Dr. Elham Louis at the Gateway Familly Medical Center is one of the Best Doctors that I have ever experienced. She is my Primary Physician and she definately knows her stuff. She is so possitive, encouraging, SMART, Cool, Fun to be around, and just so knowledgable within her Profession she is a MD and one of the Best I’ve ever had. She is up on all the latest treatments and proceedures and is just a Joy to work with. She is patient and always listens to my concerns and sometimes I can come up with some real, well let me just say Interesting Questions for her. Some un related to what I came to see her about in the first place and she just remains calm, gives you her big Smile and answers my questions so politely and accurate. I always leave there feeling to possitive after being around her nomater how sad, depressed, or in pain I am in when I first came in I end up leaving in a Good Mood and it is because of Dr. Louis. Sometimes I think she is MAGIC or something??? I dont know what it is, but she is a very Special Person and has an effect on me that always makes my have HOPE and makes me feel so Good Inside. She has treated me and referred me out to alot of other specialist because I have a HMO & I have always been very Happy with Her. So I give Dr. Louis Ten Stars * * * * * * * * * * and a BIG SMILE CUZ DR. LOIUS RULES. Thann you DR. Louis for your OUTSTANDING QUALITY SERVICE… I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL YOU GREAT TIME & CARE THAT YOU GIVE ME.

The front desk staff here are the worst. They’re so rude and aren’t knowledgable about anything. They booked an appointment for me to get a shot but when I got in it turned out that they didn’t actually have the shot so I went in for nothing.
The nurses here are very nice, but not great at doing their job. I got my blood drawn and one of the nurses had to poke my arm three different times while moving the needle around. Eventually she managed to get the blood vein by going underneath. The whole experience was traumatic and my arms were bruised for weeks.
The only thing that keeps me going to this place is Dr. Louis. She’s very professional and does a great job at listening to my problems and actually trying to help.

I’m a new patient here. I disagree with the negative reviews here; the staff have been professional, courteous, and have always responded in a timely fashion.
Dr. Louis is very thorough and I never feel like she is rushing me.
Highly recommended.

This used to be a very professional, well run practice. Sadly, this is no longer the case. I waited close to an hour for a scheduled, routine appointment. 10 – 15 minutes is understandable but anything longer than that is totally unacceptable. Now that my needs have been met for today, I’ll begin researching other providers!

Honestly, i am shocked at the negative reviews for this place. Dr. Louis is AMAZING. Great personality, kind, helpful, and overall just made me feel comfortable and like she really cared about me as person and not just a patient. I didn’t have a regular doctor as i’m rarely sick and usually just take some vitamin C and tough it out, but after spending an evening in the ER due to severe abdominal pains, the hospital recommended I find a doctor immediately and start working on some of the issues they discovered. This happened Saturday night/​Sunday morning, Monday morning I called Gateway since they showed that they take my insurance, and I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Louis as a new patient, THE NEXT DAY! Excellent! I wasn’t sure how things would go since I had never met her and some of the reviews on here are pretty negative, but I was absolutely 100% satisfied; truly, above and beyond pleased with Dr. Louis. If you need a new doctor, I definitely recommend her!

I had an appointment at 2:30 and I was seen at 4:00. The wait times here are absolutely horrendous. It has been like this for a long time now. Every time I have come in I have waited at least 45 minutes, and now I am fed up. The staff isn’t helpful. Front desk receptionist Marisol has a serious attitude issue. The main doctor Dr. Louis is only here once a week. That’s convenient. They also added urgent care which makes it way more impacted. Just so you know If you have an appointment that will be pushed back hours because of these walk in patients. They have taken on too much for such a small practice. They can’t even schedule correctly. If you wouldn’t eat at a 3 star restaurant what would make you come to a 3 star doctor’s office. There is no efficiency at this place. If you have time to waste and take off of work or school this place is perfect. Changing my private doctor after this last visit. I’d advise everyone to not waste their time.

