History

Established in 2007.

I learned immigration law by solving real problems for real clients. First, I apprenticed as a paralegal: I worked at a small law firm, then a medium-​size firm, then a big firm. As I gained knowledge and experience in the field I realized that these linear employment options failed to sustain my growing ambitions. So I enrolled in law school and started a business providing paralegal support services to immigration lawyers and law firms. These lawyers and law firms hired me to work on challenging assignments involving all types of immigration applications, petitions, motions, appeals and legal research. Succeeding in that work required no less than becoming better as a paralegal than many lawyers were as lawyers. This experience served as a foundation for my own law practice.

I emigrated from Russia and immigrated to the US at the age of 18, barely speaking English. After graduating from college, I apprenticed in several progressively responsible immigration paralegal positions and then started a paralegal support services business, working freelance for immigration lawyers and law firms nationwide while also attending Suffolk Law School. I have been working as an immigration attorney in private practice since 2006, since 2007 as the owner of Albrecht Immigration Strategies, PC.

I contacted Jan for an important question about my father’s green card process based on all the Unilocal reviews. I was overseas at the time and he got back to me within 24 hours and gave me several options of when we could talk within the next day. He gave us good advice that solved the dilemma we were struggling with. He was knowledgable about the subtleties of the process and just as importantly admitted when he was not sure about a particular question as it was a very unique case but gave us his best opinion based on his experience. The cost of the consultation was definitely worth it.

I wish there was a six star option for Mr.Albrecht. Simply put he is extremely honest and trustworthy. Unlike many other attorneys who just tell you what you want to hear or ramble on to run up a bill Jan Albrecht is to-​the-​point and direct, courteous, extremely honest, and all while being courteous and humane in the way he approaches communication. The biggest emphasis should be honesty and transparency. Pure class and pure professionalism.

So here is my experience with Jan, even though I could not use his service completely I will not hesitate to reach out to him in the future.
I reached out to Jan about my wife GC. Even though I reached out to him on the weekend I got prompt and knowledgable responses. The initial consultation is not free but it is risk free and I can say that since we had a family friend who decided to help us instead so we never got to our detailed consultation call. When I informed Jan about this he refunded my 250 $ in minutes.
Such honesty today is very rare. I greatly appreciate the detailed initial responses he sent me over the weekend which gave me a piece of mind and for such prompt service. This was my first time reaching out to an attorney and I will not hesitate to reach out to Jan in the future.

Just by looking and reading Jan’s website you can clearly see that he knows the ins and outs of the immigration processes and that’s what you want in an Immigration lawyer especially when everyone knows that time is of the essence in this cases. In the span of a year Jan work on both my H1B and Green Card cases. He successfully handled both cases with a deep knowledge and professionalism. Nothing was left to chance and all my questions were always answered promptly. I will definitely contact Jan in the future to handle my Citizenship application when the time will come.

Jan is great.
When I emailed him, he responded within an hour, and set up an appointment after hours in a Café, on the same day.
He’s a major innovation on the lawyer stereotype. You get no bullshit, honest, to the point opinions. He’s not a clock-​watcher. He appears to know the ins and outs of his area of practice and knows all the unwritten nuances which I assume must have come from previous experience.

If you happen to be an entrepreneur, I doubly recommend him, since he deals with them often, from what I gather.
He does not do free consultations, but it’s worth every penny. I’m glad to see that at least *someone* is passionate about the obscure and tedious subject of immigration. And you can hire him, so just go for it.
