Our rates are affordable, and our staff is highly experienced, unlike in many corporate grooming shops. Some of our additional services include extended dog walking along the Los Gatos Creek Trail (right in our backyard), one-​on-​one play time (for dogs who need the extra attention), and much more soon to come. History

Established in 2011.

Dr. Dave Reed DVM founded Dr. Dave’s Doggy Daycare, Boarding and grooming in February of 2011. The first year, the business grew tremendously and we established strong relationships with all of our clients. When the business had outgrown our facility, we took it upon ourselves to double the size of our facility to give all the dogs that depend on us some room to run around. At Dr. Dave’s we take pride in the quality of care we provide to our clients, treating their pet as our own for as long as they are at our facility.

Meet the Manager

Dayne M.

Manager

Our General Manager Dayne McGee has been working with dogs his whole life. Dayne started out doing in-​home care for the neighborhood dogs whose owners were out of town and needed someone to watch their dogs. His natural affinity for dogs was reinforced during this time; he learned how to deal with different dog’s breeds, personalities and needs. In 2004 Dayne got his first job as a dog bather and he continued to work as a bather for multiple grooming salons in the San Jose and Campbell areas. He further developed his skills and interest in bathing until he was offered a position at the prestigious Wine Light Kennel. The Wine Light Kennel is owned by Jan and David Bruce who are also owners and operators of «The David Bruce Winery.» It was here, working with over 25 show cocker spaniels, that Dayne learned valuable Kennel operations including proper care, feeding, distributing medication and socialization. Dayne has been working at Dr. Dave’s since May 2011.

Whoever I spoke with that made my appointment gave me the wrong date. Was told that the date that I wanted was not available and made it for the day after. To my surprise when i came in for my appointment that i was told that it was made for the day that i actually wanted (which was missed by now). Im left with having to go to another groomer on short notice. Never coming here again.

I am definitely a fan of Dr. Dave’s! I have taken my Pomeranian, Simba, here for almost a year now and finally found my favorite groomers! I had previously bounced around from one grooming facility to the other — never completely satisfied with the outcome. However, every time I pick up Simba from Dr. Dave’s, I am so in love with his hair cut — like a cute little teddy bear. :) His last two grooms were done by Teena, and she does a FANTASTIC job! She listens to how I want him groomed, and does exactly that. She is also very sweet and patient with Simba, as he tends to get scared/​anxious whenever I leave him. I feel safe leaving him with her.
The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, is because I wish I could speak with the groomer after. Dr. Dave’s does send you home with a report card which is very cute, but I feel like I still have questions once I pick him up (did he bark or cry a lot, was his skin dry or irritated, etc). If I could talk to the groomer for a minute or two after the groom, then Dr. Dave’s would definitely get 5 stars!
I highly recommend Dr. Dave’s, and especially Teena for your little fluff ball doggies.

The kitten is mostly back to normal, but VERY skittish around the cat carrier.
I had wanted to say that the job they did on the female cat on this visit was the best they had ever done — her belly was nicely shaved, and the trim around her nethers («buttocal» fur, flyaway fur on her tail) was very very nice.
All in all, if we weren’t moving anyway, I would not be going back, because they made it clear that the kitten was not welcome, ever again — which I think is ridiculous, when they should have been prepared to handle a 12 lb, 8 month old kitten that had never been bathed before (despite the fact that I didn’t ask for him to be bathed in the first place). I mean, they deal with schizo yappy inbred dogs all the time — why couldn’t they manage a big kitten?
I hope the groomer was OK — I left a nice tip and a dried fruit basket for the injured groomer, but I am leaving this shop with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth about how my cats and I were treated.

I am so disappointed with this place, words can hardly express it! I purchased the Trubates coupon and thought it was a great deal considering the great Unilocal reviews. When I took my baby in, a year old mix, who is a service dog. they looked at him and immediately said that it would be $ 20 dollars more because he was «really matty,» but given that I have arthritis and brushing for me is really difficult, all the other places I have taken him to have either not charged extra or at most $ 10 dollars. After all, all they do is shave it off. Because my little one gets fur-​shock from shaving, I asked them to hand trim him instead– which other places had always agreed to do. But apparently the girl there said that she wouldn’t know how to do it. Upon drop-​off the business has you sign a number of documents one of which states that if something happens to your dog while they’re in their care, that they have the right to rush him to the vet next door and despite the fact that it may very well be their fault that he/​she was injured, you would be fully liable for the cost of care.
After I picked up my baby I noticed that they cut a lot more than I had asked them to. Considering the cold weather I wanted him to be warm. But that’s not where the stars came off either. It wasn’t until we brought him home that I realized he was crying when i tried to pick him up. I realized it had something to do with his under-​arms. Sure enough, I extended his arm and noticed a rather large cut. It must have been really painful because he usually has a very high tolerance for pain. I understand accidents may happen but for the cost they charge, you’d expect experience and compassion would come into play. Most importantly, however, they had the audacity to withhold that information from me when I picked him up.
Do yourself and your furry little one a favor and stay away from Dave’s. Their ridiculous policies and their carelessness are unbelievable!

I have been taking my dog, and sometimes my cat, to Dr Dave’s for 3 years. My dog loves the place. She gets to socialize with other dogs, and it’s obvious that all members of the staff make a point to give the boarders attention. Service is fast and professional. Grooming is equally outstanding.

When we first moved to CAMPBELL we tried a few groomers. Dr. Dave’s is one of the best.
They do a good job with the grooming, and all of the dogs kept for boarding appear to be happy.
Our ShiTzus can be difficult to groom if their hair gets matted. One time they have us a report card on our smallest dog of a C-​. I feel like this was a pretty nice way to say, make sure your dog is nicer, or her hair is cleaner next time.

