Douja is amazing and gets to your needs when you are desperate!

Douja is awesome! She is kind warm and will take good care of your hair. Another great thing about Sublime is that they use top of the line hair products and make up!

Went there twice for waxing.
Douja is professional, fast, and friendly.
The only flaw is that she is the only person running the place, which makes it sometimes slow and inefficient.

I went in for a brazilian; the (owner?) was very pleasant and the experience was nice; She seemed stressed out despite having an empty salon — she said her assistant didn’t come in. The wax was a bit painful, but it’s been a long time since I got a wax so I didn’t worry about it. However, when I got home the burning never really subsided and now the next day I can see that I have ACTUAL burns/​skin lift. Won’t be back.

I have been going to Sublime for about a year and I have always been treated very well. Every time I call, I am able to schedule an appointment really fast. The prices are also a lot more reasonable than what you can find around Boston/​Cambridge.
The lady in charge, Douja, is a sweetheart and I actually look forward to my appointment every time.

My boyfriend and I got haircuts here earlier today and both cuts were one of the best we’ve ever had around here (and we’ve tried a lot of places around here). Douja also managed to schedule us in at the last minute even though she was quite busy today and yet she didn’t rush on us and was very helpful! I will say that my haircut was not quite what I had described, but it ended up being a flattering cut anyway.

I keep receiving complements after my latest haircut with Douja, and that compelled me to write this review (my first ever review). Douja is very talented and has done an amazing job with my hair both times I’ve come in. She knows what to do because she has vision to see what will look good on me. With my hair I’ve never really known what style to get, so it’s nice to rely on and trust her opinion. I have never really found a barber shop or salon that I like enough to keep returning to, but now I plan on getting every haircut at Sublime.

I’ve been getting waxes for about 10 years, and figured I’d give this place a try since it got such great Unilocal reviews.
It was hands down the worst wax experience I’ve ever had. When I arrived it they weren’t that busy but the woman who seemed to be in charge let the receptionist do my wax. She lifted about 7 square inches of skin off of my face, and now it’s scabbed over. I’ve had skin lift before, but this is an actual LAYER of skin missing. It was like she had no waxing experience at all.
She did my whole face in 3 huge patches, didn’t pull the skin taught so everything just got torn. After the terror, she TOSSED me a bottle of oil and told me to put it on my face and speed walked back to her desk to keep texting. My skin was so raw that I was calling for help and no one came until I was within 2 feet of the desk and even then she ran over, lead me to a bathroom to put «cold water» on it and ran back to text. The woman in charge tried to help but it was too late and no one ever apologized. This is easily going to take 3 weeks to heal and I can’t even go to work tomorrow because it’s so bad. The wound is actually 3 inches by 4 inches wide. I can’t believe it. I have no idea who this «Douja» is, but all I know is that no one cared that day at all about the wound and I was never apologized to. Accidents happen, but this is so bad it’s unforgivable and they should have apologized either way.

I’ve been coming to Douja for years for hair and waxing, and now drive over from Boston to see her. She uses excellent products for color, is a master hair stylist, and painless waxing just the way you want it. She has had a couple of really bad assistants over the years who earned the bad reviews; she often has to run her business alone, which means it can be slow at busy times. But her talent is worth the occasional ups and downs — she has a fun personality (in her case, diva is a complement), honest as the day is long, reasonable prices.

I just got the absolute best blowdry of my life. I’m pretty sure that isn’t an exaggeration. 35 mins w shampoo. All good products. And the best. She tamed my mane… She really knows what’s shes doing. Wow. Thank you thank you!!!

Summer is on it’s way and that means it’s time to get… uhm, down there, back in shape. It’d been months since my last Brazilian so I knew I was in for it. After living in Brazil for three years, I had grown accustomed to waxing but it’s so darn expensive here and I haven’t yet had a wax worth what I paid for. I had resigned to doing them myself (quite poorly at that) and then finally gave up over the winter months. hey, no bikinis needed, right? Anyhow, the time had come. Spring cleaning.
I had already searched high and low in Boston for a good quality and well priced Brazilian wax. After moving to Central Square I searched Unilocal (I course) for yet another recommendation as I still hadn’t found someone reliable after two years in the area. And I have to say, I’m finally satisfied. Douja is amazing! I called at 530 and she snuck me in for a 630 appointment and I was out the door by 640. Heck, I can come in in the morning before work at this rate! She did a fantastic job and the speed and ease of the waxing is what I loved the most. A few hours later all of the redness and irritation is completely gone and I’m good to go. (Note: I have super sensitive skin so waxing is always a somewhat traumatic experience for it!!)
Needless to say, I’m sold. Great value. Super fast service. And to to top it all off, she’s an incredibly friendly person.
Only bummer, they don’t take AmEx :(

Ok so there’s usually just one hair stylist here but she’s very nice and has interesting stories from her home country Morocco. This is a great place if you’re in the area and need a quick haircut — it’s only about $ 20-​$ 25 too, and even if she’s busy she’ll make time for you. I can’t speak for women but if you’re a guy in the area, this place will definitely work well for a solid haircut.

