On the Boulevard Salon & Spa

I received the worst service possible without even entering the salon.
I called to make an appointment at about 6 for my sister and the woman that answered was so completely rude and obnoxious. She thought I had already called earlier and I said no, and she said «YES you did, you said your sister starts school tomorrow!» and then she said «I’m leaving! So no!» I reminded her that her website said the salon didn’t close for another 45 minutes, and she started screaming at me! She yelled very abruptly «I AM LEAVING! I gotta go pick up my SON I don’t CARE WHAT THE WEBSITE SAYS.» I said «Okay then you should update your website to let people know it’s subject to change» and she started screaming over me and wouldn’t let me finish, and she screamed (I mean SCREAMED) that she was leaving and refused to take me. I can only imagine if someone yells and screams at clients and potential clients like that how horrible they will treat someone’s hair. Not even worth a shot. This tells me On the Boulevard doesn’t care whatsoever about customer service, nor professionalism, which is extremely important and should be for anyone.

On the Boulevarde Salon is a great choice to go to get a hair cut. I see Desiree there as my hair stylist. She does an awesome job. For one she did my up do for my wedding which turned out amazing and I felt so beautiful on my wedding day. Also she styles and cuts my hair in to something no other than fantastic. I always get compliments on my hair after she cuts it. She listens closely to you prior to taking scissors to the Mane And clarifies your personal requests so that your hair turns out the way you want it. All in all I think you should go here to get your hair cut! I will keep goin!

I had an awesome experience at this salon and couldn’t be happier with my hair. Deserie was very attentive and asked me several questions to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. From the color to the final styling, I was very happy with the results! She also gave me plenty of great tips to help me manage my hair and was a joy to be around. No complaints!

Me and my friend were looking for a good place (that was affordable) to get a haircut and stumbled upon this cute place. Desiree did a wonderful job on both of our hairs (and I’m one of those picky people when it comes to people touching my hair) and she knew exactly what we wanted.
She has been doing this for a while so I trusted her and she did not disappoint! In addition, she is incredibly sweet and lovely & I can not speak higher of her and her work!
I’m planning on going back for a balyage treatment :)

This review is for stylist Rita. She has been cutting and coloring /​highlighting my hair for many many years and she is absolute amazing! I am very picky and I always leave the salon looking like a million bucks! I highly recommend going to her for your color and cuts. She really cares about her clients and wants them to look their absolute best. She is super talented! I really like the salon also. I feel really comfortable there. Everyone is great!

Janine has cut my hair several times and I am a big fan of hers! I always come out with exactly what I wanted. She’s great!

Upon a recommendation of my friend I went to a new salon for color and treatment since my long trademark «natural looking» hair needed a freshen up and it felt like straw instead of hair. But now, I’m over the moon about my hair. Deserie gave me highlights last week and a condition treatment, my hair looks soft and healthy, the highlights are so natural looking that I am beyond happy because that is all I really care about for it to look pretty but natural –I can confidently recommend her and I see why my friend sent me to her — I’m very picky about my hair color– and it looks like a luxurious mane. Huge thanks, I will be back in six weeks!

Disappointing! My son and I stopped in to have his hair trimmed and we sat in the lobby for over 30 minutes without acknowledgement. Downright rude and unacceptable.

Very happy with my new found salon and stylist, Janine! I’ve been looking for someone to work with me on finding a new look. After a weird over priced consultation At salon glow. I called On the Boulevard Salon and spoke with Janine. She worked with the price and had a numerous amount of patients with my indecisive choice on color. :) I am so happy with the outcome! Just straight perfection! I Definitely recommend her

Hated this place. They pull your hair and break it when they’re straightening it. The lady would walk away to gossip with her friend in the middle of styling my hair.
My hair is curly but pretty docile. This lady did a horrible job at it. It looked frizzy and unprofessional.
Will not be coming back here.

