Even though the place was packed for Sunday Brunch, the staff was able to seat our group of five fairly quickly – which was appreciated. The brunch menu was pretty extensive. However, they seemed to be out of quite a few deli menu items; I was looking forward to ordering a Blintz. A member of my group wanted a soy latte, but apparently they don’t offer any non-dairy options. The service was just okay and the food was solid, everyone was pleased with their meals. I got the Parisian French toast with Brie and fruit preserves – really delicious. I’ve also had the Eggs Maryland – also a good choice. Overall, I would recommend S & S.

So i ask my coworker whats good to eat around this area. This is my new spot for lunch. Reasonable price. I’ve had their crab cakes and wpasn’t a fan. Then I had their seafood casserole which was pretty good. It reminded me of the Legal Seafood casserole but cheaper. Can’t wait to try other stuff on the menu. As well as their breakfast

I came to S&S because some born and raised locals would not shut up about the famous appetizer S&S wings. They are worth not shutting up about. While the majority of the menu seems to be average diner food, the sweet and spicy boneless wings are well above average. The chicken meat is tender, juicy and perfectly fried. The sauce must have been the cause of the phrase«finger licking good.» It’s primarily sweet, with an acidic tartness, and a mild kick of spice towards the end. They know you’ll want to drown your meat in it and thus serve very generous portions. Cant say much about the place overall, but the staff know their facts and the wings are a must have–

We decided to give this place a shot and ordered some food for delivery. Everyone has raved about the food so we figured why not. I ordered the fried pickles and when they arrived it was just a container of sliced pickles… NOTFRIED! I will say the other food was good, but no utensils ! Stuck with a tray of raw pickles… Not sure if we will order from here again!

After a night of drinking my hangover remedy is this restaurant. Parking is always a project but a little patience managed to get one in the lot. Sunday as all places it’s always busy. Service was a little off but I know my meal will be good so no problem in waiting. I get the usual corn beef hash as seen in my pic. It’s alot of food but I leave nothing behind. Coffee good and so is the fresh squeezed orange juice.

Best brunch in Boston! I love its old traditional cooking style. We go there once a month for its brunch specially. It is really good and really fair price for what you get.

I was born in Cambridge and have family in the area, so the S&S has been a constant place to go to for my family. My dad and my grandma grew up in Cambridge and have been visiting since the 1950’s. If I am ever in the Boston /Cambridge area, the S&S is a must-visit place. The S&S is good for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I have tried quite a few of their meals, but my favorite one is the stuffed chicken breast. The chicken is cooked great, and the stuffing has raisins and tastes great! It is covered with their Supreme Sauce, plus it comes with 2 sides: you can get a side salad, corn on the cob, vegetables, french fries, rice, cole slaw, etc. The portions are extremely generous and I always end up taking some home! Another staple I always like to get are the S&S Wings. I normally don’t like to eat chicken wings, but the S&S creates their own unique sauce and the wings are always cooked just right. Even when I don’t go out to eat at the S&S, I sometimes get some orders of S&S wings to bring home and share with everyone! There are a few not-so-good servers I’ve had, but a majority of the staff is extremely friendly and have been there many years. If you are in the Cambridge area, this is a must-visit place to grab a bite!

If you don’t know what Borsch is don’t care about this place: they are somewhat good with Eastern European meals and cheese cakes but I wasn’t super excited about other meals, especially seafood.

Came here for brunch on a Sunday morning and the place was packed! You put your name in with the lady at the deli, who tells everyone that the wait is about 20 minutes, regardless of your party size or how many people are ahead of you. My friend and I ended up waiting about 45 minutes for a table for 2. She did seem like she had a very fair and well-oiled process for seating people, and despite the long wait, we never felt that we were passed by a group that came after as. The only complaint we had about her system was that she gave people way too many chances to be seated. She would call their number 5 – 6 times, but if they showed up even later and asked«oh, did you pass our number?» she would still seat them next. In my world, you snooze, you lose, buster! Once we were finally seated, the waiter came over and took our orders quickly. I had the bagel & lox with a side of bacon, while my friend had the matzo ball soup and blintzes. My bagel & lox was good, delicious chewy bagel and real lox, not smoked salmon. The bacon was crispy, a somewhat small portion for the price, but not bad. My friend said his matzo ball soup and blintzes were good(not as good as grandma’s, of course). Surprisingly, with how fast we were served and their apparent motivation to turn over tables quickly, it took a remarkably long time to track down the server to get and settle the bill. As far as Jewish delis go, S&S has an extensive menu with what appears to be good renditions of all sorts of breakfast and brunch items as well as grandmother’s favorites. I don’t know if I would wait another 45 minutes for it, but with a shorter wait would definitely be back in the future. This is review #150!

