Very fast service. So much better than the boutique places I used to go to and much cheaper to boot. I had my new prescription sunglasses in about 1.5 hours and they were exactly what I wanted. Highly recommend this store

I am very disappointed by my recent purchase at Lenscrafters at the Cambridge Side Galleria store. The frame had a defect, when i got the frame replaced, the lens were not fit correctly. I had to make multiple trips, and the manager was quite rude.

I stopped in here after work last night without an appointment, to get new lenses put in the frames I currently use. A manager (last name Pineda, I can’t remember her first name) immediately asked if I needed help, and quickly processed my information. She was very friendly and helpful, when I was expecting a grumpy mall employee. The only thing I will say is that they claim to get yours lenses to you in under an hour but I ended up having to pick them up the next day since they were not finished yet.

I bought eyeglass frames at the Cambridgeside Galleria LensCrafters. I then had lenses put in by another company. I realized that I hated the frames because of the color. I went to the Galleria location, and dealt with Steve, the manager. He willingly allowed me to exchange the frames for the same style in a different color, and switched the demo lenses with the prescription lenses. I was thrilled because I had wrongly assumed I would have to buy new glasses and have new lenses made. Steve was professional, efficient and gave me no hassle whatsoever. Now I’m happy with my glasses.

I had gone to LensCrafters a couple of years ago for an eye exam and glasses, and I liked the two doctors who were working there – they did a thorough exam and were very pleasant, and the cost was reasonable. I needed a new prescription so that I could reorder contact lenses, and found out that the opthalmology practice has changed: the new doctors don’t have most of the information that the old ones had and (according to the receptionist) don’t seem to feel that it’s their problem. When I made the appointment I mentioned that I needed to get more contact lenses, but after the exam (which was much less through and professional than the previous one – the receptionist, who is not an eye specialist, was the person who did some of the testing) I was given a prescription for glasses, which I almost never wear, and nothing for contacts. When I asked about this, the receptionist told me that for that I would have to have a separate contact lens exam, which would cost an additional $ 95, not covered by insurance. This is not the way things are done in any other practice I’ve been to (including the previous practice that was at LensCrafters), and it was totally frustrating, particularly since the response when I questioned this was basically «too bad, that’s the way we do things.» The last time I will use this optical service.

I had my glasses quickly within an hour. I was going on a trip this week and was very concerned I wouldn’t have my glasses for my trip. Lenscrafters saved the day and I will be back for my next pair.

My contact lens prescription hasn’t changed in awhile and I’ve been ordering from
without any issues. Their customer service called me to let me know my order didn’t go through because Lenscrafters doesn’t have any records under my name. I called Lenscrafters to find out what was going on and was told that they only have an eyeglass prescription on file for me. I asked why, and was told that the person who saw me left the group and «took all his records with him.» Where did he go and how can I find my prescription? And why would the prescriptions suddenly be separate when I’ve never had issues before?
Answer? «I wasn’t there when he left, so I have no idea.»
This is ridiculous on many levels and I honestly just can’t with it right now, which is why I hung up and didn’t freak out or ask to speak to someone else. I could start with disorganized, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Not to mention expensive and dangerous because I am out of contact lenses and now have to go through the process all over again because of this incompetence.
Zero stars and zero chance of ever coming back to this place again.

I don’t really have anything bad to say about LensCrafters the store that sells glasses and contacts. But the optometry services they offer to go along with the products are so bad. so bad.
unclean. unprofessional. completely disorganized. not friendly.
Eye insurance is tricky. One thing I try to do every year to save money is to order two years worth of contact lenses off of a single prescription. Then you only have to pay for the contact lens fitting every two years. And I can undestand how in some cases an eye doctor might insist you get a contact lens fitting every year because they feel your eye health depends on it. But that is extremely rare and certainly not the case with me. The optometrist at this LensCrafters would not allow my prescription to be filled. I can’t even believe that is legal, but apparently it is. If you have a prescription that is good for a year, you can usually fill it as many times as you want (for glasses and contacts).
Just. No. Don’t go to this place for your eye exam. I do not believe it is possible to have a pleasant experience. If you want to get your glasses in an hour, get your exam somewhere else and bring in the prescription.

I would give this place 6 stars if I can. What made it the best experience ever was the great optometrist they have (older guy). He was superb. The rest of the staff is so-​so, but I loved the sales man from Morocco and the people who work in the lens lab. Got awesome glasses for much less than you’d expect. Highly recommend if you don’t rush them…

I think this business is a rip off but I have not found a place that does one hour service yet. So unfortunately I have to give my business here. Everything is pricey! I came in to buy new sunglasses for driving and need a prescription, they cannot fill it for me because the lens were not in stock. They told me to wait a week, fine. Two days after placing my order my glasses were ready, which surprised me. Came in to pick them up and the lens was an ugly brown color. I had expected gray and had asked for gray when i placed my order. Great, now I have to wait another week for these bad boys to come ready.

The doctor was standoffish and kind of a jerk. The staff seemed inexperienced. I got zero help picking out frames, and they were not properly fitted to my face. Just a poor experience. I would not go back.

