I got a cheese pizza for dinner. The guy behind the counter was on the phone for most of the time I was in the restaurant, but was friendly. The pizza has a thin crust, which I normally like, but I couldn’t get past the grease. The oil was dripping off of the pizza. It was so greasy that I couldn’t taste anything else. The grease was everywhere! It soaked the crust and instead of being crisp, it felt a bit soggy. The atmosphere wasn’t great — there were kids screaming almost the entire time I was there, but that’s bad luck and I don’t blame the restaurant. So, while the employee was friendly, I don’t think I’ll be back, at least not for pizza. Also, to warn you, this place is cash only.

A+ service but just average food. For a quick Friday lunch, a group of us decided to grab some takeout today. I got a pepperoni calzone and was not impressed but also not unhappy. It was an average calzone, a bit on the greasy side, but the portion was great and I just had the last 1⁄3 of it for dinner. I think the dough was really good but would have liked more cheese. One plus is that they put the marinara on the side and not in the calzone; that’s how it should be but not everyone does that. The people here were fantastic. They knew some of my coworkers and were very, very friendly and easily accommodated a large order on somewhat short notice. The prices weren’t bad and they give you a can of soda with the order, so it really worked out well.

I agree with Shane F’s review — the food is pretty bleh, but the people were really nice to me when I came by. Although they didn’t go so far as to introduce me to salt and pepper, they just seemed very eager to please, asked me how my day was going, talked a bit about sports. Looks like some other people have had bad service experiences, so YMMV. It’s a pretty typical pizza joint, kinda scruffy and dingy, with dudes of random Eurasian descent crafting pizzas and sammiches to the best of their ability. Pricing is fair to good. I also agree with Kris M — the pizza is pretty greasy.

I swore to myself, I was going to come home and cook dinner, but it was nearly 8PM, I’d been at work since 8AM and then running errands afterward, and I was passing Aram’s on the way home from the dollar store(classy, I know). Noticing that their pizzas weren’t significantly more expensive than the frozen pizza I was probably going to buy at Foodmaster anyway, I stopped in. The kind man behind the counter hopped up and took my order for a small pepperoni, stuck it in the oven, and sat back down to do his crossword or whatever, while I took a seat in the otherwise empty restaurant and watched the rerun of ST: tNG that was playing on the tv(added props). Noticing that it was cash only(sadness) I ran to the atm while the proprietor volunteered to hold my shopping behind the counter. The pizza itself was quite good, though drenched in grease. I used up two paper towels getting most of it off the top, and it was still shiny. Good crust and pepperoni, though, and as I mentioned inexpensive(about $ 7 for a small pie). Worth going to again, though probably not before I finish checking out other Inman Square restaurants.

we’ve never actually eaten here, so i can’t review the food. we’ve tried to get pizza/subs here twice and both times walked out without ordering. they are extremely rude. i tried to order a grilled cheese and he said«NOGRILLEDCHEESE.» i then tried to get roast beef and he flat out told me NO. the second time i tried to try it… we walked in, were completely ignored by employees standing right in front of us. we’ll never go back!

I hopped in here the other day CRAVING a Greek salad wrap. Seriously, I was having a crisis. I had stopped at a couple other places that wouldn’t do it because it wasn’t on the menu. WTF? You have wraps and you have Greek salad… what’s the issue? But, I digress… Anyway I walked in and the gentleman at the counter greeted me with a smile and gladly accepted my order. YAY! The wrap was made with shredded lettuce, so it was a little messier then I was expecting, but still fresh and it totally hit the spot! The food gets 3 stars, the forth one is for the fact that they only had Kalamata olives and he pitted all of them by hand to add them to my sandwich. I told him that he didn’t have to and to just put them on the side, no problem. He said it was no problem for him… he won me over.

Aram’s should not be called number one. As you can’t even order ONE slice of pizza. Word to the wise, if you want a slice, you must go elsewhere! Boooo!!! HisSSssss!

This place doesn’t exactly scream out«try me,» but on one hungry afternoon walking by, I decided to give it a go. The pizza is really pretty tasty, and quite affordable. Best of all, the woman behind the counter was as nice as can be and gave the place an honest family-run feeling. A few weeks later I came back in and had another couple slices of cheese pizza. Fairly delicious again. Nothing to write home about but certainly a tasty stop. A man this time behind the counter almost matched the exuberance of the woman, and when I finished he asked with pride something along the lines of, «Delicious, wasn’t it?» … and suddenly it did become a little more delicious.

Look at the menu. It’s about 80% cheesesteaks and sandwiches. So if you order a pizza fine… I will just weight your review at 20%. The prices are reasonable and non-exploitative with regards to toppings(cough: Chhrrristo’s Seven Star). My cheesesteak may have been smaller than Hi-Fi, but it’s difficult to confirm that because my appetite is so unpredictable. So I got a slice… which was under $ 1.50. Nice. Greasy. Also nice. That kind of crust that is a little crunchy but not a thin crust. Greasy, tasty, friendly, pretty cheap, just like yo momma.

The pizza here is alright, nothing special, but for $ 1.50 a slice it’s pretty hard to beat when money is tight. Subs are decent. **edit 8÷29÷07 — I originally had this under Aram’s #2, when I meant it for this location. OOPS

These people are really nice. The pizza is forgettable with a half hearted crust but the people are really nice. They actually changed the way I get my cheese subs. I had never thought of adding salt and pepper to a sub but, when I ordered the lady was quiet insistent that I add«some flavor» so I tried it. Now I ask for salt and pepper everywhere I go. Wasn’t that an exciting story?

One of the best pizzas in town: Large with greek olives, feta and garlic. I’m sad they don’t have spinach, but it is still delicious Onion rings are a little heavy on the batter, but the fries are good. Make sure you pop the styrofoam container or they’ll get soggy from the heat! Nick is usually behind the counter, and is a very nice guy. I saw him argue with an asshole once, and he gets feisty. But hey, if you ran a pizza joint in Inman Square, you would too! :)

Ditto to the first review here. The food here is nothing spectacular, but I can always count on a quality toasted roast beef sub. The small sub is almost two servings, so you can get your money’s worth. But the best thing about the place is that it quite literally is one of those mom & pop places that you just feel good supporting. A friendly Greek family runs the place, putting in a lot of time and hard work to keep the place running amidst the flashier Inman Square restaurants. Sundays are the only days the immediate family takes the day off. It’s easy to get preferred service if you become a regular here. My brother always orders the chicken cutlet sub, and the owner now starts making the sandwich as soon as my bro walks in the door. Be sure to be courteous, though, because I’ve seen the owner get grumpy with a customer who asked too many questions about the menu, which is plainly posted above the counter. You’re also sure to return time after time to put your quarter in the gumball machine. A black gumball will win you a free slice & soda! :) A friendly neighborhood favorite. Try the fries!

Food wise, there’s nothing particularly outstanding about Arams #1. The subs are good and greasy. The pizza is tasty, though the crust has that kind of stale breadstick texture. In short, if Arams were not in my neighborhood, I would certainly not go out of my way to eat there. BUT, what I do love about the place is it’s neighborhood feel. In the 15 minutes I was last there, at least three different people walked in and were greeted as «My Friend!» or «Hey Amigo». Y’know, the pizza place equivalent of shouting«Norm!» whenever your favorite customer arrives. So if you’re willing to forgo spectacular cuisine for a family eatery with heart, check out Arams. Who knows, if you come here often enough, they may start greeting you as well.
