At Serendipity B&B we specialize in hospitality. The Mountain is a little jewel nestled on a hillside in Canton, TX near the one of a kind flea market; 1^st Monday Trade Days. You can shop all day, then come to The Mountain and stay with us for relaxation, food, more shopping and late night entertainment. Our goal is to make you feel like a part of the family in our cozy guest rooms with personal service at your fingertips. Our recently renovated Bed & Bath guest rooms offer a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, high end hotel quality linens and a private patio in each guest room. We are located on a quiet street in the middle of the mountain and provide golf cart pick up and return service to your car at check in and check out. Our goal is that when you leave, you are ready to book your next trip back to Canton!

History

Established in 1991.

The Mountain is an old west town. It is nestled on a wooded hillside two blocks east of downtown Canton, Texas located just one hour East of Dallas on I-​20. Overnight lodging, unique shops and restaurants line the winding streets.

There are Crafts, Arts, Antiques, Flea Market, Food, Native American Indian Arts & Crafts, Music, Street Entertainment, Demonstrating Artists and Craftsmen, Free Admission and Western storefronts are located on a gentle East Texas hillside where the beautiful tree-​shaded Old West atmosphere takes you back in time and history. Lots of antique and crafts shops with new attractions opening each month. Open First Monday Weekends (the weekend prior to the first Monday of each month.

Innkeepers Jerry & Lisa Thornton bought their first 2 room, 2 story B&B on the mountain and completely renovated it in ²⁰¹³⁄₂₀₁₄. Soon after completion of the original house, they purchased the loft next door, and after a total remodel, opened it for guests in May 2014.

I was a retired stay at home mom in small town East Texas experiencing an empty nest when I happened upon «The Mountain» in Canton, TX. I’d been going to 1^st Monday for years, but didn’t know The Mountain existed. One trip up the hill and I was hooked! I loved the family feeling I got there, the excitement of late night shopping, the music, the beautiful lights at night, & I knew immediately that we would be owners very soon! I bought the former «Mama Mia’s B&B» and immediately began a complete renovation with the help of my husband and friends, who hadn’t yet caught the fever I had for the place. I settled on «Serendipity» because it means «finding something unexpected while looking for something else; a fortunate discovery». A perfect description of my little gem of a B&B sitting on a quiet street in this lovely place. We hosted our first guests in December of 2013 and I have loved every moment since. I hope I’m blessed enough to share our B&B with many guests for years to come!