I’ve been coming to the S&S since I was a child, so maybe my review is clouded by nostalgia but I LOVE this place. Their breakfast is delicious– I love that they always serve it up with a fresh fruit cup. One of the best things I’ve ever got there was the crab eggs Benedict. Their sandwiches are also great– fantastic Ruebens, corn beef sandwiches, etc.

We recently moved in this area and have been to S & S for Sunday brunch 4 weeks in a roll! This place is amazing and really love the dinning atmosphere. The first time we passed by was a late night. We just wanted to check it out and we told them we just moved. They were super friendly and recommended several restaurants nearby for us to try. We felt very welcomed! Their«Brunch from the Grill» selection is delicious as well as almost all the omelettes. Roasted Salmon Hash and Eggs Oscar are also good options. I enjoyed their freshly pressed orange juice with my brunch too. The dining experience is really pleasant and all the staff there is very friendly. Highly recommend!

When I first started working at my current office, several friends and family members commented on how lucky I was to be conveniently located across from S & S Deli. I was not familiar with the deli at the time, but apparently it is a very famous piece of Inman Square’s history and was passed down through four generations of family. The popular deli soon became an important part of my lunch routine and I certainly appreciate its close proximity to work. After almost ten check-ins, I figured it was time to write a review. In addition to the deli counter and take out service, S & S has a rather large dining room with ample seating. The left side of the restaurant is a large deli area while the full service dining room is found on the right. The restaurant is open all day serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A special brunch menu is offered on the weekend both Saturday and Sunday. Planning a party? Catering is available as well. I order from S & S about once a week and have tried a few of their sandwiches and wraps. Typically I eat lunch at my desk so I call in my order and then walk over to pick it up. There is no delivery service available. I have not had a chance to dine inside the restaurant yet, but I would love to try the brunch sometime. I think their lunch options are decent, but the food is not as good as I expected especially considering the hype. I particularly like the California Wrap(bacon, lettuce, avocado, blue cheese on a spinach wrap) and the Turkey Club served double decker style. The sandwiches and wraps are neatly packed with plastic utensils, napkins, a bag of Cape Cod chips(Terra Chips upon request) and fruit making it super convenient to transport back to the office. They have a bakery as well with a large selection of goodies. My boss surprised me with S & S carrot cake on my birthday and I must say it was one of the most delicious carrot cakes I have ever had. The payment system is a little quirky and inconvenient. Only credit cards are accepted as payment at the deli counter. Therefore, if I come in to pay with cash I am sent over to the cashier in the dining area. Once i have a receipt, I return to the deli for the food. It would be so much easier to pay right at the deli, but I guess there must be a good reason for this system. While on the subject of money, I must say I find S & S somewhat overpriced. Most sandwiches and wraps are between $ 10-$ 12 which adds up fast if ordering out more than once a week. Nevertheless, I am glad to have this famous deli as a convenient and dependable lunch option and I do look forward to my weekly order from S & S.

Have been going to S & S For years and am actually shocked that I dont have a review. Love the Monte Cristo, LOVE The soups… Love everything there actually. Now that Im working fairly close we plan to visit alot more often! Love the Hummus plate. The service is somewhat less than desirable, as most of the waitresses are the same ones that have been there FORYEARS, and tend to give better service to people they know. We have lately been getting great service, so lets just hope it all stays that way.

This is our usual Brunch spot when in Boston. The food is amazing, but the service is pretty sub-par. In my opinion, that makes up for the bad service. If you are a seafood lover, definitely give the Eggs Maryland a try. The crab cakes are very flavorful and the hollandaise sauce adds a great touch. The portions are large, so you’ll be set until dinner.