This review is for Janine, a stylist at this salon. I came to Janine to have my hair bleached blonde from a dark natural brown color. To say she did an amazing job is an understatement. Most people ask me if it’s natural — No joke!
After 3 years of her bleaching my hair, with her product advice and professional guidance, I still have very long, healthy, soft hair. Anyone who bleaches knows how damaging it can be and what you can look like if it’s not done correctly… Janine is extremely knowledgable about hair care & products, and knew exactly how to take care of me to give me exactly what I wanted. She takes her time to make sure it’s perfect.
Janine’s also got a great personality. When you spend that much time in a chair, you have to enjoy the person as well. I drive 20 miles to see her every month and I look forward to every visit. In fact, I’d drive even further for her!
I was so pleased with the work she has done for me over the years, that I knew she had to be my stylist for my wedding last August. I looked like a queen. It was exactly what I wanted. Perfection. My words can only say so much, please look at my photos to see exactly what I’m talking about!

Stood there for 20 mins and no one even said hi. Nothing. They definitely saw me standing there but no one came up to ask what service I needed. Poor customer service.

I have been in Camarillo for a couple of years and took a chance coming to this salon based off of Unilocal.
Deserie has done my hair all three times. She is a genius and a magician. Not only is she wondrous with hair, but she is kind, friendly and compassionate.
She has always managed to make my ideas come true, and is honest with the ones that just aren’t a good idea at all.
The staff are all very friendly as well and make the entire experience that much better.
I can honestly say that I wouldn’t go anywhere else. So if you’re looking for a fabulous hair salon, on the boulevard is the best!

I first came to On the Boulevard before Christmas to have a trim and my highlights redone. My hair was done by Deserie (the owner) and I had an absolutely wonderful experience. She and everyone in the salon makes you feel so welcome and at home. It’s a combination of a getaway to treat yourself mixed with a relaxed vibe where people are hanging out and having a good time.
I came back after New Year’s to have Deserie style my hair for a wedding. I wanted old Hollywood waves and she did such a lovely job with the style and the texture. I felt glamorous and my hair stayed perfect throughout a whole night of dancing. Shortly after I came back to get bangs cut. It had been a few years since I had them so I was nervous about the commitment and wasn’t sure if I wanted blunt bangs. She knew exactly what I wanted and cut them in a way where I could choose to wear them or blend them with the rest of my hair. I later returned for an ombré. My hair has been a darker blonde and I wanted the bottom lighter like I’ve seen Lauren Conrad do to her hair. Once again I was completely satisfied with the results and was exactly what I had in mind.
Deserie immediately gained my confidence when it comes to leaving my hair in her hands. She specializes in extensions, color, color corrections and making sure the hair doesn’t get damaged during the process. She will go above and beyond for you to make sure your hair is healthy and looks great. I always leave her salon relaxed with a smile. =)
I went back again Tuesday to get a trim and more blonde put in. Now I’m ready for summer!

Just had my hair done by Deserie and holy cow! My hair is absolutely stunning! I had called rather late, around 4pm and asked if anyone could do a touch up on my roots and Deserie said she could do that. She even stayed late after they were closed too. Not only did she do my roots, she fixed the color and made it stunning~ I love this place.
If you need an amazing colorist, Deserie is the woman to go to!

I believe I came here for Deserie. I have long very thick hair and I like to keep it that way. But after several stylists who thinned it out on purpose, it was a long journey to get my hair to its «natural» state. Deserie was fantastic, loved how she listened to my story of my hair and really followed through. She has great chairside manner and I was satisfied both times I came for my hair cut. She cut my bangs to fit my face and her layers always grew out perfectly so it never looked like I needed another cut… it just looked like I was born fabulous! After every appointment she would go over my routine and how to manage my hair, all her tips are things that I still use to this day.
I have also come before to see another stylist who isn’t there anymore, but she was awesome too. Over all the customer service is great, and you’re treated like a good friend who is a regular (even if you aren’t)
They also do student discounts and occasionally post deals on their website so I would check those out too! This salon is so convenient and even though the prices are a little up there, I never trusted another salon to touch my hair!

