Montessori Academy of Campbell

Our daughter attended MAC for her PreK and she loved it. The staff is very friendly and caring. We also loved the vegetarian options for lunch (lunch is included). In my daughter’s words, «I loved learning about Geography and continents in my school ».

We just moved our son here in October. Between Thanksgiving, Christmas/​New Year’s (in which they are closed for 2 weeks straight, but you still have to pay for), he went in spurts of 2 – 3 weeks. He came from a VERY different type of school and was expected, with no consistency, that he would pick up «the Montessori way» and just be like the other children. They were completely inflexible with his personality (I feel like I should interject that I, in no way, feel my child is perfect, but he’s 4 people, he’s 4!). The teacher also REFUSED to say «good job» or give any other typical positive reinforcement; if a child asks if the teacher likes his/​her work, the teacher will not say yes, they ask the chlid «do YOU llike it?» Seriously, these are toddlers/​preschoolers. I’ve heard such amazing things about Montessori and really wanted my child to learn a different way than the typical school, but if it comes with the price tag of making my son feel bad about himself, with ZERO positive reinforcement, then, no thank you. I would also like to add that I even went so far as to go to a child psychologist to see if there was something wrong with my son (there isn’t, BTW) and when the psychologist gave me recommendations to give to the teacher about how to help him adjust, they FLAT OUT declined to do any of them, but then expected things to change. Hmmm… Not a great school for kids with outgoing «leader» type personalities.

Our family had a wonderful experience for the two years our child attended this Montessori pre-​school. The administration and teachers are very loving toward the students, as well as being academically sound. The school is extremely clean and offers daily hot lunch from a heathy provider, as well as a top-​notch Thanksgiving celebration, holiday program at the Campbell Community Center, an international festival in the spring, and other events throughout the year.
Our child was there full-​time and was safe, happy, and achieved well beyond grade level both academically and emotionally. We were involved in volunteering and met some wonderful friends among the community of parents. The school was an excellent value for our family. We highly recommend it for working families.

Our daughter started MAC when she was 3yrs old. She started in the Blue class w/​Ms. Corina, she’s was so nice. Ms. Tina took over when Ms. Corina went on maternity leave, she was also great. My daughter continued on to the Red class w/​Ms. Jana and this will be her last year. We’ve met so many wonderful friends and we plan to keep in touch with them, even though everyone will be at different Elementary school next year. My husband and i are very involved and are always happy to help/​volunteer our time whenever it is needed. Ms. Shahnaz and Christina, who manages MAC are both very professional and they listen to you and will work with you. I like their sign-​in system and that lunches is provided. My daughter was full-​time, the hours 7−6pm are great. We are so glad we kept her at MAC even though we moved to San Jose. I will truly miss everyone here. Such a wonderful school.

We can’t even begin to say enough good things about this school. Our daughter attended the Montessori Academy for about 6 months while we lived in the Campbell area, when she was age 2 ½ to 3, and I can honestly say that she was happy to go every morning, and reluctant to leave the school every afternoon. The school directors, Miss Shanaz and Miss Christina, not only have a gift for providing a safe, nurturing, stimulating and fun environment for every student, they also have a gift for interacting with the parents in a way that makes us feel heard, appreciated for the efforts we’re making for our children, and valued as ‘customers’ of the school.
We absolutely recommend this school highly to any family wishing to place their child in a Montessori school.

We had our daughter at MAC from 18 mo’s to 5 years old. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to have our daughter at to learn and grow.
Ms. Shahnaz and Ms. Christina are fantastic with the kids and my daughter loved going to «school» every day. I would highly recommend MAC.

I should have trusted my instincts… It is not the right place for us. We have switched schools.