Food is so-so; always have a hard time deciding what to settle on. Service is so-so; with exception to Gretchen, who is an absolute gem. I only return because of a relative that insists on dining here when we go out to eat. My main qualm with S&S is that the dining room and bar area are pretty filthy. I’ve seen a mouse in the dining room more than once, and the gnat/fruit fly situation is absolutely disgusting. Don’t believe me? Check out the wall at the end of the bar. There are so many flies stuck to the wallpaper that it’s become some kind off weird fly cemetery. I had to touch the wall to make sure that it wasn’t just sticky fly-paper disguised as wallpaper. There’s a lot of competition in Inman Square and surrounding communities. S&S can get on par with other establishments in the area if they improve the quality of the food(fresh not frozen), change-up the dinner menu, and take better care to maintain cleanliness.

Este Deli me gustó mucho. En 2019 cumple 100 años. Tomamos sándwich de Corned beef pero todo parecía muy bueno. Precios razonables.

You WANT this place to be great — But its not. It’s adequate. It’s ok. It’s… FOOD. But it is NOT great. If you want great — The Neighborhood is 5⁄10 minutes away(in Somerville) Zaftigs in Brookline Deluxe Town Diner in Watertown All 3 are TERRIFIC!!! The last time I gave S&S a shot was last week. Wanted to order a piece of quiche to go from the counter. Even though the girl working there SAWME, she continued talking to her other employee friend until I had to interrupt and ask if I could order. Then, because I am assuming she was so engaged(still) in her private conversation I realized when I got home she gave me the wrong kind and I had to drive ALLTHEWAYBACK. To add insult to injury, when I finally got to eat it, it was hard as a ROCK on top. I mean, it got a little softer after a microwaved the crap out of it but before that I literally could NOT stick a plastic fork in it. Solid. (Weird, right?) The other thing that I don’t(other than the fact that the food is just ok) is that there is no kids menu. I mean, really? You want me to order my toddlers a $ 16.95 entrée for dinner? No thanks.

I just completed brunch with my family and we were looking forward to a nice experience for my sisters birthday. Instead we had a waitress(Melissa — thin blonde hair) that was rude and had a bad attitude. To set the context of this email : — we were a table of 12(8 adults and 4 toddlers) — the toddlers were moving the sugar packets from one container to another pretending that they were tickets Melissa upon seeing this stated to our faces in a very rude tone«Now I can’t use the sugars and have to restock them». 4 of the adults at the table have worked in the food and beverage industry. Rule #1: don’t make these types of comments in front of the customer. She then proceeded to complain about us within earshot of us to her co-workers. Rule #2: don’t complain about the customers where the customers can hear you. My sister in law and I after paying the check went to voice our dissatisfaction with the service to the manager. The manager was very frazzled and busy and while she listened to us, I’m not sure she actually heard us. Rule #3: pretend to listen and hear the customer while they are voicing their concerns. What is truly sad about the whole experience is that the food is good and we were having a good time with our family and because our waitress was sour and rude during our whole dining experience we will never return and will never recommend your establishment to anyone. We will actually discourage our friends from it since we all have toddlers. I don’t know if this message will get any responses back from anyone but we feel better that we are posting this message because hopefully this will help make someone else’s experience who have toddlers better than ours.

There catering manager is a heartless joke. While trying to formalize a post funeral reception, I was laughed at and told it was going to be a drunk fest. For whatever reason this pub considers themselves the only show in town. Let’s be clear, this gum snapping, Flo wannabe new the reason for our inquiry, yet lacked any compassion. Any business done here would be a direct slap in the face to any Military Veteran, Father, Husband and dedicated public servant. AVOIDAVOIDAVOID

This place is huge, everything on the breakfast menu seems to come with a bagel, and despite plenty of other brunch options in the area, S & S checks all of the boxes of a decent diner with historical charm. I plan to return for lunch to try the widely-lauded pastrami sandwich. The wait system for a table is confusing, with no list, just some finger pointing around the room«two — three — group of six — another two» and all of your party must be present to be seated. On a Saturday morning, we were seated right away and promptly served ice water. As with most diners, there was a bottomless cup of coffee, though it took a few waves to get a refill. I ordered the«Brunch Omelette» — a special of bacon, spinach, Monterrey jack cheese, tomato, and pesto. The pesto was blended into the eggs, a nice touch. It was served with not-too-greasy home fries, a bagel with cream cheese, and a cup of fruit. Overall, a good, satisfying breakfast, especially to catch up with a friend. Service was satisfactory and our plates arrived quickly — though they should definitely have someone running around and topping off coffees. I’ll be back to try the pastrami!
