Bandits Grill & Bar

My parents used to go constantly and took me as a child, I love eating here. I always get the prime rib medium well and it’s cooked to absolute perfection. Last time I was there recently our waiters name was Pat. He took excellent care of us. Our food was delivered with all the correct side dishes, although the mashed potatoes were cold. I brought that to Pats attention and he made sure I had a brand new mashed potatoes dish pronto. Excellent greetings from the hosts and ¹⁰⁄₁₀ service, would recommend to everyone.

Great food, great service! My go to for good bbq! And I LOVE the Mac and cheese! Makenna is a great knowledgeable nice server! I’ve had her a couple times and she was great! Defiantly recommend trying this place out!

I really like this place’s happy hour, it’s quite fantastic. They have an excellent selection of their appetizers and drinks. I got the rib tips which were great, and a jay walker (Irish mule). We also got an order of the cheese burger sliders (pretty good), and an order of the potato skins, which were very plentiful and pretty good as well. I wouldn’t say they were amazing, but pretty good. I really want to come back here for some ribs and get down on some hog. The rib tips left me wanting more haha. They have two separate areas, a dining area and a saloon. The saloon you need to be 21+ and they have a barrel of peanut shells you can just grab and there’s peanut shells on the floor. So if you’re into that kind of thing, there ya go. There’s quite a few TVs in the bar area as well so it’d make for a nice place to go to watch the game. Nice bbq restaurant and about average prices.

Friendly service. Delicious food. Good drinks. Adult sweat tea is a must try. Only down side was we were awkwardly seated by the narrow service station.

Decided to order Lunch from Bandits today for an office Luncheon of about 25 people. Have to give credit where credit is due. EVERYONE LOVED IT. Ribs were moist, hot and delicious. Tri-​Tip the same with 2 options to choose from. (Regular or BBQ’d)
Bread, Beans & Coleslaw were beyond plenty and tasted great. Thank you guys for the great food as we will be placing this order during our next luncheon. Thanks for having the food ready, boxed up and hot when we arrived for pick up… Great Experience…

I love bandits. Really yummy food, fun atmosphere (especially if you sit in the saloon) and attentive staff. I have had a variety of their food, but my favorites are the tri tip, jerk chicken (close to classic southern jerk sauce, though something is a little different) and their burgers. The Cabernet burger is delicious if you like bleu cheese. Their drinks are fabulous also. Friends and I often come for their happy hour.
Anyways I can’t praise this place enough. I work nearby and am constantly sending people over to try bandits and they never return disappointed. Cool place.

I can not come to Ventura county without stoping by here. This place has the best food, service, and prices. I can never order the same dish. Everything is good here.

Awesome place. First time here had the chili and BBQ burger. The service was amazing and the burger was also very well made.
But this review is mostly on their chili. It was so good and the manager opted to not charge it. It was honestly the nicest thing ever. We appreciate the hospitality. If you’re in town check it out! Highly recommend!

i’ve eaten here a few times and it is pretty good.
the bread is great. ive had a burger and baby back ribs and beef ribs and all of it has been pretty good. no complaints. nothing fancy, will definitely go back again.

Great food, great service!
The food is some of the best we’ve had. The Yams (sweet potatoes) were awesome. The tri tip chili is also a must. Patrick was great! We didn’t know the ribs had a little kick, and it was a bit much for my daughter. We asked to order a half rack with no sauce for her, and they comped it. We are coming back here in the near future.

I’ve been here a handful of times now and I like it enough to keep coming back generally, but I’m annoyed that the whole place is full of people wanting to watch a football game right now, and they won’t play the audio for it (because it’s a Saturday — whatever!). They’re playing dumb pop music and it’s very distracting, actually game inappropriate. They should really work on pleasing the customers and what they’re here for. They weren’t even able to add closed captioning so we could at least read what the commentators were saying.
The food is good, the 805 on draft is very fresh, but we are looking for a different sports bar to go to now just to accommodate our game experience. Too bad.

My family and I have enjoyed Bandits dining in on numerous occasions. This evening we decided to order takeout because we didn’t want to deal with the chaos of eating in a restaurant with a toddler and an 8 month old. I ordered my 3 year old the kids cheeseburger, medium-​well.
I started taking all the food out, all the meanwhile huffing the delicious aroma of bandits. I took out my sons cheese burger and cut it in half for the lad, as we tend to do, and the meat was still fresh… Like it was practically mooing at me. I tend to like my meat more on the rare side but we make sure it’s thoroughly cooked for the wee ones.
Unacceptable, Bandits. You know you’re making a kids burger, so why not be sure you make it right? Here’s a tip for the future: parents are less forgiving when it comes to their children’s food.

Have had three meals here and it never got better. I don’t understand the appeal. It’s not cheap. It can’t hold a candle to Wood Ranch which isn’t great but the best in the area.
Just really really below average bar food

We were driving around Camarillo looking for sushi, too bad we’re too stupid to know you can’t eat sushi after 2pm in Camarillo! Btw, that’s sarcarsm, it’s a stupid rule, but trust me, they follow it.
So we were sitting in front of yet another closed sushi place trying to figure out where to go when I SMELLED this place from two blocks away and decided to follow my nose like a floating cartoon character.
We came up and saw that on the front of the building it said they were closed (!!!) because of the 2pm naptime rule in Camarillo BUT they were serving lunch to lucky bastards like us over at the saloon!!! Salvation!
Inside, it’s dark but clean, AWESOME tunes on the speakers, super friendly waitress greeted us. I got my strawberry lemonade in a flash, and enjoyed it’s obviously fresh-​made super strong taste as I eavesdropped on all the locals that were sitting nearby. Fyi, we were the ONLY non locals, as it appeared that the waitress knew everyone by name.
FOOD:
We ordered the «unbeatable sandwich» and the tri-​tip chili. My husband had his half of the sandwich with the jerk sauce, I did the Bandit BBQ. Everything was excellent. The meat was tender and perfectly seasoned, the garlic bread was NOT greasy or overly toasted, the chili was obviously from scratch with bits of bay leaves. Garlic fries were also not greasy or too garlicky.
As we gorged, more and more people kept showing up, and not only did the waitress know them all, the other guests knew them too. So we ordered the mud pie, just because the environment was pleasant.

