Great people with great Texas wines. No it is not Napa Valley. It’s a great place to grab wine or hang out and chat with the owner(s) without having to drive a half hour to by a bottle or two. We’re glad they are here!!! Thank you-all…

If you’re going here thinking you’re going to find a Napa Valley winery, of course you will be disappointed. HOWEVER, if you are visiting Savannah Winery expecting something kitschy, and eclectic you will love, love, LOVE this place. Ms. Jones and her handsome rock star husband cruised into this place on a Sunday morning and spent three hours here having the most delightful time. We tasted a variety of wines with our ever charming and gracious host and finally settled on a bottle we decided to share on the front porch along with what was probably the best cheese tray we’ve had in all of our sojourns(and it was extremely reasonable too – less than $ 12.00 for a large platter). My goodness we had a wonderful time on this perfect Fall day and the owner was very pleasant and fun to interact with and kept things lively during our visit. Are these the best wines on the planet? No silly, what do you think this is – France? For East Texas though, we sampled quite a number that were very pleasant and actually left with a variety of nine bottles in tow to enjoy later. Ms. Jones encourages you to chat it up with the owner and ask him about his artwork – he’s really quite talented. As for the other food? Honestly, we didn’t try it, but we will definitely go back for another cheese platter and some tasty local wines. For what this is, it’s a five star experience – just be realistic in your expectations, and I promise you, you will be more than happy with this little gem. In Canton, Texas, this place is the bomb!

Are you people insane giving this place such low ratings? 1. It’s the only place in town you can buy a bottle of wine to go! The county is dry! 2. The owner is super nice. We arrived at 6pm on Sunday. We didn’t see hours posted so we walked next door to the hotel and the owner called the winery owner. He had just gotten home but can back up just for us. 2 people! Who bought one little bottle of wine. And, he had just gotten out of the hospital for 6 weeks! I haven’t had the food but the back patio is really cute and romantic. I will definitely be back when we are in Canton. Thank you for your warm hospitality!

I agree with Darline L.; both the food and the wine were unimpressive. I like that the winery serves many Texas wines, but I would only visit Savannah again if I were served at the bar, which is rather attractive. The rest of the place looks a touch run down.
