Description

Specialties

Bristol Mountain is the premier resort located in the Western Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. The resort sits on a base elevation of 1,000 feet and rises to a 2,200 foot elevation at the mountain summit. Our 1200′ vertical rise allows Bristol Mountain to reign as the highest vertical between the Adirondack/Laurentian Mountains of the east and the Rocky Mountains of the west. There are 138 acres of total skiable terrain. Views from the summit and the 34 slopes and trails are breathtaking and provide a variety of inclines for every skier and snowboarder from beginner to expert with 32% of the slopes being novice, 50% intermediate, and 18% advanced level terrain. During our night operating season, 96% of our trails have lighting. To assure our skiers and snowboarders of the best possible snow conditions, Bristol Mountain is proud of its state-of-the-art snowmaking system which covers 97% of the terrain.

History

Established in 1964.

Bristol Mountain was established in 1964 after the land was bought in South Bristol, New York. 50 of 360 acres (1.5 km2) was cleared, the base lodge built for the December 12 opening. Snowmaking capabilities and a new lift was added in 1965. In 1967, then Senator Robert Kennedy skied at Bristol. In 1968 Bristol Mountain was the world’s largest illuminated ski resort. We continued to make snowmaking improvements and by 1985 they had 100 percent coverage and guaranteed over 100 days of skiing per season. Improvements continue to be a priority and today two of our six lifts are high speed detachable lifts. We took over the ownership of Roseland Waterpark in 2000. Bristol Mountain Aerial Adventures opened at the summit of the mountain in the Spring of 2014 and in June of 2015, we will open Roseland Wake Park, the only cable park for wake boarding and waterskiing will open adjacent to Roseland Waterpark in Canandaigua, NY.