Douja is hands-​down the best waxer I’ve been to. Sometimes she’s distracted, and there isn’t a ton of fluffy «spa» extras, and frankly I like it that way. The customer doesn’t pay extra for frills — you go in, get top-​quality work, pay an affordable price, and leave. If you come during slow times and get her full attention, she is really fun to talk to, but either way, she does excellent work. I’d trust her work blindfolded over any other waxer full-​sighted. Like most South Asians, I have a complicated facial hair situation, and it doesn’t faze her in the slightest. I actually moved really far away and got her recommendation for a new salon, but then I ended up regularly trekking back here instead, because when you find someone like Douja, you stick with her.

I wanted to make an update on my last review, because while initially Douja did a fantastic job, the quality was not the same after the first few times (just like what Iris said in her review)…
First of all, the salon badly needs a receptionist, because Douja and her one other stylist would constantly be rushing off to answer the phone. Douja would often get distracted tending to other customers who came in or even get into long conversations with the other stylist.
The frequent distractions and rushed haircuts/​waxes didn’t always lead to the best results, and the quality deteriorated after the first few times. The last straw for me was when I came to an appointment I had made with Douja, only to find that she wasn’t in and had apparently delegated me to a new stylist I’d never met! No phone call beforehand to let me know and provide me the opportunity to reschedule…
Despite all this, Douja is clearly very talented and seems like a nice person, and I hope that the kinks get worked out so that her salon becomes as good as it could be. I know that running a well oiled machine takes resources, but I think that steps could definitely be taken to create a more professional and customer service orientated salon (consistently, not just for new customers)!

Douja has completely transformed my hair! I just walk in and let her do her thing. I now have 4 friends that barraged me for her phone number, and she is the only person who can touch their hair too.
Douja does impeccable work and will not delegate much, so expect to spend some time there! I just make myself at home, order food, and chat with other clients. Or, bring work and plug away on the laptop or iStuff. It is well worth it!
Plus, with Douja’s quest for perfection she had made so many fabulous cosmetic suggestions, people barely recognize me!
Completely life changing and fabulous!

I came to Sublime for the first time to get a brazilian. The last time I got waxed it was a horrible experience, but Douja was fantastic. She was quick, (relatively) painless, and awesome to talk to. I will definitely be back!

This place is amazing! Douja and Dita are the best. I get my hair cut, coloring, and waxing done there. Douja is a genius at the waxing table and has done amazing things for my head of hair.
I had some white hairs (only 28 yo) and she fixed it right up with a great highlighting combination that made my hair look stunning. She also has done some great styles on my hair and always makes the time go by so fast with her entertaining stories, great music, and warm environment.
One time, I was rushing to an event and happened to stop in (to drop keys off to my friend who was getting her hair done) and I told Douja that I was on my way to an event. She asked if she could spruce up my hair and makeup (I’d done it myself) and I was like «of course!» She fixed everything right up in no time and charged me nothing! I looked amazing.
This salon is the best and these ladies are the best! I definitely recommend stopping in for some self care.

Had an appt. with Dita who was rude and miserable. She said I was ½ hour late for my appt. — although I was right on time; apparently she did not keep accurate track of her appt. schedule and blamed me for her lack of organization and timing. I felt like leaving then and there because I was so upset by the way she treated me but Douja intervened and said she would take care of me.
Douja was very nice and friendly and the only reason I stayed. Unfortunately Douja used a color that was too dark (I just asked to have the gray touched up) and it didn’t look natural at all.
My scalp and the tips of my ears are very burned and blistered from the color application.
I would never go back to this salon and I do not recommend Sublime.

I really started out loving this place but the more I went (at one point every 2 weeks), the more I found the customer service to be inconsistent and lacking. My hair was never the same as the first two times. Douja would rush more and more each time to try to fit other people in and was a bit of a diva. Here’s an account of my last experience:
First, Douja didn’t acknowledge me with a greeting when I came in and sat down (½ an hour early mind you). When she finally did acknowledge me (about ½ an hour later), she told me that she thought I was someone else, and that since my hair would take longer, «it wouldn’t be unfair to her other client’s» if she didn’t take them first. Wait, am I not your client too? Rude.
I waited about another ½ hour before someone else started washing my hair, then when it was time to blow dry, Douja kept on stopping to talk with friends and attend to other people. I could tell by the way she was blow drying that she wasn’t paying attention and taking her time. Midway through, she stopped to take someone else who had an appointment and let another girl finish my hair. Not even a goodbye when I left.
By the time I got back home, it looked like I had my hair done two weeks ago instead of that day, and I still tipped!
I won’t be going back. EVER

I walked-​in to get an eyebrow and lip wax around 4pm
I felt rushed, I was in and out in like five minutes and later on I broke out with red pimple-​like bumps in those areas :(
Definitely questioning the wax and its sanitary conditions in general.
These are not at all good feelings to have. :(about any salon! 23 dollars definitely wasted!