While the Eagles song Desperado came to mind when I ordered my Margarita, there is nothing melancholy about the kick in the pants this drink gives you. I was impressed with how much drink you get for $ 10, I would not hesitate to get it again. It’s exactly how I like my margaritas, bursting with citrus and mixed with my favorites Patrón„ Citrónage & topped off with a splash of Grand Marnier, luckily I had a DD, because who ended up sitting across from us? Two police officers.
Our waitress was prompt and friendly, she took our drink order right off the bat and had it to us within minutes, we both opted to get the BBQ combo plate which is $ 16.99, this includes two types of meat such as: Boneless Chicken Breast; Roasted Half Chicken; Baby Back Ribs;Pulled Pork ;Tri-Tip;Beef Ribs;or Spicy Beef Links.
You also get a choice of one side, which is anywhere from a baked potato, vegetables, mac& cheese, corn, garlic fries, or beans.
One of the difference between Bandits and their competitors is the cost and portion size of the meals. While you would more than likely received larger portions at one of the competitors, you’d also end up spending more as I figured yesterday there is about a $ 5 difference between the other barbeque restaurants I normally go to.
If I would suggest two things to Bandits owners, it would be to change from the pats of cold butter they give with the baked potatoes, and opt for the butter you put in the cups it’s much easier for the butter to melt into your potato and the second would be to turn on the A/​C, we had opted to eat inside because we were trying to get away from the heat outdoors, and realized it was very stuffy inside too, a small bit of ventilation goes along way.
All in all a wonderful meal, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Bandits. Now it’s time for you to try it out for yourself.

Good people great BBQ here. Have the salmon salad and barbecue baby back pork ribs and the hickory burger so good. Nice selection of beers and specialty cocktails. Make sure you save room for the mudpie with macadamia nuts it’s a great dessert.
Happy hour from 3 till 7.

Good BBQ and good for groups. Main restaurant has both booths and tables. TVs are located around the restaurant for sports fans. A saloon bar is located on the right side of the restaurant. Super casual vibe in there — peanut shells thrown on the ground etc.
Prime rib is available all the time. Large 16 oz portion available! Creamy horseradish and flavorful au jus sauce.
Steak salad: mm delicious! Comes w their house Tri tip, blue cheese, pickled onions, avocado… this salad has it all. If you come during lunchtime, they have a half portion which is still pretty large.
Mac n cheese — good for kids and adults! Creamy but not overly cheesy or mushy. Good portion size and consistency.
Outdoor seating. Busy for dinner all the time. Casual but fun atmosphere. Beers on draft.

Went here after a local soccer match. Picked this place above all others because I knew it would have good food. We were entertaining guests from out of town and it did not disappoint. My husband and I come here all the time. Sometimes eat in the saloon, which is crazy fun.
Well, today was incredible! We were seated in and served immediately. Pulled pork sandwich and side of ribs was delicious.

A good friend recommended this BBQ place after hearing that we were a fan of Woodranch. The food was better than Woodranch and the prices were way more friendly on the wallet.
So lets see… 6 well poured whisky and diets, an order of buffalo wings for an appetizer, one dinner sized Cesar Salad with a pound of Blackened Chicken and one (gigantic!!) Wedge Salad with a pound of Tri Tip…$ 60. Zero complaints here. All of the food was on point. I loved the buffalo wings, I kind of wish we would have ordered a few more. The tri tip on my wedge salad was amazing. Super smoked and tender. They also included a ton of bacon and crumbled blue cheese. I think the grilled red onions sealed the deal here and perfected this salad. I tried a bite of the blackened chicken Cesar and thought that was very flavorful as well.
Great service, we sat in the bar area to avoid the long wait time at the restaurant. Our server was on it! She took our drink orders quickly, and our food arrived shortly after. She checked on us often to make sure we had enough to drink. This place was busy and I thought she handled the rush very well.
I can’t wait to go back!

3 months ago our last time here was not the best.
Shawn the manager reached out to me here on Unilocal and offered me a coupon to return and give them another try. he mentioned he doesn’t run the place like that. and in all fairness we have returned.
We went in on this Sunday and decided that in the past we have had the best luck in the bar. so we defaulted to that.
I brought my wife and daughter with me, the bar was packed however we found a good table and we got fairly quick service from the bartender who in the past has given us great service. Don’t get me wrong she still rocked it and it and she has a baby bump to boot! it might have been better if there was a waitress in the bar as well, I did notice several other wait staff pitching in to help as well, no stars lost here.

We got a couple of 805’s and a strawberry lemonade. then we ordered lunch which was a couple of the burgers and a prime rib sandwich.
The burgers were cooked correctly and the fries were straight out of the fryer.
My daughter who got the prime rib sandwich, she stated that she loves it when you have a tri tip or prime rib sandwich and you take a bite and all the meat doesn’t come out in the first bite. The meat was juicy enough that she didn’t even us the Au jus.
Both of our burgers were great and we have a re instilled favor towards bandits. well at least the bar and its staff. W e will have to try the Rib eyes again sometime soon.
All in all the experience was very good.
We actually ended up not using the gift cert as the service and food was great and deserved to be paid for.
