The Kitchen Pantry Goes Above and Beyond Other Commercial Kitchens To Help You Succeed and Have Fun!

History

Established in 2011.

The mission statement for this business has expanded since the start of this business. But it still has the same sentiment. «To provide an outlet and an educational opportunity for job creation in the rural community of Fremont County to prepare and preserve local produce for year around enjoyment. To help producers including farmers to expand the customer base for their products or commodities and ensure that a greater portion of their revenues derived from the value-added activity goes back to the producer. To encourage local eating and entrepreneurship.» I would now add: «To bring healthy eating awareness to a wide variety of age groups. Teaching teenagers to take care of themselves and providing seniors who are not quite ready for meals on wheels, an opportunity to eat prepared meals that are suitable for their dietary needs and are convenient to obtain.»

Meet the Business Owner

Gloria S.

Business Owner

The motivation for this facility came from sixteen years of running the Cañon City Farmers’ Market and recognizing a need for a commercial place for food preparation. I have been a candidate for political office, in sales and marketing, and an agricultural inspector but most of all I am supportive of the local food movement. I have always enjoyed cooking and have gardened and preserved foods all my life. Of course running a Farmers’ Market kept me interested in local food preserving. I built The Kitchen Pantry to help insure that we continued the tradition of preserving our food and making it available to others.
