Description

Specialties

Rising from the ashes of The Upper Crust, The Just Crust serves delicious pizzas, salads, sandwiches, pastas and more with high quality, locally and regionally sourced and sustainably produced ingredients, prepared and served by fairly paid and fairly treated employees. Our socially conscious business practices and authentic recipes have quickly established us as a favorite spot in Harvard Square. For those who care about their food, as well as the people who grow, produce, prepare and serve their food, we hope you’ll visit us often!

We offer gourmet, thin crust specialty pizzas by the whole pie, and a daily selection by the slice. We serve Make Your Own Pizza options, seasonal Pizza Specials by the Pie or Slice, salads and light plates, sandwiches, pastas and a daily soup. Can’t decide? Ask our friendly, knowledgeable staff for their recommendation. We serve local craft beers on tap and in cans and sustainably produced house wines.

Delivery available for orders $ 25+ Mon-Fri from 11:30AM-2:00PM and Tues-Sun Nights from 5:00PM-9:00PM. Sorry, no delivery on Monday nights except for advance-notice Catering Orders.

We cater events large and small; check our website for our catering menu or call us for details. Catering delivery on orders $ 100+ is available 7 days a week, day and night, with advance notice. Additional delivery hours may be possible, especially for locations we can reach by bicycle. Please call to check if we can deliver to you!

History

Established in 2013.

The Just Crust may be a newer name to the Harvard Square scene, but there’s a long history behind this pizzeria on the site of the former Upper Crust. Just look at the change in logos. While The Upper Crust sign depicted the elite image of a butler figure carrying pizza, the new sign now features the emblem of a worker triumphantly holding up the sign for The Just Crust. This graphic, designed by Hernan Matamoros, exemplifies the new atmosphere of the partially worker-owned pizzeria, The Just Crust.

The Just Crust was opened with a mission to treat and compensate its workers fairly, while offering customers a menu designed around fresh, seasonal products farmed and produced by local and regional farmers and artisans using sustainable practices. Local is best!

Meet the Manager

Joaquim F.

Manager

Chef/General Manager Joaquim Filho has been transforming The Just Crust’s menu, one delicious dish at a time. In early 2014, he spent over a month and a half tweaking the recipe for our pizza dough alone, perfecting the thin crust that everyone has come to savor. He is most proud of the comments he has gotten from native Italians, who applaud him on the authenticity of his hand-stretched (and usually hand-tossed) crusts. He is proud to be a part of The Just Crust and feels like he’s come full-circle, from working 80+ hours a week as a subcontracted dishwasher when he first came to the United States to leading a team dedicated to fair treatment and fair wages for its workers.

Chef Joaquim has worked his way up through the restaurant ranks from a dishwasher to line cook, all the way to an Executive Chef under Todd English, before joining TJC’s team.
