History

Established in 2003.

NuLight Solutions is a company whose founders have over 40 years’ experience in the Silicon Valley’s home-​improvement industry.

The originators of the Sun Tunnel tubular skylight, they also developed the solar powered Fan-​Attic. Velux America bought the Sun Tunnel from them in 2002, and NuLight Solutions was formed to distribute and install Velux skylights including the Sun Tunnel.

The Fan-​Attic is manufactured in the United States by NuLight.

Terrible communication. I found NuLight on a skylight company’s vendor list for my area. I contacted them and they were very helpful, but as the *months* dragged on, it was clear they are incredibly disorganized. I had to follow up 5 times to get them to come out and measure my skylights for replacement. I got an estimate finally and had some questions, and they never followed up. Very frustrating.

Very Disappointing & Rude Customer Service by Dave
Steve was the Installer came to our property to provide Quote. No Business Card, NO ID was shown on behalf of Nulight. He was a polite guy. He took the Measurement and advised me someone from office /​showroom will provide the Estimate over the phone. Its been 10 Business days and absolutely NO calls from the showroom.
Today i called Dave from showroom in Campbell, Dave was very Manipulative & Rude.
First, He said he sent an email regards with estimate, I told i have never received one Primarily i have never provided my email ID
Secondly, He is saying, Oh we don’t pressure the Customer by calling and providing the estimate???
Third, He is also suggesting me that if you are NOT happy with Our service, YOU don’t have to do business with us, We have plenty of business as we are there in the market for 10 Years.
Can you believe this answer??? Please Beware !!!

I had originally given a 5 star review for NuLight, but I am changing it to 2 star. I had purchase a 14″ and a 21″ sun tunnel and a 21″ light kit worth over $ 700 about 3 months ago. I used the sun tunnels in my new roof and the are great, but decided not to use the light kit. I called them 3 times last week and asked them if I could return the light kit. I was told they will contact the manufacturer to see if the light kit is not discontinued and get back to me. They never returned my call ! The light kit only costs $ 40 ! Obviously they don’t care. I give them 2 star ONLY because they had the items in stock.

They also gave me the option of installing a solar blind but my uncommon roof configuration made it impossible. Glad they tried anyways and didn’t charge me any extra. Thanks!

We recently purchased two skylights from NuLight. David was very knowledgeable about his product and helped us to pick out the appropriate units. We had only one hiccup to the project. We needed the skylights quickly to complete one phase of our projects and selected a model of skylight that was in stock in their Reno warehouse. When I called to check on shipment status a few days later, I was told that they hadn’t shipped since the flashing was on backorder. It would have been nice to get a call letting me know that this was the case. When I asked David to call me later in the week to confirm that everything shipped, he asked me to call him back instead in case he forgot. I was a little disappointed that after spending $ 6000 on three skylights I didn’t receive a little better customer service.

I can’t get them to take my money.
My roofer recommended them. I called for an estimate, and they scheduled me for 3 weeks later. The estimator was on time, polite, and informative. I had no problems with him. He said I would hear back within «a few days» with an estimate. Two weeks later when I hadn’t heard back I called and was told that my information had been put into the wrong file, and that I would receive an email estimate within a few hours.
Two days later I got the email estimate, with no information about how to send the required deposit. *shrug* They don’t seem to want the business.

We Had a new roof and wanted to get two sun tunnels in our family room at the same time. Jim was great considering we had a lathe and plaster ceiling which was a challenge to say the least. One of the owners came out before the job just to see if they could do a clean job. I understood they could not guarantee that there would be no cracking around hole. It turned out great. It took Jim much longer than a usual install due to the nature of our job and I appreciate his extra effort. We love all the light we now have in our once much darker family room. Thanks Jim & Co.

I have nothing but good things to say about Nulight Solutions. Initially, they installed a sun tunnel with an optional internal light fixture in a very dark bathroom. I was amazed at the amount of sunlight brought in by the new tunnel, but decided that I needed more light at night than the internal fixture provided. After a call to Doug at NuLight, the installer was out the next day to reinstall the original light fixture. The refund for the light option was in the mail within 2 days. Everyone involved was pleasant, efficient and a joy to work with. I wouldn’t hesitate to refer my friends to them (and already have!).

I would use NuLight Solutions again without hesitation. We had three old skylights replaced. One had periodically leaked since it’s installation 16 years ago. It was installed by the company that put on our roof and they apparently didn’t really know how to install Velux skylights properly.
NuLight’s installers were very knowledgeable, worked efficiently and cleaned up everything before leaving. I’m waiting to make sure there are no leaks when it rains before giving the fifth star.

I went on hoping to hire these people for a skylight replacement and they sounded like they could work with my situation and I also asked for a cash discount, which I was told they sometimes do. They took a while to get to me and only e-​mailed a general charges for labor, material and left me a number. No mention of the discount and they wanted $ 440 for two hours labor just to install and said it would take two employees. Well luckily I did my homework as they are not the only ones diamond certified and the skylight only took 45minutes for one contractor to install and they even reduced my bill from 220 to $ 160 and did a wonderful job. THe whole job whould have been twice the price of anyone else. I went with Shelton roofing and the work was superb. It pays to get atleast two estimates as this was a rip off.

VELUX sent me to them. They have the fair price for both the skylights and the sun tunnels. John and Dave are the great guys. The staffs in the office are very friendly and helpful. I ordered the wall unit (extra cost) for the skylight. They asked why — just for that. I know they are honest.

This company seems to be very knowledgeable about their products but they have TERRIBLE FOLLOW UP. I had a meeting at their Campbell location, then they came to my home and told me we would have an estimate within 48 hours. I have called them several times since then to obtain a price to do what we had discussed. It has now been over SIX WEEKS! and still not even an estimate. I’m sorry but that is ridiculous and just plain bad business. Now i have to schedule time with another company and go through the process over again. I called a couple of days ago for the 4th time and they said they’d get right back to me… again. Sorry but it is time to Unilocal ya and let people know what they are dealing with. Pathetic.

These guys provide first rate products and services. When we moved to Campbell, we found ourselves in a house that was very dark due to its ancient design. The condo complex next to us had several Sun Tunnels and Fan-​Attics on their buildings. The folks I spoke with had nothing but good things to say. We called NuLight Solutions; they recommended two Sun Tunnel tubular skylights for our hallway and bedroom and a conventional skylight for our living room. All three products were installed in one day. The next morning I saw a bright light emanating from the hallway in our master bedroom. I thought it was the Second Coming… but it was actually the morning sun filling the room! We’ll be installing one of their solar-​powered Fan-​Attics early this summer. Again, very helpful people, very good service, and very fair prices.