If I had the option to put zero stars I would. The staff is worthless and how convenient the office Manager is out until Tuesday. I had an appointment at 2:30 it’s now 3:30 and there is still a person ahead of me. Really !! Obviously they didn’t teach the staff scheduling in medical assistant school. Do not make an appointment here unless you have an entire afternoon to wait to be seen. Don’t waste your time coming here. I’m finding a new doctor today!

I called in and needed to see a doctor ASAP and I was able to get a same day appointment. The waiting rooms and exam rooms are okay, they are not anything new or modern looking but rather your typical old school sterile looking rooms.
The front desk receptionist is friendly, the medical assistant that roomed me was professional. Debbie Brown, the PA was very sweet and really listened to me and my concerns. The appointment was really quick, about 15 minutes, but during that time she really gave me quality attention and care.

Dr. Elham Louis is so nice. That is what brought me back there today to find out if I have a fracture. I have decided that she is now who I will see if I do not have time to see my regular doc up in SF. She is so down to earth, caring, and really makes you feel comfortable. She makes you feel like you are her friend and not just a patient. I would recommend her to anyone. She is amazing.

Today was my first visit Dr. Louis was extremely nice, she listen to all my issues and was very helpful she spend close to an hour with me. The front desk staff was friendly. What’s wrong with some people who complaint that Dr. Louis is carrying her laptop?

«DO NOT GO HERE» Staff is Rude & Has no clue what they are doing & bring in intern nurses to practice their poking needle & learning to use equipment on you as if your a test mouse. Every time I call there is always a new intern taking calls that has no clue as to what todo or whats going on. Felt like they hire random people on the street & ask them to sit in a chair & figure things out on their own.
Thats not even the worst part when the Doctor came to do my check up & find the cause of my problem the Doc went and had to GOOGLE on their smart phone what my diagnostic & treatment is thats to be, when this happens you know your screwed like really really screwed. Like what DOCTOR Do you know does internet searches to find a right treatment.
Also I never understood why the long wait when there is only one more person in lobby. There is no one here at the office why the long wait?
Oh & if you expect a follow up well good luck. This place is the worst of the worst. Don’t believe me try for yourself

Staff is always nice. Same day appointments available. Wait time is minimal. Doctors are caring and competent. Couldn’t ask for anything more!

I’ve been going here for years. Honestly there’s only one doctor here that I absolutely love, her name is Debrorah Brown, but she’s only there like once a week so it’s such an inconvenience. They are so unorganized. They can never diagnose what is wrong me either! I have to keep going back in a few days later, its awful! And they never call me for my test results even if its positive, I had to call myself to find out. Im currently even waiting for them to call me back on some test results I left a message asking for this was yesterday around 2 and they have now been open for almost 2 hours! They have lost my urine samples about twice! Its just a total inconvenience! I already hate going to the doctors, but they honestly make me dread it even more! They’ve over billed me once! And the girl Marisol in the front is so rude and mean. I always go in with a happy deamenor and she always has such a sour attitude. There’s maybe one of the assistance who is actually nice. Its just really horrible here I would not advise anybody to go here. As a matter of fact I’ll probably change doctors and get the heck out of here.

Doctors are all friendly and caring.

This is Dr Melanie Martin’s practice. She has set up her practice with consideration for all patients in mind. You can watch a real movie in the waiting room, or use WiFi. Dr. Martin is not available at the Hamilton & Winchester location – she has a separate practice in South San Jose – have not been down there.
Deborah Brown, Nurse Practitioner, is my favorite because she actually returns phone calls and leaves detailed messages. What a concept in the medical field!
Dr Elham Louis is caring and gentle. She is not a fan of chiropractic, so I don’t see her anymore, but the great thing about her is she took me off a certain drug because the lab reports showed insufficient improvement to warrant it.
By the way, the lady who takes you in to see the doctor, and checks your blood pressure, body temp, and weighs you, she’s great, too. My wife and I can never remember her name, but we both like her.

