Elite Event: #SVRW Pre-Party

For fear of being stuck in traffic, I drove to Campbell directly from work and arrived super early. Abby was very welcoming and invited me to hang out at the bar until the official start time. The bartender, Rick, was very thoughtful and found out if he could offer me one of the YEE drinks, even though the event hadn’t started yet. He checked up on me and the other Unilocalers all night long. What a good man.
Capers treated Unilocalers to a bountiful buffet of tasty treats like salmon, beef short ribs, eggplant Parmesan, linguine, Caprese and spring mix salad, plus cheesecake and crème brûlée. I really enjoyed the beef short ribs, which were so tender, and crème brûlée, which was rich and creamy.
The intimate setting was perfect for catching up and mingling with new people. Awesome #SVRW Pre-​Party Unilocal Elite event! Thanks Abby, Capers and Metro for a fantastically fun foodie festivity!

Capers hosted this Elite event highlighting Silicon Valley Restaurant Week (SVRW). I was vaguely aware of it but not sure when it was or which restaurants were participating. I’m glad that I got to attend. They handed out info cards with the website and dates. SVRW is actually happening as I’m writing this review and we have already gone to one place. Hopefully, I will be able to hit another eatery with the family tomorrow.
Caper’s were great hosts for this YEE! They greeted you and provided you with libations to get you started. The lemon drop was really tasty. Met some fellow Unilocalers and had a good time. The food was presented shortly and they had a very nice spread. Pear and Blue Cheese Salad, Marinated Artichoke, Beef Short Ribs, Pecan Crusted Salmon and Eggplant Parmesan for the main courses which I thought was quite delicious but of course, the Crème Brulee and Strawberry Cheesecake for the topper were my favorite.
There are similar restaurant weeks in San Francisco and Oakland. It’s good to have such event locally to promote businesses in the South Bay. SVRW Pre-​Party was a great way to showcase the delectable food that we can enjoy at the participating restaurants, Thank you!

I’m starting to sound like a parrot, always raving about how Elite parties rock from all aspect of what a social event should entail. This Elite party was no exception! Abby and the Unilocal crew delivered again, thank you! What’s there not to like?!? Great food, tasty drinks and most of all an outlet to meet potentially best friends or at least people with a common desire, amazing cuisine. The host, Capers was a cool place for awesome food and friendly service. Aileen was so awesome, she helped me carry plates to our group table and brought us whatever we needed at any given moment. She was hustling and bustling to make our night memorable. The buffet setup was outstanding, with my favorite being everything. The salmon was super moist, the teriyaki beef ribs were savory and not to sweet, and the breaded eggplant Parmigiana was terrific and I’m not a huge fan of eggplant. For dessert, I had the New York cheese cake, which was perfect for my taste, not overly sweet.
Thanks to Capers with their generous buffet, serving us, and mixing up some mean drinks! Looks like a great place to enjoy some drink and food with a sports game.

I can’t think of a better way to get over the mid-​week humpday other than a Unilocal Elite pre-​party!
It’s a smaller event, and us Elites had reserved tables around the bar area. I decided to try something different than my go-​to ginger whiskys, so I mimicked Abby’s dirty martini since that’s what they’re known for (?), and boy they really do pack a punch!
We got a sneak peek at what Capers had to offer for Silicon Valley Restaurant Week and I had the salad, linguine, salmon and short rib. For dessert, cheesecake and whiskey. The food was tasty, and I really enjoyed the well-​cooked salmon and super tender short rib. I even liked the linguine, which is rare because I don’t really care for it at restaurants!
The waitresses /​servers & bartenders were really attentive and oh-​so-​nice as well. Capers seems like a great place to come by for happy hour, or a catch up dinner with some friends, or making new Unilocal friends! :)

Fabulous company. Exquisite foodage and drinks. Trendy casual atmosphere. What can I say? It was a much-​needed break and what better way to spend your evening than with the South Bay Unilocal Elites?

N.B.: Don’t let the simple exterior and casual interior fool you. Capers is serving up succulent, high quality foods all around.
First and foremost, thank you to Abby, Stephanie, and Capers for organizing and hosting this wonderful event. I am honored to have been graced by such great company and delectable foods.
Secondly, Capers is a solid A restaurant in my book and not just because of tonight’s special event. I cannot think of a single thing to complain about… except that I find their one restroom for each gender quite amusing and inefficient.
This is a promotion for the Silicon Valley Restaurant Week that Capers is participating in. We pretty much had everything on the menu (minus the $ 35 costs ;). Below is a descriptive list of what I tried (credit:

Tomato and Mozzarella Salad: Fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes, pistachios, basil, balsamic vinaigrette
Linguine Santa Maria: Mediterranean flavors, sautéed chicken, prawns, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes hearts, capers, spinach, linguine
Pecan Panko Crusted Salmon: Crusted salmon pan seared, honey Dijon mustard sauce
Teriyaki Beef Short Ribs: Braised boneless tender short ribs

The heroes of the night were definitely the Pecan Panko Crusted Salmon and Teriyaki Beef Short Ribs. My God, they were so savory, juicy, and completely melted on my tongue when I engulfed it like the glutton I am. I have not had this level of high-​quality food in a while and Capers delivered tonight without fail. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and it is incredibly difficult to cook fish without drying it out or underwhelming the flavors. I had two servings of the salmon because it was JUST THAT GOOD. Everyone knows omega-​3 fatty acid is good for your health ;) The short ribs were marinated perfectly as well. The ribs were not overly sweet and smelled delicious. The texture of the beef was soft and chewy enough for me to bite into it without any repercussions of disappointment or unpleasantries (I have braces haha). The Lemon Drop was delicious! My new Unilocal friend, Jennifer W. had about 3 glasses of it since it was so sweet and refreshingly light. I mean I barely tasted the alcohol so kudos! Overall, PERFECT foods and night. I wanted to keep eating the salmon and ribs but at some point, I would have realized I gained 200lbs from overeating. Service was quick and friendly. No qualms there. Loved hanging with Abby and everyone else. A magical night indeed!

