Specialties
As the showroom for the MIT Press, we stock all of the new books and journals that we publish, as well as the majority of our older titles that are still available.
Additionally, about half of our inventory is a carefully curated selection of other publishers’ books in those disciplines in which we work.
Amongst our 20,000 books you will find:
Art, Architecture, Biology, Business, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Design, Digital Culture, Economics, Energy, Environmental Science, Game Studies, Gastronomy, Linguistics, Mathematics, Neuroscience, New Media, Philosophy, Photography, Physics, Political Science, Robotics, Science Studies & Technology.
We also dedicate significant space to sale books and markdowns, both from the MIT Press and other publishers.
We may be small, but we pack a punch!
History
Established in 1980.
The MIT Press Bookstore opened its doors in 1980 as a showroom for the publications of the MIT Press, the nonprofit scholarly publishing program of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Over the years, we’ve added other publisher’s books to our carefully curated collection in an effort to showcase the best of scholarly, cutting-edge, and stimulating publishing.