I have been taking my dog here since he was 14 weeks. The groomers and staff are amazing and I have never been disappointed. They can always get me me in within the week. Although I have never used the boarding I would have no problems leaving my pet here as I am certain he would be taken care of.

I was referred to Dr. Dave’s by a friend. I was happy about the reviews I read so decided to try it out. The staff is super nice and I was able to talk to Teena, the groomer. She did exactly what I wanted and Teddy was super clean and well groomed.
I wasn’t unhappy with our experience and Teddy’s report card was good. I was bummed he had to be there for the full 4 hours, especially since he did so well with the grooming. I also would have liked to have seen the grooming facilities. It made me uncomfortable to not see where he was and I kind of like when the dogs can roam instead of being kenneled. Also the lobby smelled so badly of dog urine I had a hard time being in there. I realized there are a lot of dogs around and daycare too but it was really bad.
Teddy has been very nervous and skittish today as well. He generally isn’t that way after grooming so the environment may not be a good fit for us.

My first experience here was today for my 16 yo collie. We were checked in by friendly and professional staff and greeted by her groomer, Ashley. We discussed her groom and Ashley understood my senior’s elderly needs. My dog looks beautiful and she only had to stay for a little over an hour. When I picked her up, she turned around and wanted to go back again!
We will absolutely be back again to see Ashley!

What a fantastic place! I brought my smooth collie for grooming and nail trim. The staff were super kind and helpful. They did a great job with my dog. Her coat looks sleek, nails are trimmed and even after her bath (which she is never fond of) she wagged her tail and asked for pets from the staff. They also give you a report card to let you know how your let did. We will certainly be back the next time CJ needs a clean up!

Eva did it again. My dog is blind and a nervous ninny and he bit her a few times really good today. She didn’t send him home she gave him brakes and kept going. I can NOT thank Eva Martinez enough! Thank you for taking my pain in the rump dog as he ages and becomes a grumpy old man!

I went to Dr. Dave’s on a referral. I am new to the San Jose area and needed a place to send my dog, Pickle, during the day at the last minute. It’s great that they are open 7 days a week. I was able to get Pickle in for an evaluation on a Sunday so that he could go for a full day on Monday.
When I walked in someone immediately greeted me. I had forgotten his shot records and had to go home and they were flexible about moving his evaluation time back so I could run home and get them. He passed his evaluation with flying colors. Pickle did a full day the following day. Everyone who works there is very friendly and clearly dog lovers. When I picked Pickle up, he seemed very happy and tired!
The only negative about this place is I wish they had offered to show me the facilities and the price is a little high. It’s $ 40 a day for daycare which just seems a little expensive for dogs playing together. Once in a while I will bring him back here but with the price, it won’t be often.

LOVE. Had such a great experience here. We got our wonderful pup groomed by Jolene (who is AMAZING) and we were absolutely blown away by our experience. I encountered Dr. Dave’s through a rescue I volunteer for and I was intrigued because of the time, love and care that their groomers take for each dog. They took the time to understand our dog’s problem areas. She was a rescue and she has a lot of fear issues because she was abused. Jolene took her time with grooming Leila to make sure she was comfortable and happy through the process. Not only was our pup looking very happy when we picked her up but the cut itself was beautifully done. Highly recommend this spot for grooming! So happy we found Jolene.

The staff here is very friendly. It’s owned by Reed animal hospital right next door. In case anything happens to your dog, the vet is there all the time to assist.
The lobby inside is kinda small, older looking and smells like very strong bleach. I don’t think that’s good for dogs to breathe in, but I understand they gotta clean the facility somehow. They should air it out a little because it was even hurting my nose.
Brought my dog in for a first time evaluation. They took him into the back for about an hour while I filled out paper work. They have a convenient window that separates the lobby from the daycare inside. I was able to peek through and see what he was up too. The inside daycare facility is smaller than I’d hope for. A bunch of dogs running around in that area seems overcrowding. They do have an outdoor play area, which is nice. Many places I’ve been too don’t have a secure outdoor area.
I definitely have mixed feelings about this place. Not too sure how likely I’ll leave my dog here.

Good:
Did a great job with my dog’s cut considering he had some tight mattes. The only drawback I would say is that it’s very noisy and scary for dogs, especially if they are new to a grooming environment, but the staff is very nice and makes sure your pup is comfortable.
Bad:
I did mention my first time Unilocal check in, but the girl at the front forgot to give me my discount. Hopefully I can use it on my next visit. Also, the person at the front desk said they would call me 30 mins before my dog was finished, and that never happened. I had to call them myself, to only find out he was ready to be picked up and I had to go through traffic to get him an over 30 min drive. (minus 1 star)

We love the staff here and always bring our puppy
To get his teeth brushed and nails trimmed. He is very uncomfortable with his nails being touched and they always take such good care of him and I can drop in whenever I want and be out of the door in less than 15 minutes. For 20 dollars all together for both services, I think it’s worth every penny.

I love Dr. Dave’s, but more importantly, my dogs love Dr. Dave’s. My dogs get their nails trimmed regularly by Jolene, and I wouldn’t take them to anyone else. Especially since I’ve tried to do it myself at home before and it was a disaster! Lesson learned!
One of my dogs is a huge scaredy pants. He is afraid of his own shadow, so I was a little worried about taking to a groomer. You can tell Jolene is passionate about animals because she knows exactly how to handle him and treat him so he isn’t crippled by fear. I was impressed.
My other dog has also spent time in their day care and he loves it. The staff was very friendly and professional, and allowed me to ask a million questions about what my dog would be doing and how he would be treated while I was gone.
My dogs are my babies and I wouldn’t take them anywhere that didn’t make me feel 100% comfortable with their safety. It makes me feel better to know that they have the animal hospital next door (which is where I take my dogs for their vet appointments).