Yeah! This was my VERY FIRST Unilocal Elite event! And I had so much fun!!! Of course I was nervous and luckily my friend Els has been an Elite for many years and came with me! But I had nothing to worry about because this event was filled with fun and great and nice people!
I was told this was a great first Unilocal event for me because of the food they were serving! Lol! Capers makes delicious food! The linguine was my favorite! Seriously I say this all the time in my reviews but I really mean it, I’m definitely coming back to Capers to try more of their dishes!
Thanks Els for the support for coming with me! Definitely helps when you’re shy to say this is my first year being Elite when everyone has been Elite for years and knows everyone! Lol!

Every time Unilocal points me to an awesome place I’m forever thankful all over again. Yesterday was no exception.
What a fitting place to start the Silicon Valley restaurant week. Food was amazing. The eggplant parmigiana and the salmon woke up my taste buds. Seasoned well and totally a reason to return to Capers for! I had the pleasure of trying their White chocolate Crème brûlée. Perfect! I also crossed over shamelessly and tried some cheesecake from Adams plate and I am all for this too. It’s not too sweet.
Service was great. But one staff stood out. Her name was Ilene. She was very helpful. Clearing up tables. Offering desserts. Drinks. Whatever we needed.
Clean sports bar nestled in a bustling community of just pure activity. The regulars are very friendly. We might have even converted a fellow named Dave:)
You may read somewhere that finding parking is tough. It is not. Park a few steps away and you will find parking. Walking is always good. Get off your butt!:)
Met a few new Unilocalers. Reunited with old friends and all in all Capers is a great respectable place to get your happy hour on! Tons of TV to watch your favorite team play their favorite sports. I also heard that their cocktails do kick a big butt!

Man, what a good time! Drinks and great food with fellow Unilocal Elites! It’s always fun to hangout with my new Unilocal Friends and make even newer ones as well! Unilocal sure knows how to throw a party and this was no exception. A great kickoff to the Silicon Valley restaurant week hosted by a great restaurant that I can’t wait to come back and visit. Capers has a nice open layout with the bar being the center stage and serves up some mighty tasty food! The service was awesome! We were just guests but Ilene kept coming back making sure we had full drinks and that our table had room for those drinks, thanx Ilene!
A nice spread of buffet style food including (in no particular order) Eggplant Parmesan, Pecan Panko Crusted Salmon (Awesome!), Linguini with Chicken and Veggies, Artichokes with a tasty Chipotle dip, Caprese Salad, Braised Beef Short Ribs, and a light Spring Salad mix with Blue Cheese crumbles. I think thats about it for savory but there was more, Desert! 2 kinds even!!! There was a delicious Cheesecake that I tried with fresh Strawberries and Graham Cracker Crust that was just right, not too sweet. There was also a Vanilla Crème Brulee which I missed out on but I heard it was awesome!

Odd start for a YEE review… but the Eggplant Parm gets the nod.
Another fantastic YEE at what turned out to be a great place! Capers, thank you for hosting such an awesome event! Love how the bar is the center point of your establishment with dining all around. Makes the whole dining experience really cool.
We’ll definitely be back for another visit. Thank you to Unilocal and of course Abby for putting this event together.

My first official Unilocal event after a pretty long hiatus… why oh why did I stay away so long???
[[Not counting the Cinequest event, as it wasn’t thrown by Unilocal]]
First of all, I’ve never been to Capers before — it’s a nice restaurant with a huge bar as the focal point, in addition to an outdoor patio/​seating area. It features wood heavily in its décor and the high ceilings (and skylights) add a bright airiness to the atmosphere.
Upon sitting at the bar, it was obvious that this was a place frequented by regulars (all of whom were very friendly and interested in our group). Apparently, they have a great Happy Hour!
This was a small event (about 20+ Unilocalers) and it allowed us to meet new people and have in-​depth conversations with different groups. We were treated to different beers and vodka cocktails (they make a yummy lemon drop!), as well as spread of different hot dishes. The standouts for me were the salmon (that crispy topping was killer) and the short ribs (tender!). I also heard that the eggplant parmigiana was pretty good! For dessert, we had crème brûlée and cheesecake, both yummy and not overly sweet.
The people who attended were definitely «UFC» peeps. I definitely enjoyed mingling with everyone, and it was amazing how friendly and inclusive everyone was (I was even invited to join a Silicon Valley Restaurant Week restaurant-​hopping group). The service was on-​point, from Rick our bartender to the various waitresses… I believe it was Elaine who asked if I wanted dessert, and brought me a plate with both the cheesecake AND the crème brûlée on it! A representative from SVRW told us a little bit about the event and how participating restaurants would be offering prix-​fixe menus the entire week for a reasonable price.
All in all, a great intimate event that whet my appetite for more YEEs to come. Abby– the hostess with the mostess, thank you and bravo once again!
