Food always arrives on time, exactly as ordered. We use Basil Tree for 5 – 6 events every semester and have never had a problem with food delivery, quality or presentation.
Plus, food and materials are eco-​friendly, which is awesome.

Basil Tree is not the cheapest place around, but you often get what you pay for. If you want a company that you can absolutely rely on every time to be on time, taste good and be environmentally responsible, go with Basil Tree. They have menu items to suit every taste and food allergy and they taste good — did I already say that? Seriously — gluten-​free for celiacs that actually has flavor? Nut-​free, dairy-​free, vegetarian, vegan, you name it.

This catering company has so many choices and the food is absolutely delicious. From the food to the delivery and then to the fact that they PICK UP all the reusable/​recyclable platters and service-​ware — you cannot go wrong with Basil Tree. It is such a different experience from all the other lunchtime work caterers out there!

This is such a wonderful company. They are bringing the concept of low to zero-​waste to catering and it works so well! There is no guilt of having a million plastic utensils delivered along with the food and if you do need utensils provided, they are all compostable!

We ordered the catering for a work event. They were quick to get back, food arrived on time and was delicious. All utensils they provide are 100% compostable and they reuse the platters, so it was perfect for a Zero Waste event. I would highly recommend it to environmentally responsible people or just anyone who likes good food.

I’ve used their catering service for multiple events. They are always punctual and the online ordering system is very easy to use. The food is great; the vegan pad thai dish always gets totally eaten and people rave about the food, often shocked to have such good vegan food.

The online ordering was so easy to use. We ordered 4 platters of various sandwiches for a work event. The variety of bread and fillings was great for a crowd. Also, the cookies and brownies were delicious! The treated us like family. Will definitely be using them again

I’ve been using Basil Tree to cater a large (100+ people) monthly event for my office and smaller breakfast/​lunch meetings (5 – 25 people) for over a year. They’ve been wonderful at forming a relationship with us as a lasting customer and routinely accommodate our somewhat quirky needs and requests.
The staff is always extremely pleasant on the phone and in person making deliveries. Our delivery locations change often through the Kendall Square area and their delivery staff never has issues finding us — they’re either very familiar with the area or are great about researching before hitting the road. I’d say we’ve placed about a hundred orders with them, and we’ve only had them arrive late a handful of times.
Mistakes are rare but when they do happen, they are completely rectified (one time we were given two orders of half and half to go with our coffee but no milk, and they offered to send a driver back across town to drop milk off for us, and we received discounts after the aforementioned late orders — much better than the typical verbal apology you get from a lot of other caterers!)
Their presentation is among the best I’ve seen with caterers in the area (in the fall, they put mini crab apples on the dessert platters — adorable!). I love that they’re sustainable and offer «Basil bins» to collect and reuse discarded platters. So much less waste.
The food is always fresh — no soggy sandwiches here — and has a creative twist. I like to use them for breakfasts and order the quiche cups or croissants. They’re also great about adding variety without missing the mark. They change up the assorted desserts seasonally and the new additions are always a hit.
I would certainly recommend them.

Basil Tree has great lunch and breakfast options, the coffee is super yummy! They are always on time or early and will set everything up for you. From the phone calls to the delivery staff the employees of Basil tree are always so pleasant to deal with, thank you Basil Tree we are happy to continue to work with you!

Love these people! I used them for a mid sized meeting yesterday and they were awesome yet again.

This place is excellent. I go here for lunch whenever I can. I’ve tried many of their panini sandwiches as well as some of their entrée plates and have never been disappointed.
The Tuna Melt is my favorite, it tastes very homemade and is grilled to perfection every time.
The staff is great too, always very friendly and learn your ‘usuals’ very quickly!

Basil tree had fantastic customer service, arrived on time to the Seaport District, was very professional, and tasty! We ordered the Asian Delight meal for our grand finale event and everyone loved it. I can’t stress how fantastic the staff were. When ordering catering, the customer service, timeliness, even providing the correct receipt are key, and Basil Tree had it down. Happy to recommend them!

Basil Tree provided a select number of dishes for our Science Club for Girls year end event. They offered delicious, organic and well constructed foods that pleased both the parents and teenagers at our event.
The plates were beautifully presented, and the teens LOVED the food, which is definitely an accomplishment.

I was lucky enough to have Basil Tree at a work party last week. I believe Val — the owner — had catered the party for free, as my coworker orders from her a LOT. Either way, it was still good!
Val talked to me for a while about the company and the food — it’s all natural and more upscale — which is NOT Thai, despite what I always think when I hear the name.
We were given 2 platters of sandwiches cut into quarters, which are served with picks in them, saying what they are. GENIUS. They also have a place card for each course, stating the food and ingredients as well.
I tried the Fresh Mozzarella (with nut free basil pesto and roasted peppers on focaccia) and the Vermonter (roast turkey, Vermont cheddar, and sliced apples on cranberry bread). I loved the cranberry bread! Both were pretty good, but my coworker said the Dilled Tuna (albacore tuna in a light dilled mayo on whole grain roll) was fantastic, so I wish I’d tried that!
For sides, Val brought the Mixed Baby Green Salad (baby greens with toasted pecans, orange sections and grapes with balsamic vinaigrette), which was very nice; the Green Bean, Tomato and Sweet Corn Salad (with fresh basil) — so light and fresh and tasty; and the Sundried Tomato Tortellini Salad (cheese tortellini with sun-​dried tomatoes, fresh tomato, artichoke hearts & calamata olive), which was too olive-​y for me, as I don’t like olives.
I didn’t try any of the desserts, but they LOOKED amazing.
I love the concept of Basil Tree — environmentally friendly, organic and good, quality, gourmet food.
I will definitely be adding them to my list of caterers!