Two key things about this school — They are true to the Montessori principles of education and their teachers are EXCELLENT.
My child joined this program when she was 19 mo old. It was her first time outside home and like all parents I too was scared and wanted the best place for her. When I toured the facility I liked it because it was small and had a certain warmth to it. My kid is very resistant to change and took a few weeks to adjust to the new environment but all the while her teachers were very kind and patient towards her. In a matter of one month my daughter knew every teacher in the school and just LOVED them. The school’s focus on practical life skills is very good. Toddlers love to be independent and it was nice to see how their drive was channeled in a positive way. I saw my daughter wanting to help me out a lot at home and at 21mo she was wearing her jacket all by herself. They have a digital signin/​out system which is very convenient and now have also started sending online classroom reports of BM/​diaper changes etc. at the end of each day. The teachers in the toddler room also write exactly how much of what the child eats in a day which is useful especially if you have picky eaters. Sadly our commute to and from the school was too long and we decided to put our daughter in a school close to home. Thanks to the directors and teachers of MAC for making my child’s first school experience a very memorable one!

I so happy to enthusiastically recommend this school for pre-​school and kindergarten. This is a special place and a wonderful launching pad for little learners. My son was very well prepared for the competitive Los Gatos school system. The owner, keeps the school in fantastic shape. In the three years we attended I saw new carpets, new windows and doors, new AC, new locks on gates, etc… The teaching staff is exceptional and focused on teaching and learning. You can not find a better place for your children. My son will benefit from attending this school his whole life.

We’ve had our kids in Montessori Academy of Campbell for 5 years. I highly recommend this school for several reasons. First, the staff is AMAZING. The Director, Mrs. Shanaz, has been with the school over 20 years and is exceptional. She’s grounded in the Montessori methods but also has a heart of gold and treats each child as if they were the most special in the world. In addition to the staff, the cirriculum is very strong and both my daughters have learned so much during their time there. My youngest was so shy when she first started and is now super vibrant and so much more social. I also love that the owners invest in keeping the school top notch shape — they’ve recently put in a new playground, an online communication system to parents, a digital sign in mechanism, and other great improvements. The school is clean and a great environment for children to be in. The staff is also very consistent with ensuring children wash their hands as they arrive and leave everyday. Lastly, the owners and staff have so much pride in the school and in showcasing the great work of the kids. Every year there is a holiday performance, international bazaar (where the kids sing in different languages), open house evenings, involvement in Campbell’s Easter parade and other great activities. Next year is my youngest daughter’s last year at this school, and we will miss the staff and the community very much.

My sons didn’t attend this preschool but me and my husband love this school. The teacher to student ratio is low (1 to 6). The class schedule is great, hot lunch is included, the soccer or gym extra program is absolutely fantastic. When we were there for a tour, we observed that the children are well disciplined and worked independently on their «montessori job». The children are also taught not to cross the red line without parents or teacher. We wish we could send our kids there, but they only offer 4 or 5 days program. We would have signed up in a heartbeat if they have the 2 days program that we are looking for. If we were to send my sons for a 4 or 5 days program, we’ll definitely go to see director Shannon.

My son started in Montesorri at age 20 months in the toddler room and left when he was 5 ½ years old. As you can see he was there for a very long time.
This school is really great if you want your child to grow in a loving and respectful environment. Their teaching methods are based on teaching & learning and play so you get the best of both worlds. Each child learns at their own pace so it allows teachers to see how the kids are developing individually and to custom the teaching and learning at whatever pace your child’s at.
I cannot believe how much my son grew in this school both in his social skill and academics.
What I thought was the best part of this school is that they teach the children everyday practical social skills and manners which is the most important stepping stone for their next stages in life. I can say my son is a really good mannered child and learnt so much from Montessori having been there for a good part of his early childhood.
Another part which I thought was wonderful was the fact that they catered their lunches from Mama Mias local Italian restaturant and each lunch was packed full of nutrition. They always made sure the kids ate their salad before having their main meal which is great for the parents because the kids are seeing all their friends eating salad so they end up eating the salad as well. Each lunch was portioned out and there was always meat, protein, vegetables, and fruit so you knew your child was getting a good balanced meal each day.
