Both the food and the service were subpar. The breakfast bagel was hard and the egg and bacon additions were minimal and not worth the cost. The service was curt and unfriendly. First and last time we will go to this shop.

thank you for never changing. Bagels have been bomb for years, old-school deli look could probably use a facelift but who cares when the bagels are good? This is one of the only places on the west coast that comes close to getting those nice blisters and bubbles on their bagels like they should have, and the flavored spreads are great. To top it off, the other bakery items are pretty good and it’s the only place to get smoked salmon and full toppings without breaking the bank. One star down because even though I get why they don’t have better coffee, it’d be nice.

Rating is for poor service /attitude of 2 young girls behind the counter at 10:30am this morning when our family of 10 arrived. We were greeted with no smile or welcome. When my wife started with her order, a hispanic girl, with blonde highlights, said sternly; «I’m not done with my other customer yet.» When my wife apologized, the girl said nothing back. After finishing with her customer, she then curtly asked what my wife wanted. I placed my order next and received similar service. The other girl behind the counter, said to my son: «Are you going to stand there or make an order?» He made his order quickly. Food was decent, prepared well. We all decided to try another bagel place next time.

I have come back many times after my first review and I can without a doubt say the lady who made my bagels that time is actually very nice and does know what she’s doing. I always get the veggie sandwich on a jalapeño cheese bagel, or if they’re out I get a cheese bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. The prices are cheaper than the other bagel shops around, so that’s a plus.

New favorite on-the-go breakfast place! The gentlemen cashiers was friendly and very helpful when it comes to questions about their menu(so many choices, I had to ask for their opinion). They remember their regulars and know exactly what their usual orders are(not me, but the gentlemen behind me was). The girl cashier unfortunately is not as happy to serve you. She never quite seems to remember my order… I’ve repeatedly gotten the lox bagel with cream cheese. The quality of the food is great and they don’t rush the order even though they’re busy, but trust me, they’re fast! I can’t wait to be back and try other delicious items on their menu. Parking is spacious so no worries there.

The bagels here are the best but I have to consistently wait in line for about 15m. If they know there is always a line, they should hire more staff. The staff is friendly and they work hard, just need another body on the busy days.

We come here a lot, and love the bagels, but today was really disappointing. When I got home with the 2 pesto bagels, toasted with cream cheese, I realized both were burnt. I don’t mean dark brown, I’m talking black! This is really disappointing since the person preparing them obviously knew they were burnt, but couldn’t be bothered to redo them properly. If they had been busy it would almost be understandable, but I was the only customer in there. We may have to find a new bagel joint…

They tried to charge me 3.50 for a 12oz soda… they sell their cream cheese so that’s a plus. I have the hardest time finding a good bagel shop in San jose… He also told me All the bagels were made this morning… It would have been more believable if he’d told me where the day olds were. Anyway it’s okay, Bagel shops are tough. Should have gone to Noah’s across the street duh!

Tried this place out for the first time and I loved it. I’m from the East Coast so bagels are 100% important to me, so being west coast bagels, I give it 5 stars. I got an everything bagel(my go to) with veggie cream cheese, tomato and bacon. Really yummy! I tried the sun-dried tomato cream cheese and that Eason point too. The prices are reasonable. I’ll be going back.

The poor service turned me off completely before biting into my bagel sandwich. I don’t eat out for breakfast during the work week but I was in a happy mood and early so I wanted to feed my tummy after leg day. I Unilocaled and landed here. I was not greeted upon walking in. Mind you, there was a guy that was at the counter so it was clear that the guy saw me walking in w/Gavin but chose to ignore me. I was greeted about 4 minutes after I stood there, looking annoyed. I should have walked out. Prices are higher than Main Street Bagel. The egg was cooked just right but the bagel was dry and had no hint of jalapeño. My breakfast was bland, tasteless, and incredibly dry. I should get a refund. On cash and calories.

I come here once a week and they are great. The bagels are fresh and the spreads are tasty. The service is always fast and concise. Sometimes I get a bagel with a flavored cream cheese and sometimes I get a breakfast sandwich. My favorite is the lox — they have two types. They are always good. The eggs in the breakfast sandwiches are consistently fresh and well-done. I like this place much better than the OTHER one across the street.