«I can’t say enough» about my experience today at LensCrafters in the galleria. I walk in with my broken glasses and 1.5 hours later I walked home with an eye exam completed, new glasses new case and a 30% off discount. Everyone there is extremely helpful & friendly… they definitely made the trip a good time. Dr. Summer was an absolute sweet heart. I love her! She was so comforting during the uncomfortable parts of the exam it was so refreshing. I highly suggest stopping in for an eye exam (especially for the affordable price) oh! & if you have AAA it’s even cheaper so be sure to tell them.

Terrible. I’ve been shopping at LenCrafters all of my life for my glasses, but this one friggin sucks. The only thing they have going for them is frame selection, after that…
The sales staff I met fell into 3 categories:
1) is young and clueless. It’s very obvious that their training consisted of «here’s what we offer, but you should really just sell this one because it makes us gross amounts of money. Otherwise, good luck. we don’t know what else to tell you.» You can see how this might be problematic as my sales associate was unable to help me pick out frames, unable to process my insurance, unable to inform me about the shape of lenses and how the glasses would look with my prescription. She was however, very able to harp on me for «better coating» for an extra $ 80. For 30 minutes. I admit I got weak and caved after 30 minutes of double teaming by her and another associate.
2) is older and airy, which apparently makes her think that that will be charming, endearing, or whatever, to me. She was, however, one of the worst sales people i’ve ever met and I had the same problems with her that I did with #1. The thing about working in this type of retail is you want people to look good and be happy with their appearance. Not ONCE did either of these associates go through frames with me. The frames were «adjusted» in short order and NEVER READJUSTED after I received them. which we’re getting to.
3) is the manager and snobby, rude, abrupt, and quite unhelpful.
So the story is, as you can tell, that #1 and 2 sold me a pair of frames without much consultation, spent most of their time upselling me, and when the frames arrived (after almost 2 weeks. which is ridiculous). When the frames finally DID come in they were ridiculously thick, and I refused to take them. The manager called me the next day and was very unapologetic, didn’t really give me any other options, and told me to «come in» and she would help me with some other frames. When I DID go into the store, there was no helping to be found. Just accusations and her telling me that if I wanted a thinner lens I would need to plunk down another $ 250 or $ 300. I’m sorry, but your crappy glasses, and service, are not getting my money.
Currently I have these glasses and am debating returning them. If I do, I won’t be buying another pair from them, that’s for sure. Either way, actually, I won’t be buying another pair from these guys, ever.

I’ve searched high and low for a good eye dr. since moving to the Boston area 4 years ago and have finally found one! I’ve been to Newbury St. to Copley to Quincy and none of the places compare to the excellent service I have found at Lenscrafters in the Cambridgeside Galleria. This place was also considerably less expensive for an eye exam than other places. As I wear contact I know there is always a charge for a contact lens fitting that isn’t covered by insurance. I have paid around $ 100 in the past for the eye exam and fitting. Here my insurance covered the regular exam ($ 20 co-​pay) and than the fitting was an extra $ 30 — for $ 50 total for the eye exam that is a bargain. They even let me choose when to come back to have my eyes dilated so it was later in the day when I wouldn’t have to wander around blurry eyed for long.
All the people I came in contact with were more than helpful. From the people at the front desk in the back to Dr. Tanner to the people who fit you for glasses they were all excellent. Especially compared to other places I have been, they really know what they are doing here. I can’t say enough good things about the staff.
They have a good selection of glasses. I didn’t order my contacts at the store — I always get them online, but I did purchase glasses and that went smoothly.

On my first visit (due to previous pair being broken), I was told I had to update my prescription in order to get a new pair of glasses. Fine. Then they told me they’d just bill me, and that I should fax the prescription to my insurance. My insurance told me this is not the case, expressed confusion as to why this optometrist would have told me that, and finally set things right.
Then my new prescription was much worse than the older one. So I had to come back.
But the optician didn’t actually change the lenses on my return visit. So I had to come back again.
Now I’m returning yet again due to a) the glasses starting to fall apart (after three weeks — seems unusual) and b) the lenses, while with the proper prescription in some parts, having noticeably blurry sections even near the center.
I came here 3 years ago and didn’t have any troubles. Don’t know what’s happened in the interim, but it isn’t good.

I’d give this Lencrafters location a 3.5 but am rounding up with stars. I have been shopping for glasses at Lenscrafters for the past five years, and I am used to very great service in an upscale vision store.
This location didn’t have very many sales associates working, although we went on a weekend. There were only two associates on the sales floor, and only one of them could adjust glasses. I waited about five minutes before an associate asked if he could help me. I wanted to look at some of the luxury/​high-​end frames, and he opened the case up and stood there quietly while my husband and I tried on several pairs. He didn’t rush us, and he offered his opinion when I narrowed it down to two pairs. When it came time to ring the transaction up, he was very informative and walked me through ever step of the insurance claim, even though I am fairly familiar with the process.
They promised me my glasses in an hour, and they were very prompt. Since there were now three sales associates working and the store was a little bit busier, I thought I might have to wait a while to get my glasses, have them adjusted, and be ready to go. But the lab manager came out and adjusted them for me. He was very patient with my need for the eye pieces to fit just right (since I have a flat Asian nose), and I was very impressed.
I would give them more stars if they had more associates who were all trained similarly, and I think their selection was average. Overall, I would come back for the next set of glasses.

