its cheap, close to downtown, all the wineries and spas. My rv has a clean bathroom, hot water and a big shower so I don’t care about there’s. I came to go hiking, swimming, sight seeing, dine out, enjoy the spas and sip wine with friends. If I wanted to go to a fancy rv resort I will.
For $ 37. And full hook ups it’s a super deal! We make it what we want it to be!
We are with 15 rigs and we are having a blast! Roomy spots and we can walk every where! Even to golf!
Lay some grass down and lite the gas fire pit!

So some of what the other reviews say is true… it’s not beautiful… But it’s level, full hook ups, it’s easy access and there are a line of trees that offer shade. It is a bit «serve yourself» but I’m ok with that. To be honest, there’s nothing else in the area to choose from. So I take it for what it is… An amazing location among Calistoga and the wine and restaurants and the spas. There’s a city pool down the street for a couple of $$ and most everything is an easy walk. I’ve stayed here a dozen times at least, and I rarely hang out at the MH… It is located next to a small fun golf course, so if you like to play, that’s a bonus! It always attracts a friendly eclectic group of travelers, and the price seems reasonable to me.

When you see «RV Park» located at a fairgrounds, you should know going in: what it is, is what it is! Were you expecting a tree lined grassy private area? No grass or trees to be found but it is a great spot with full hookups to stay while touring the spas and wineries. This is not my ideal of RV camping (I’m more of a «logging road — back roads gal») but it fills the bill in this area.
I can’t rate the restrooms or showers because it was too cold to venture out of the RV. My biggest complaint was the advertised wi-​fi was sketchy at best. I was on holiday but still trying to conduct business with potential adopters (check out Cavalier Rescue USA) and found it difficult with this wi-​fi system. Took the dogs out for a walk but had to avoid the muddy pools of standing water from recent rains. Some sites were dry but ours was not.
Customer service was good. We decided to leave a day early and told the attendant that we were leaving so she could rent our site out. We discovered a full refund had been issued by the time we arrived home.
Would we return? Yes, probably so if the timing was right.

Everyone’s review on here was right, dusty gravel parking lot and the water and electrical hookups barely worked. We were assigned a 30A that barely produced 20A. If you go here, you know what you’re getting into.
However, it’s a great place to hole up if your interest is in using this place as a base camp and parking lot. Bring a toad and get out of the campground/​parking lot and just on the basis of proximity to all what Napa Valley, Sonoma and to every other cool destinations within two hours, the location is worth it. Thus, I gave it a 4-​star.
Don’t come here for the site, stay for what you can visit from this place. And the restaurants in town are outstanding.
Enjoy. Just don’t expect a nice campground and if you have a MoHo or a larger trailer, it’s worth staying in to watch some of the movies you’ve been wanting to catch up on.

Do not believe the website that shows an RV and tent surrounded by vineyards. That is a fable. The ONLY thing good about this park is that it is in Calistoga. I could not find another RV park in the valley with hookups, there is only dry camping at Sugarloaf Park. So, I ended up at the Fairgrounds.
In spite of it being a peak time of year, the park was not even 25% full. The RV Park is just a giant parking lot. There was no grass. Only one row even had trees. I booked online and told them I had slideouts so I would get one of the larger spaces under the trees.
Wi-​fi never worked. The staff is not always there, there is a small office on site. If you call, do not expect a call back if you leave a message. There was NOTHING in the RV site, no fire ring, no picnic tables, nothing.
It was tolerable just for one night, which was all we needed it for. Really, a 2 star RV park, but at $ 37 a night, it becomes a one star. If you cancel within 30 days, you owe them for one full night. Is it any wonder?

I don’t know what to compare this to because it was my first time camping… I am a city girl who just never experienced the «camping» vacations. This place was fine for what it was. I wouldn’t have a problem going back.

Small, unorganized, and it all just seemed over-​priced. Not for me. I was only here about 30 minutes before deciding to leave. Sorry Calistoga, you missed here.

The place is a few blocks from a trailer park, which was slightly sketchy. Tent camping sites are on a small patch of grass, where cars can also park. Bathrooms are NOT clean… men’s showers are open and not private. Wouldn’t camp here again, better off booking one of the cheaper spa/​motels like EuroSpa or Golden Haven, just call a month in advance the places booked up.