So far, I’m pretty satisfied with this place. They were able to get me in same day as I was feeling some pain in my abdomen area. Front staff and doctor was very helpful. They even called the next day to check in on me.
I took some blood test and urine test and they were able to call me with the results. Not all clinic’s call with lab results unless it’s bad… but since they were good results, I was happy =)

I really don’t get all these bad reviews. First i will state, this is my first time not having kaiser and having to get my own PCP.
1) wait times are not bad if early enough. My monday appointment was for 4pm. i showed up early around 3:20. i was driving home by 4:01pm.
2) the front desk has been helpful. i originally picked a PCP online, months later tried to make an appointment but no answer and full voice mail. so i walked into Gateway. they helped me switch my PCP to them and its been good ever since.
3) I had an eye injury when i was younger, i wanted to see my old eye doctor. they made the referral process quick and easy.
I can understand that it probably gets busy later in the day, but i usually try to get there no later then 4pm.

Not at all impressed with Dr.Lewis. I have been attending this office for many years, and the turnover with the doctors hasn’t been very impressive. Dr. Lewis sat behind her computer asking me a bunch of questions about what was going on with me. I asked her if she was actually planning on examining me at all, and her response was, «What would you like for me to do?» I said, «You’re the doctor! I want you to examine my circumstances and not come to a diagnosis or treatment because you’re sitting behind a computer.» I should add that I have sat quiet for far too long, and I’ve suffered for it. She has diagnosed me and prescribed treatments that didn’t resolve the issue. In fact they got worse. She has said many times to come back if I’m not better within so many days — I just choose not to go back to her anymore. Dr. Lewis gets 1 star.
She never did examine me.
Now, I will go to this office only on Thursdays when Debbie Brown is there. She isn’t a doctor, but she’s just as good — even better than Dr. Lewis. She can diagnose and treat patients, though I’m not sure of her official title. At this point, I don’t care about her title! She listens, she’s empathetic, and she will actually examine my issues before coming to any decisions. For her, I give 5 stars.
As far as the office and office staff are concerned, it’s clean, it’s professional, and friendly. I have not experienced the rudeness that others have.

OK I saw the bad reviews while in the waiting room but they were all old and the place takes my insurance. How bad could it be? Really bad run don’t walk from this place.
I’m new to the area and need to find a doctor so I gave them a try. The wait wasn’t bad about 20 minutes. Nurse did weight and vitals and put me into little exam room. She told me the doctor would be right with me. I’m not sure if that’s slang for go into this black hole to never be seen again. I was in there for almost an hour when I heard them put a man in the room next door and then I heard the Doctor in his room. This was the last straw. I went into the hall to see if they forgot about me only to be told by the staff «you didn’t have an appointment:. The Doctor stepped in and said she would see me now. I was upset and was trying to explain to the Doctor that I’m not normally a complainer she looked at me and said that if I was in a hurry I needed to be quiet so she could do the exam. In other words she told me to just shut up. The exam lasted a total of 1 minute.
GATEWAY FAMILY MEDICAL CENTER IF DON’T WANT WALK IN PATIENTS THEN DON’T OFFER IT.

I will have to say that I do not have a complaint about Dr. Louis or any of the doctors that I have seen in the past here. However, I do have a major complaint about the wait times. I have been coming here for a couple of years now and I have never not had to wait.
It would be one thing if when you arrived the receptionist told you that they were running an hour late and if you wanted to come back in an hour (maybe run some errands, grab a bite to eat or grab a coffee). But the fact that I had an appoitment at 11:30am, I showed up at 11:15 to be on the safe side. I asked the receptionist how late they were running at noon, and she said that the doctor was with her 11am appt but they couldn’t tell me how late they were running. (real helpful because apparently, I have nothing better to do then sit in their waiting room).
Anyways I didnt get called into the office until 12:20 (almost a complete hour after my scheduled appointment), and then I didnt get to see a doctor until 12:45pm.
Needless to say after dealing with this for a while I am looking for a new office.

We no longer go to this office — but we were patients for quite a while. The waits were always ridiculous — the staff was often unhelpful, and not able to answer questions. We rarely saw the same doctor twice.
While our new doctor is not perfect, they shine in comparison.