Backstory: Two weeks ago, some really awesome person decided to break into my car, while it was sitting in my driveway no less, and rifle through all of my CDs and glove compartment handbooks. And after they were done with that, and they decided that they didn’t want any of my CDs or glove compartment handbooks, they thought it would be a good idea to steal my prescription sunglasses. Now these weren’t just any old prescription sunglasses. They were gigantic, and the frames were hot pink and purple. If the person actually wore them, they would 1) likely have googly-​eyes within minutes because my eyesight is screwed up and 2) be immediately recognizable to me. So if I ever see someone walking down the street wearing these sunglasses, they had better beware my wrath. It will creep up on them with a vengeance. And they will be sorry.
After letting the sad reality of my loss sink in for two weeks, I decided that getting a new pair of sunglasses might help in my grieving. We were in the Galleria, and their store looked clean and nice, and I thought they might have some good options. I was right. I found some darling purple frames that, while not as cool as my original ones, would suit me just fine. So I brought them up the girl at the desk, and she asked for my prescription. I gave her my glasses, and told her I had these glasses made there, and that the prescription was the same. But she said she needed an actual doctor’s prescription. This was doubly annoying because at my last appointment, the doctor gave me a new prescription, but I never filled it because there was such a negligible different between that and my current prescription. They said they could only make them with the new prescription. Ugh. So that meant that I had to get new lenses for my regular glasses too, so that both glasses would have the same prescription. And it also meant I had to get the prescription faxed over from my doctor’s office, which was no easy feat.
The whole thing was very time-​consuming, and what I thought would only take like 20 minutes ended up taking about four times that. I don’t know why it took that long, but it did. Luckily a different girl ended up placing my actual order, since if I had stuck with the original girl, I might still be sitting there right now. They were able to have my regular glasses ready in an hour, but the sunglasses could only be ready next-​day. Not a huge deal. The best part of this experience was finding out that I get a 35% discount as a Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare member (35% off the complete pair, 25% off the lenses only). So it ended up costing me $ 300 for the sweet new sunglasses and the new lenses in my regular old frames.
I’m happy with the products and the prices aren’t bad with the discount, but depending on who helps you, the service can leave a lot to be desired.

Worst. Experience. Ever.
I ordered frames and lenses on the 28^th of December and I STILL HAVEN’T RECEIVED THEM. The lenses have come in twice and were wrong both times. The staff has been pretty useless and unapologetic about this optical debacle.
Nobody can tell me when they expect the lenses to arrive. Apparently they are coming by stork or Pony Express.
When I asked about having them rushed I was told they can’t do that. I explained to them that, aside from all of the delays, the other frustrating thing about all of this is that my prescription changed. So, you know, I’d like to be able to see sometime soon.
More recently, when I called the store to inquire and later complain, I got this spacey hippy who, aside from mocking me and taking a laissez-​faire approach to my inquiry, explained to me that «the Optical Gods are not on your side.» Um, what? Really?
Really, Lenscrafters? This is your idea of customer service?
I placed my order over four weeks ago now. I don’t think I’m reaching for the stars here, but then again the staff are so unfriendly and incompetent that maybe I am. I think this branch should just be shut down due to uselessness.

After an awful experience with Cohen’s downtown, I decided to take my prescription here, and other than a 15-​minute wait to be helped, it was great. My lenses were done to perfection in an hour, the lady who helped me was a joy, and two teenage girls were having a very loud and profane argument in the mall, just out front. Good times.
But seriously, night and day contrast with those hucksters at Cohen’s. I could hardly be happier.
As an aside: they have a coupon right now for 70% off nonprescription sunglasses, excluding several brand names but not RayBan. Wanting a pair of Wayfarers, I inquired about it and was told that since it was theoretically possible to put prescription lenses in Wayfarers (ala Clark Rockefeller) that Wayfarers were excluded too. I always thought of prescription sunglasses as sunglasses with actual prescription lenses installed. Let me put it this way: you buy a Chevy S-​10. Four-​wheel drive is available as an option but you decide against it. Nobody would ever describe the truck you bought as a «four-​wheel drive» vehicle. That and the wait were a little bothersome, other than that, the experience was as good as could be expected.

Okay take this down:
Go to lenscrafters in the Cambridge Side Galleria for a friendly optomitrist, quick appointments on short notice, and decent rates…
the experience isn’t anything worthy of an amazing Unilocal…
BUT for your glasses… never buy them at your optomitrists office again… the website above has quality glasses (I have two pairs) and I paid about $ 10 per pair… AND i have an UBER strong prescription… AND i have an astigmitism…
so this is a small review for lenscrafters… and a giant shout out for zennioptical…
