One Kendall Square Garage

I parked in this garage this morning at about 10:15am to go meet some friends for breakfast at the Friendly Toast. I had been to the restaurant the week before and parked here, got validated, and paid $ 3 for about 2 hours of parking. Thinking that rate was fair, I happily parked my car here again this morning.
When I returned at 11:45am to pay, the cashier told me I owed $ 10. I explained that I had validation. She told me that validation only works at 5pm. I reminded her that I had been there last weekend and that validation worked just fine in the morning. She told me on weekdays, it starts at 5pm. Different than what I was told earlier (and by the restaurant), I asked for the manager.
James came out and, in as rude a way as possible, told me that I was wrong and I owed $ 10 if I wanted to get my car out. I was shocked at how matter-​of-​factly he told a customer he was wrong and there would be no flexibility. I explained to him that I had been told differently, clearly there had been a misunderstanding, and I was under the impression that validation would work fine. He replied, curtly, «Well, I’m not the restaurant. I don’t care.»
What an asshole! He was rude and inconsiderate. When I told him that I will never return to the parking garage and he will be solely to blame for losing a customer if he can’t make this right (or at least compromise somehow), he said «Great, don’t park here again. I don’t care.»
I asked for his boss and he gave me a phone number. I called and it went to voicemail. Worried that if I stayed any longer they’d try to charge me more, I forked over the $ 10 angrily and told James that I would never be back but I would be sure to call Tom, his boss and the owner, to let him know how dissatisfied i was. James didn’t care.
Again, I was totally shocked at the cavalier way this guy treated me. I was shocked at how rude and inconsiderate he was. I am appalled at how I was treated and how in this case, the customer was told he was wrong several times and no attempts were made to try to right the wrong.
This parking garage just lost a very loyal customer.
Tom, Mr. Owner, if you’re out there — please review your policy. It was not stated anywhere that validation wouldn’t work. And do something about James, your manager. He’s an asshole.

This is the garage located by the Kendall Square Cinema at One Kendall Square, and so the Cinema validates parking and they have a pretty sweet deal given that the whole nature of going out for a movie takes a different chunk of time that going out for a meal does — 4 hours for $ 3 and $ 1 per additional hour.
For my patronage of the garage, however, I did not visit the cinema. Rather I was visiting one of the restaurants located in Technology Square. Assuming that their validation deal with the garage is similar to those of the other local businesses, I have listed the validated fee here:
Validation
1 hour or less — $ 2
2 hours or less — $ 3
4 hours or less — $ 5
Weekdays:
Enter after 5pm, Exit by 4am
Over 4 hours: Regular rates apply
Weekend:
Enter anytime, exit by 4am
Over 4 hours: $ 5 Flat rate
So if you are doing dinner and a movie, definitely get validated at the movie theater on weeknights, and at the restaurant on weekends if you are hanging out for over 4 hours.
The garage is brightly lit, but the spaces are a touch narrow. Remember to pay at the window on the ground floor before you get to your car.
You’d think your car would be safer in a garage than on the street, but my friend’s car had its back light broken here, which was a major bummer, but doesn’t affect my rating of the garage.