Fresh and tasty bagels. We usually stop by to grab some Togo orders but they also have some tables inside and outside for eating in. The service is good and food is great as well. I’m deducting 1 star for the missing menu of bagel sandwiches. They have lox so I assume you could order a lox bagel but I wouldn’t know what I can order or what it costs. That’s really weird or maybe it’s so well hidden that you can’t see it :(

Stopped by after looking for somewhere to get a bagel nearby. I ordered a veggie avocado on a cheese marinara bagel which was really good. Not too much cream cheese but not enough avocado(honestly I could never have enough so that’s not fair cause it was decent amount). I also ordered a coffee and paid only 6.60 for the whole thing which was an awesome deal in my opinion. The service was good and polite except I say waiting for my coffee for a few minutes and noticed he started doing other things so I asked and he had forgotten about it. I should have just asked sooner. But other than that a great place and would definitely be back.

Terrible experience TWICE! A coworker loves this place, so we decided to give it another shot. I was very clear with my breakfast bagel order — since last time they screwed it up. After confirming twice my order, they neglected to put cheddar cheese on both. I came back to bring this to their attention. So they slapped on two cold pieces of cheese, put them in different containers and apologized. Unacceptable customer service by any stretch of the imagination. The worst part is the cold cheese I’m eating on this pathetic sandwich.

I’m a bagel lover so I definitely know the proper cream cheese to bagel ratio. I got an Asiago with lox spread. It was slathered with cream cheese. I’ve never spit food out due to inedible factors. However, there is a first time for everything. The amount of spread was equivalent to the size of a thick hamburger. I had to pull over so I could wipe the excess cheese away so I could eventually eat it. It was disgusting. The problem with this place is that the customer is unable to see what the food preparer is doing back there. Had I saw the 2 inch thick spread of cheese I would have had him take it off. It’s best to think that a little goes a long way. Do not mask the star of the show, which is the bagel. It is not about the spread as much as it is the importance of enhancing the bagel. So please do not drown it in a thick chunk of cream cheese. I like spread, but I go here because of what’s in the name.

I am a huge fan of bagels and this joint is great for the weekend, bagel fix! My typical order: 1. Everything bagel(scooped out, I do this for more of the filling — not to save on carbs) with jalapeño CC, egg, sausage, tomato, red onions. 2. Everything bagel(scooped out, I do this for more of the filling — not to save on carbs) with scallion CC, white fish salad, tomato, red onions. Yes, I order two at a time. It’s an all day bagel fest :) The white fish salad is the ACME brand, I personally love the taste. Bagels are crusted well and the dough is chewy and moist. Not bready at all. When looking for some bagels, this is a winner in this area!

A solid bagel situation. If perchance I am in the mood and at my beaus place, we’ll walk over and grab a bagel. I’m usually a cheese on cheese kind of gal, so I feel no shame getting myself a toasted Jalapeño Cheddar bagel and shmearing it with Jalapeño cream cheese.

The bagels, cream cheeses, & sandwiches are solid, but I’m all about the bagel dogs and white & black cookies here. Tip: the secret to a perfect bite of cookie is getting some black AND some white… boom. #equality

House Of Bagels is definitely my go-to spot for bagels in this neck of the woods. Sometimes you enjoy a place because of one thing that they do right and that is definitely the case when it comes to this place. When it comes to bagels, the be-all and end-all for me is the onion bagel. It’s not just quality of bagel that counts here, you have to have perfectly crunchy and flavorful little onion bits on top of that bagel. I enjoy the onion bagels here so much that if they don’t have any,(which has only happened once) I won’t order anything else. To go with that onion bagel, they have a fine compliment of schmeers. They also do a great sandwich with cream cheese and lox here that I’ve never been disappointed with. Breakfast bagel sandwiches are also pretty good, but I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of the microwaved eggs and would prefer a sausage option. The bagel dogs look tasty, but I’ve never gotten around to trying one. There are also a few other pastries and baked goods that look nice if bagels aren’t your thing. Service is always friendly and swift. Avoid the chain bagel place across the street and come here.

I haven’t reviewed House of Bagels yet, because I’m really trying to like it more than I do. I think their bagels are alright… but as far as breakfast sandwiches go, or any sort of sandwich on the bagel, I’ve experienced much better. I think that the reason so many people in the Bay Area love them is because it’s nostalgic for them. They grew up with HOB and they continue to love it. Me on the other hand… I prefer to go somewhere else. This particular shop is DISGUSTINGLY hot at all times of the day. I seriously would never eat inside, and it’s sometimes unbearable to even wait in line to get your bagel. The guys working here are always nice and courteous, although I usually have to watch them make my chicken salad bagel, because even after telling them what I want on it, they usually make it wrong. Also, how do they not have egg salad at a bagel place!!! Sad!!! And their chicken salad is not the greatest. Large chunks of celery and onion, and little flavor. Overall, their bagels are fine, so if that’s what you’re looking for, they do a good job. Just don’t eat inside(thankfully there are tables outside to eat).
