NEWS:

Whole Tone Academy would like to welcome Von Bringhurst onto our faculty for Piano and Voice!

Von specializes in giving his piano students a direct connection to music theory through inventive exercises and repertoire. He assists his voice students in creating a healthy vocal framework for emotive and powerful singing.

Von Bringhurst has been teaching since the age of 16. He attended Idaho State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Music with Honors in 2009, as well as the Longy School of Bard College in Cambridge, MA, where he graduated with a M.M. In Vocal Performance in May 2012.

Von worked as Music Director and Cremona Player for the Illustrious Virginia City Players of Virginia City, MT for their 2010 season. He is currently a member of the choir of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Harvard Square, where he sings regularly with the choir of boys and men. He has performed with many groups and recording projects across the area, and finds great enjoyment in performing music and in helping other to find and develop their own musical talents.

Meet the Business Owner

Nora M.

Business Owner

I’m a classically trained soprano and violinist, with a dash of folk guitar and piano. I am simultaneously dedicated to teaching and performing, as these paths continually inspire each other with fresh ideas and passion. Currently, I’m preparing to sing the role of Philonia in «La Zombiata», a new comedic opera about an undead love affair. This brilliant show by NYC’s Jillian Flexner is loosely based on Verdi’s «La Traviata». I recently sang the role of Queen of the Night in Mozart’s «The Magic Flute» with Longwood Opera.

I also perform contemporary jazz/funk vocals & violin with my band, Scubaphone. You can hear us at Scubaphone.org, and often at Aeronaut Brewing Company in Union Sq.

If you live in the Watertown, Cambridge, or other Boston-ish area please send me an email!
