Citizens Bank

I’ve pretty much given up on Citizens since they went public. The fees have gone up and the office branch hours have gone down. I joined Citizens years ago because of their service and low fees and also because they were part of the SUM network and had lots of ATMS. I have a mortgage, home equity, checking and numerous savings accounts. They got out of SUM network a while ago but they had so many locations I didn’t really concern myself with it. However, I’m not going to be fee’d to death. Too many other great options. When I spoke to the representative about it he didn’t really seem to care. I was actually kind of surprised.

Reasonably convenient, many branches, low fees.

This guys need to be a little more friendly, I mean maybe was because I get there too early and they was little sleepy still, but is just not nice not even say good morning, after waiting for 35 minutes just to someone to take care of me, everything was very nice.

Can not recommend them for mortgage. Way to slow and unperson-​able. Started back in July and still waiting and did not close till end October. I have used this bank for years, and got to know some wonderful tellers, however the mortgage and business aspect of this bank needs major overhauls. The 2 loan officers I have encountered in my process were not good. The first one took my application and did nothing with it for over two weeks because he was leaving and «didn’t want his boss to know». It was one horrible experience after another and at one point I felt like I was going to have a break down. Too bad it doesn’t follow its motto of «Good Citizenship» with good banking.

Update as of June 2012: They do now have the «nifty» atm feature where you can deposit your checks without a envelope or slip. Good job.

Good customer service. Better than Bank of America.
Just a typical bank.

Service is usually quick & friendly. Saturday mornings the line can get a little long, but moves along quickly. The branch vice president (I think his name was David?) was super friendly and got several new accounts opened for us rather quickly and all of our out of state accounts closed.
The ATM «out back» does have a bit of a funky odor occasionally, but there are two ATMS in the vestibule, it’s card access only, and they never seem to run out of deposit envelopes! Yay!
My only problem is the entrance is not handicap accessible, and being a nanny with a double side by side stroller, it takes a small army of door holders to stop into the bank for a quick errand. We’re talking up a step and then through two sets of double doors. Oi.

I cant understand the bad feelings about this bank. Every time I go here I’m met with friendly service people who always seem to be happy to help you with whatever you need.
I usually am helped by April the teller or Adams the banker ANC both are amazing. While they type in your account information they make small talk and get to know you better. When you come back a week later they remember you and ask how things are going.
I love this bank.

It’s a bank!
Everyone seems to be hating on this bank. But I am here to stick out my neck for their customer service. Lisa the Branch manager is super nice and informed. Adams another one of the customer service reps is so accommodating and bears with me when I in list him to fight with my mortgage company.
April and the other teller’s are so nice. You want to go to a bank where they say «HI_​_​_​_​insert name» how are you? I like your shirt/​bag/​outfit/​style.
We are all funneling our hard earned cash into the corporate conglomerate’s no matter where we bank. At least this one appears to know «who are the people in your neighborhood».

They have an ATM but don’t enter the bank to access it. I walked in the bank and walked towards the back of the bank bc I saw the ATM was there (a lady who was busy looking busy didn’t flinch) I did ask her where the ATM was and she just said «out back». Okay you have to exit the bank to go to their ATM. It smelled like a bar room, I can’t explain how or why, but I was glad to get out of there quick. The inside of the bank looks like it could be in a movie (a movie that was made in 1969) because that looks like the last time it was renovated. I’d be surprised if they use computers from this century, too. Their parking lot was just like the bank, old, rundown, and sucky! They should just demolish this bank and put up another bar room.

For a bank that portrays itself as cutsie and fun (it even says hello! awww) they are in the end nothing but a bank. They are owned by a Scottish bank thus they have a vested interest in the community. Wait, no… the other way around. They couldn’t give two figs if you banked there or not. I like the way we play musical bank balances and they never seem to know exactly where my money is.
A trip to this location is like a weird trip back in time. You can tell that at one point this was a nice local branch of something or another. There’s wood desks and you can see in to the old vault. I imagine that 74 mergers later it had the weird Citizens green slapped all over it and tada you have the Lechmere branch!
Expect one teller and a wait. Once you get to the front the tellers are hit or miss they may or may not be nice, they may or may not be truthful. All depends on the day really. Calls to the phone center are no better and typically involve a representative that sighs. A lot. :(
I think they count on it being difficult to switch banks. So far it’s working. Some day I’ll get around to switching.
In short, they suck. One additional star because the branch is close to home and the dude who set up my account was pretty nice.
