Upward Spiral Studio in Cambridge, MA is a small artisanal studio that specializes in giving the required attention to each individual, so that our clients can reach their fullest potential.
At Upward Spiral Studio you will find the best quality instruction in Classical Pilates, Gyrotonic® method, and Gyrokenesis® method in the Cambridge area. We work with everyone from elite athletes to people with special needs injuries. Your instructor will get to know your physical aspirations, help you discover any muscular imbalances, and help you reach your body’s optimal performance.
In Pilates, we offer private sessions as well as duet and trio sessions on the equipment. We recommend that beginners start with private lessons. We also offer group Pilates mat classes and Gyrokenesis® classes. Gyrotonic classes are clearly designed exercises that can be modified for all body types and fitness levels. The equipment is designed to benefit everyone.

Established in 1993.
Upward Spiral Studio is the expansion of the former Pilates@Green Street, originally founded by Martha Mason as the first certified Pilates studio in the State of Massachusetts in 1993. Now relocated and co-founded by Martha Mason, Paula Spina and Bess Whitesel, this bigger and more beautiful new studio offers the highest quality instruction in both Pilates and he Gyrotonic Expansion System®.

The owners of Upward Spiral are Martha Mason, Paula Spina, Bess Whitesel. They take pride in the quality of Upward Spiral Studio’s facility and instructors. Our Pilates instructors are certified through The Pilates Guild, Power Pilates, or Peak. Our Gyrotonic instructors are certified through Gyrotonic Headquarters. We are some of the best in the area, and hope to provide you with the best possible experience here at Upward Spiral Studio.
