Definitely the most ridiculous doctor experience I ever had. I made a appointment to have a consultation to repair a rotator cuff injury. I explained my MRI results in vivid detail with the staff and insurance information etc and made the appointment. While in there office filling out the new patient forms the front desk woman told me the doctor was not a shoulder specialist. I don’t know why they just didn’t say that from the beginning. I took time off work to make this appointment just to waist my time. Sounds like they were more worried about getting that money then anything smh

Dr. Onibokun, MD is the best neurosurgeon I have had the privilege of working with. I researched spine clinics thoroughly. Once I found this clinic I went all the way back to when he was at UCLA to check him out and patient reviews.
Latest MRI found C5−6 herniated disc among other things. By the time I had seen him I had already had sensory and motor deficits and could not keep my head up without severe pain.
Lumbar MRI showed L3−4, 4 – 5 herniations with extrusions and pressing on all the above dorsal root ganglions. Last Monday 7÷13÷15 I had minimally invasive anterior cervical discectomy and fusion. I couldn’t believe it I had immediate relief. No joke Wed. I called to ask if I really had surgery. This is the 1^st review I have ever written and now 1 week later still feel great. He is kind, generous and explains what the process is. Wound healing great and I will no longer go to anyone else for spine problems. He is #1 in my book and a great edition to the bay area.

Dr. O is great. A patient and understanding man who takes time to engage in your concerns. He went over my MRI and XRay films explaining where each pain complaint connected to an area of my already fused (c4-​c7) neck. He exlplained what he could do and the percentage of relief I could expect. A very precise surgeon with compassion and realistic solutions. I am six weeks out from my surgery and doing well. I am in physical therapy now and have questions for Dr. O. I called Gabby (The best receptionist!) and she set me up to see him the first part of next week.
Dr. O offered me relief when Stanford Neurosurgeons turned me away. The pain was awful. I think everyone should get a second opinion when looking at a major operation. Whether Dr. O is the first or second opinion, he is certainly the best!

I had severe sciatica and tried everything else, physical therapy, epidurals, spinal decompression. The epidurals helped reduce the pain, the physical therapy and spinal decompression actually made it worse. But nothing worked to cure the problem. Finally got an MRI and a referral to San Jose Neurospine. Dr there walked me through the images in the MRI and showed me what was going on. The diagnosis was a severe herniated disc that was pinching the sciatic nerve. The recommendation was a minimal invasive surgical procedure called a micro-​discectomy. The Dr gave me all the details about what to expect, clear about the risks, and also that he had done 100’s of these with very high success rate and no complications. He gave background material so I could research the procedure, answered all my question, all of which gave me a lot of trust in him and the potential for success of the procedure.
Had the surgery, it was out patient surgery at Good Sam. Went in at noon and went home at 4. Surgery was a success, no complications, I was up and walking the next day. Yes there was pain from the surgery but that diminished with in a few days. Full recovery from the operation took about 4 weeks. The sciatica pain is gone, needed physical therapy to help rebuild strength in my leg after being hurt for so long but final prognosis is excellent.

This is the by far the best care I have had! I am new to California. I was in a terrible car accident 26 years ago. I have had 44 surgeries over the years 6 of which were spine surgeries. I was having trouble with an old cervical spine fusion. I went to a wonderful chiropractor and physical therapist first. The symptoms got worse. I had an MRI and knew that 3 cervical discs were a problem. I was tempted to go back to Atlanta to the wonderful doctor who did the last lumbar surgery who got me in such good condition that I skied 16 times when I moved out here 1 year later! I really wanted to find a doctor here however, because I live here now. I went to Stanford Medical (supposed to be the best) and met with a doctor (I won’t tell you his name) who flew threw the MRI slides on the computer so fast that knew he wasn’t really looking. He ended up telling me that I could get an xray to see if the old hardware was bad or I just sprained it and it would get better on its own. REALLY??? I knew enough from experience that he just didn’t want to be bothered — jerk…
My boyfriend looked on Unilocal and found San Jose Neurospine. I was a little concerned because there were no references yet, and the practice was new. I went to the web site and what I read impressed me because of his work in minimally invasive techniques. I knew I wouldn’t be a candidate for that, but it told me he was conservative. I read some articles about him singing his praises as one of the top neurosurgeon to watch. I made an appointment. It’s kind of scary finding a new surgeon, especially for your cervical spine…
I was very impressed with how much time he spent with me with the most thorough exam I have ever had, followed by a full explanation of the MRI slide by slide with very articulate explanations. He even showed me the measurements of the spinal canal of a healthy canal as opposed to the canal in question. He described why I was having the specific symptoms I was having and what was causing them. He explained that while he is very conservative, this disc was past that type of treatment.
He gave me his opinion of surgery and what he would do. He would use the latest disc replacement technology and when. I specifically asked him about numbers and percentages in general and his results. Even though he recommended surgery, he did NOT push to schedule it that day as most do.
I went home and did some more research and decided to schedule surgery. He personally called me back to ask some specific questions about my past surgeries to be prepared.
I had the surgery yesterday. I was walking around the hospital floor that night and was off IV meds and onto oral meds that night. I immediately did NOT have any of the debilitating symptoms as soon as I was out of surgery and went home at noon today! Of course, I have some surgical pain which is just temporary, but I have to tell you I’m THRILLED!!!
II would be happy to recommend Dr. Onibokun whole heartily!!! The results are quite impressive for such a delicate surgery. He is amazing!
I plan to be skiing in February :)
