I moved to San Jose from LA where Del Tacos are on every other corner like Mcdonalds are… I can’t believe there is no Del Taco in the area. WHYDIDITCLOSE? Why are there so many Taco Bells here?! Eww. Bring back Del Taco… Please. I am going to have to drive 20 miles to get to one. That is rediculous. I use to eat it like at least once a week. :(

I am so sad to this place has closed. The saddest I have been to see a restaurant go. I wish I was able to be there to say my last respects. Every Monday I was there to grab their dollar fish tacos. Campbell will miss Del Taco. We not only lost a great taco place, but an institution in many of our hearts. I will miss the nacho fries, the big fat steak tacos, but most of all knowing that there was always a place to go when it was 3 in the morning to grab a snack.

Haven’t been here in awhile, but as is often the case, I REALLY miss it now that it’s closed. Best thing was the fries,. Always fresh and crispy. If the Morgan Hill one becomes a reality, I’ll be one of their first customers. Might have to hit Newark now that I’m craving a Macho beef burrito…

Sad to see it closed. I guess an old Del Taco next to a brand new, trendy, mixed use building just won’t cut it. I loved this place for the nachos which was the last meal I had a week before they closed. Goodbye old friend.

A eulogy to why I moved back to San Jose in 2004. Yea, you often had doofuses working there, although the past 18 months were amazing. And you stopped sending coupons in the mail a long time ago. But when I had to pick a place to live that would result in a shorter commute, I selected a duplex on Darryl because I could WALKTODELTACO. And after I moved to Willow Glen in 2007, I would still return to the scene of the crime on an irregular basis. Even though I would have cashiers yell at me incorrectly about what things cost, I would still return to the scene of the crime on an irregular basis. Even though they started putting high fructose corn syrup in their hot sauce, I would still return to the scene of the crime on an irregular basis. The owners BTW are opening a new one in Morgan Hill, so when it’s open, there will be that. In the meantime, it’s New Ark or the Hounds of the Watsonvilles for me.

Closed! nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I curse the universe for this. I write this as I sit in my car in the parking lot. All is dark. I knew something was amiss when I didn’t see the familiar glow of the sign when I approached on Hamilton. I’m now sitting amongst trash, random cement rocks, a barricaded drive-thru, and my own tears mixed with a crumbled spirit. For the next week, I will face this location five times a day and give thanks and praise for being there for me and my guilty pleasure.

I have loved this place for 15+ years. Sadly they closed down on 9-16-2014. No idea why. The next closest locations are either in Watsonville or Newark. I used to go here at least twice a week… I’ gonna starve to death!

Good for what it was over the years of having gone here for burritos and tacos(many times this was the go to after shopping at the long gone Mervyn’s up the road a bit), but unfortunately this location closes for good tomorrow(9÷16÷14) leaving Newark as the only city nearby with a Del Taco. Apparently the adjacent housing complex under construction bought out the remainder of the block for more tacky homes… Oh well, not much can be done now, it was nice well it lasted.

I love their quesadilla and macho nacho and fish tacos and chicken tacos… I love all their food. I can’t say that I am a huge fan of fast food, but this Del Taco is my little guilty indulgence.

Food was good, slow, to get it. We, at e inside abd I think this is oldest Del I have been to. The inside is really shabby. Ceiling tiles are stained and discolored. Center of dining room had a 1980s home type kitchen fixture, rectangle with flowers. Really ugly and out of place. Two country style home ceining fans grace the room. It was awful. I was fine. Daughter was nauseous all afternoon after eating. My taco was really good.

Came here at 2:53am on a Friday night and as soon as we pulled up they turned their lights off. Unilocal hours say they are open until 5:30am.

This is one of the, like maybe three Del Taco’s in NorCal. They’re everywhere down south, it’s really a strange sight. Anyways, I love the chicken soft taco’s, and now that they’re only a dollar each, they only got better. Haha. Drive-thru takes some time though, not the speediest place.

For months, I heard about how this was my BF’s favorite fast-food place. We don’t have it back in Texas, and he was looking forward to being able to eat here again when we moved. After experiencing it myself this past weekend, I have no idea why he loves it so much. To me, it essentially seems to be a Taco Bell with a couple of extra dishes on the menu. He’s been trying to convince me that the quality is a million times better, but based on our order of pork fries, crispy tacos, and a mega burrito, it seems to be pretty standard. The fries were a unique touch, though I’d prefer a steak-fry type cut instead of the crinkle-cut type. Not a big deal though. The crispy tacos and burritos seemed fairly standard to me, though again, BF kept insisting the burrito is WAY better than TB’s. I don’t eat there often, so I’m not sure how it compares on a technical level, but essentially it’s the same place with a few extra dishes. Extra star for being open til 5:30AM on a Saturday– he was craving them after midnight and thought he’d have to wait another ten hours or so.

Cheap, fast and the price is right. Daily specials are excellent. Don’t come for the atmosphere, because it’s a little run down. Only Del Taco in the San Jose area, I wonder why? There are tons of them elsewere.

Not for health food for sure but if you want salt and sugar and good fast food plus eats ala mexicali this is better than taco Bell by far! The deals they offer are super food value and with much of the combos you get all the extras you could hope for. It’s cheap, cool and again if health is not your first concern have em load it up with lots of sauce and extras… wonder why there isn’t more of these to compete with the other FF chains?

Back in my drinking and binge eating days(now it’s just binge eating, hehe), I used to swing by the 24 hour Del Taco that was right down the street from my mom’s house back in SoCal. My favorite things to order at Del Taco were the chicken soft tacos of course, the big fat chicken or steak tacos, their veggie burrito and their delicious vanilla shake. I had a hankering for some greasy fast food after already gorging on tons of other bad ish that’s not on my diet plan so after grocery shopping with the SBBF we drove into the only Del Taco that I know in the area. Right across the street from good olé Gold’s Gym Campbell. :P Here’s what I ordered and my thoughts on em: 1. Big Fat Chicken Taco: Still as delicious as I remembered. Chicken is moist, sauce is heavy, and fat tortilla was pillowy and dense! 2. Spicy Southwest Shrimp Taco: Breaded shrimp was decently spiced, sauce was a bit overwhelming, cabbage was just fine and the tortilla held everything together nicely. 3. Chicken Jack Quesadilla: Not as good as I remember. Kinda gross in fact. The tortilla on this one seemed stale, the cheese was bleh. The only good thing was the huge hunks of chicken they gave me on this guy. 4. Churro: BOMBDOTCOM! Drive-thru service was aiight, kinda slow in my opinion but whatevs. No biggie. I don’t plan on eating greasy fast food anytime soon… well at least not here. ;)

Damn you crispy shrimp burrito with crinkle fries you are now my new weakness. I shake my fist at you being close to my boss’ house so when I am going home at 7PM I am hungry… SIGH… The drive thru has saved my arse about 3 times already this year when I was super starvin marvin.

a mix of mc donalds and taco bell? read: identity crisis. I love to share the #15 which is 2 bean burritos and chili cheese fries– see what i mean? I’ve been super drunk and had to walk through the drive through, shameful and illegal, but they were happy to serve regardless. The drive through is open late for all you weekend alcoholics like me :)
