My dentist of 30+ years referred me to Dr. Levine, because he thought a fistula in the gum under one of my front teeth likely indicated the nerve was infected and would require a root canal. I’ve had several root canals, so one more isn’t really much cause for concern. The only problem was I could only get an appointment with Dr. Levine for 9:45AM, and had to drive into Cambridge from Newton during rush-hour, which took over an hour. I wasn’t in the best of moods when I arrived at Dr. Levine’s office, and I’m sure it wasn’t pleasant for the staff to deal with me. Regardless, they were very considerate, and I wish I had been more so. Then I met Dr. Levine, and immediately realized that I was in the presence of a true gentleman and distinguished professional. Dr. Levine conducted a number of tests, each of which he explained to me, and determined that the tooth was not infected and no need for a root canal at this time after all. On checking out, I commented to the staff that Dr. Levine is truly brilliant, the visit was an educational experience, and it would have been worth a two-hour drive and more to have had this opportunity to meet him and been privileged to receive the benefit of his service.

I have been extremely impressed with Dr. Levine and his staff. I wish that his office handles more than root canals, because I would then come here for all of my dental needs. I fortunately have not had to do a root canal here, but I came to Dr. Levine about 3 – 4 times in the past two months because I needed evaluation and monitoring on two front teeth of mine that recently went through trauma and were not sure root whether canals would be needed. Dr. Levine has been very professional and patient throughout the process in each of my visits, and I have a lot of questions each time). He is very knowledgeable and nice. All of his staff are also very nice and warm. The entire experience is very pleasant and they helped me feel as relaxed as I could be under the circumstances. I feel that I can completely trust their suggestions and service., which is very important. I strongly recommend Dr. Levine and his staff!

Going into the appointment, I was really dreading getting my first root canal, but my experience with Dr. Levine was fantastic. He and his staff were highly experienced, skilled and friendly. Plus, there was no needless paperwork or waiting, as there often is with larger dentistry practices. But the best news of all was that I didn’t have to get a root canal! Dr. Levine was able to carefully remove a small piece of the tooth without performing the full procedure. To make a long story short, he saved me over $ 1000!

I had to get a root canal on my #20 tooth and wasn’t looking forward to it(big surprise there.) I had a raging infection on my gum line(about the size of a(shelled) peanut) I was able to schedule an appointment for the next day! And when I went in was greeted by a lovely receptionist who reassured me that I’d be taken care of and that there was nothing to be afraid of. Immediately after I filled out just one page of paperwork(it’s usually SO much more) the dental assistant brought me into the room and right behind her was Dr. Levine. They both made me feel right at home immediately. He took an X-ray of the tooth and we both looked at it. He told me what was going on and why I was in so much pain. Then he gave me two shots of Novocaine that he administered very slowly(he told me that doing it slower would make it sting a lot less– he was right.) He told me step by step what he was going to do before he did it, «I’m going to use small rotary tools now so you’ll feel a little vibration,» «I’m putting in a little solution into the root that will smell a little funny.» He was gentle and super fast. The whole root canal took 30 minutes! 30 minutes! Then he told me what to expect in the next few days, «Your infection should clear up quickly but may swell up just one more time before it gets better. If you feel any pain, call me right away.» It’s 1 day later and the swelling has gone WAY down and there was no pain at all. Within a couple hours I was chewing regularly. I have had fillings that A. Took longer and B. Hurt more. My insurance paid for most of it but without insurance it was about $ 1100. I’ve got Dental Dental Premium so they paid for 80 percent of it. I get really anxious about getting dental work done as I’ve had some botched fillings but everyone at the office really put me at ease and took very good care of me.