This review is for Dona. She’s awesome. I had gone to a few other stylist is Ventura and wasn’t particularly happy. I randomly came upon Dona and then it was over. I loved loved my first cut with her. She is super friendly and out going and really accommodating to whatever you ask her for. She has quit a bit of experience under her belt and it totally shows.
I recently went to visit her at Off the Boulevard and I got a cut and color. I left super happy. I left my hair in her hands and loved what she did! If your looking for a new stylist she is your girl.
A note on the salon– the owner was super nice and gave me a whole tour of the place. She even took me outside and showed me the best places to park. There are a few parking spots in the front but Ventura blvd can busy so parking in the back is best.

REVIEW FOR JING, THE NEW MANICURIST.
I LOVE getting Gel Manicures. One, I hate acrylics. I don’t like how they feel on my fingers. Two, I can’t maintain them because of where I work. (Okay, I dont HATE them, I’m jealous that I can’t have them without them looking scruffly). Jealousy, Hate. same difference. So I opt for the less abrasive, just as long lasting little sister of acrylic manicures. Gel.
Jing came into my workplace (I work for a large printing company. Any Guesses?) to make a poster advertising a «New Manicurist» at On The Boulevard which just so happened to be herself. She caught a glimpse of my chipping manicure (after 14 days) & told me a little about herself and where she is now located.
As soon as I was off at 5pm, I headed over to her.
Jing is AMAZING. She isn’t like any other manicurist in the area. She talked to me the entire time while doing meticulous work on my nails. I felt like I’ve known her forever. I asked how long she had been a nail tech. OVER 15 YEARS.
She does EVERYTHING under the nail art sun & charges just as much as anywhere else you can go, if not cheaper.
She also offers 3D NAIL ART which is basically sculpting little designs on the nail using Acrylic powder and a small brush. She did a little bow on my nails. An ARTIST.
Specs:
–She is the only manicurist at this salon. I’d suggest making an appointment.
–She will accept walk-​ins, but I’m sure you will have to be willing to wait.

This review is for Veronica M, a stylist at this salon. I have been going to Veronica for the last three years. After Joe (a filtered reviewer, yes… she’s great with men’s cuts too!) introduced me to her at the last salon she worked at, I immediately stopped struggling with other stylists.
My biggest problem with getting my hair done is that I can never describe exactly what I want and if I try I always feel like I’m too picky. For me it’s either I let the stylist do their thing or I tell them EXACTLY what to do (and thats no fun). With Veronica I just tell her «I need more volume» or «a little darker/​lighter» and she works her magic. She knows exactly what to do with MY hair and MY shape, and that’s been the case from the very start. She hasn’t had to «learn» my likes or dislikes, she’s just nailed it from the start. I’ve gone from light to dark and dark to light, cuts to trims, partials, full colors, crowns, and it always looks better than I imagined going in. I feel like a million freaking dollars walking out of there.
She’s even there when I want to experiment! I wont go edgy without her doing it! She took me to light light blonde when I felt ultra experimental. It looked amazing but my boyfriend couldn’t take the barbie look so guess what… she even adjusted it the next day to get it the perfect shade for him! I know I know, it’s MY hair, BUT he looks at me every day so I want to make sure I look sexy, even when I’m edgy! Veronica did that for me.
A note about being in a salon for an extended amount of time… getting your hair done is like getting your nails done. You often feel like you have to hold a conversation or you’re put on the spot with people. 1 – 3 hour hair appointments can be painful if you’re not comfortable! That is not the case with Veronica. Sometimes we chat it up, sometimes I get lost in a book, or sometimes both. Either way I’m super comfortable and she makes me feel very very relaxed.
Hands down, she’s the best. I moved to San Jose and now I wait until I visit friends back in Ventura to get my hair done by Veronica. She’s amazing and she puts up with my relentless photo taking! I added a collage of my hair cuts from her in the business photos. Seriously, how can you go wrong with a stylist that so good make’s the hair on a zombie look sexy!?! **see photo** Veronica can do it!
