IHR offers outpatient treatment services for adults, youth, and families struggling with substance use and/​or mental health issues. Clinicians work to support clients in addressing their substance use disorders by integrating parenting, mental health, and trauma counseling into treatment.

Treatment occurs in home, community, and office-​based settings, serving most towns in the Greater Boston area and Northeast Mass.

History

Established in 1989.

The Institute for Health and Recovery (IHR) is a statewide, nonprofit organization incorporated to provide services, policy and program development, research and capacity-​building activities. IHR provides training, consultation, technical assistance and curriculum development for state, local and national organizations to improve integration of best practices and policies into prevention and treatment programs.

Meet the Manager

Norma F.

Manager

Norma Finkelstein, PhD, LICSW is founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Health and Recovery, a Massachusetts statewide services, policy, program development, training, and research organization. Prior to this, Dr. Finkelstein was the founder and Executive Director of the Women’s Alcoholism Program/​CASPAR, Inc., a comprehensive prevention, education, and treatment program for chemically dependent women and their families. She received her MSW from the University of Michigan and her PhD from the Florence Heller School, Brandeis University.
