Where should I start? This place doesn’t deserve any stars, I give it none if I could! This was the scariest place I have ever stayed! I slept for 4 hours, druggies and tweakers learned around all night! You could smell the marijuana while walking outside in the lower level and inside the doors of the second floor. The men/​clientele staying there either were standing in their doorways, right outside their doors, or peaking out the windows while I walked to my room on the lower level, end room. I asked for a non smoking room and when I walked in, it smelled worse than an ash tray! So they were able to give me «the last room available» (yeah, right) which, according to the hotel clerk, had wet carpeted floors «from carpet cleaning” — the carpet was so wet I walked around with my shoes I and left wet shoe impressions on the floor in the bathroom! The room smelled musty, but that was better than smoke. So I went to bed… about 30 minutes later this loud noise started up– sounded like fireworks going off outside my window… I quickly realized it was a hot water furnace for the hotel, so it stayed on most of the night!!!
So between the scary people around (I was so scared that they would break into my room or car, that I kept my phone next to me all night in case of an emergency!) and the horrible room smell and noise, this is the worse hotel experience I’ve had! Warning – DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

This hotel deserves, and fully earned, a NO STAR rating! I have never been more scared or disgusted in my life…
I booked a room at this hotel for that night after my sister-​in-​law and a friend of hers booked a room (in advance) prior to an event we were attending the next morning in the gated community of Canyon Lake (which is conveniently located across the street from this eyesore), so I never questioned the facility thinking they already looked into that, plus, I thought Canyon Lake was upscale so it had to be at least clean.
A local asked us where we were staying (we still haven’t checked in yet) and when we told her she looked frightened. She informed us it wasn’t a good place and to remove all items out of the interior of our cars as break-in’s are common. And to stay together. Great. We still haven’t seen the place because we entered the gated community at another entry point.
We saw it for the first time at night in the dark (around 9 pm) as we pulled into the shopping complex next to it for a bite to eat at Pepe’s, a sit down Mexican restaurant. The first thing I noticed were all the people, particularly men, milling around the restaurants exterior (front and back) smoking. I also took notice that it had a bar attached to it within a few easy steps to the Rodeway Inn. I didn’t see much else until after dinner…
The Rodeway Inn and Suites has primarily exterior entry room doors on two floors. The parking is open and dimly lit over most of it (only the first 4 – 5 car spots near the lobby had much light). Wouldn’t want to highlight this hell-​hole anyway.
I took note of the clientele as they watched us head to the lobby. There were open windows and several open doors on the ground level. A few tweakers loitered around, and the heavy smell of cigarettes and marijuana filled the air. Guys leaned over railings of upper balconies while still others stood outside their rooms or walked the exterior walkway. I was grateful my sisters 6ft 5 in fiancé was with us.
While my sister checked herself in, I looked around. The check-​in desk is encased in glass, including a lockable sliding glass between you and the innkeeper. Reminded me of a banks protection against robbers. Never seen that before in a hotel. Then I look down through the glass onto the ledge and see a business card for the lead investigator for the sheriffs department of Lake Elsinore and Perris, and my heart jumps in my throat. Yeah, never seen that before either!
Our friend and her husband had already checked in ahead of us, so my sister and I went to our rooms (which were no where near each other). Her non smoking room was first… ground level with the row of creepy looking characters we passed. We opened the door and upon first glimpse in fair lighting it looked better than I imagined it would, like it had been remodeled in the past year. It however smelled like an ashtray. After 2 minutes of standing in it, we demanded a room switch, which another customer was willing to do because he wanted to smoke in his room. The second room was still ground level and on the back corner. It had a damp smell and a loud water heater in it. We then went to my room which was around the backside of the hotel and on the second floor up a set of stairs, outside. It was so dark and scary back there. My room looked okay without much light on and I dropped my luggage on one of the two beds and went with my sister to her friends room on the second level (same as me) through glass doors into the interior rooms. The hallway stank, but her room looked clean, and I felt safer inside. The three of us girls had to leave for an hour and upon our return we dropped off my sister in front of her door (we were in a car), and waited for her to go inside and signal that she was okay before driving around the back. There were still a lot of guys out watching and I was nervous. Her friend and I climbed the stairs to my room and she walked to the glass doors. I went in my room and promptly locked my door, and for the first time ever, I dragged the heaviest piece of furniture I could to block the door from opening all the way. Yes, it was that scary people.
Alone, I flipped on EVERY light in the room on, and immediately regretted it. There was body fluid dried on surfaces (picture describes whole room), dingy carpet, hair in the coffee pot, red streaks on mirror, and a stained throw pillow on the bed that leaned against the clean pillows you put your head on, while the backs of them touched the wood headboard. I checked for bedbugs (didn’t see any evidence), checked for hidden cameras and ran scalding water in my shower for 15 minutes to kill what I could. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, but my fear of the place gave me 3.5 hours sleep.
Clearly a hotel for one night stands, hookers and druggies. STAY AWAY!!!

Just for the record this place really doesn’t even deserve one star. It is that bad. We stayed here with friends to go to a surprise party for another friend across the way. Worst mistake ever booking this place. My friend was annoyed because in her room she didn’t have all the amenities that she wanted and that were advertised. The room smelled like smoke and had no ironing board, no blow dryer, etc. and it just didn’t look nice. It looked old and broke down. Then we got up to our room and it was worse! I walked in and was immediately appalled. There was a bucket underneath the air-​conditioning unit in our room where the air-​conditioner had apparently leaked all over the floor. There was a huge wet spot with a metal bucket on top of it. The balcony door was wide open to try to dry up the spot. And they rented the room that way! Are you kidding me?! Outside below our balcony there were refrigerators and air-​conditioning units that of been pulled out of the rooms that were just sitting in the walkway. I think I would’ve rather stayed at the Bates Motel LOL. Oh and their continental breakfast was more like a domestic snack. Orange juice and a prepackaged danish. Yum! They did finally change our rooms but they were only marginally better. When we got to the party a lot of people had booked into this hotel and everybody was talking about how horrible their rooms work. Come to find out the place is allegedly a «working» motel where the local «working girls» go to handle their business. Eewww. Time to take a Pine Sol bath. Never. Again.

This place doesn’t even deserve one star. DISGUSTING! We would have been better off sleeping in our car. You could not understand the male desk clerk. Extremely rude. Took forever to check in. One of our rooms, the toliet was broken & the towels were stained. The second room had God only knows what kind of gunk on the walls. The sliding glass door was about to come off the track. Beware! Do not stay here. Pay extra and go stay at the Holiday Inn Express.

Terrible management, rude, uncooperative, & insulting behavior. I was in the area attending an international event when, 8 days into my stay, I received a phone call demanding my immediate presence at the motel to reconcile a mistake. The manager refused to work with me and threatened to move my belongings if I didn’t leave function I was attending. This interrupted the function, cost me money and significant time from the experience I was there to participate in. I would strongly recommend against this place. One star is too good for them!

If I could leave a zero I would. This place is so disgusting and unsanitary. The photos are so drastically different then the real thing. To check-​in was long for only one person ahead. The hallways and room smelled so gross. The rooms felt so dirty and old. The toilet was plugged already when we walked in. The front desk took over 30 minutes to come up and plunge the toilet. Then she left the dirty plunger on the carpet near the door. The heater kept going off and the A/​C was broken. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything including the party the guests next door were having and at 4:00 am the vomiting. Then the next morning seeing feces on the inside of the shower curtain put me over. I immediately checked us out and informed the front desk clerk and she seemed so uninterested in my concern. That is not only disgusting but so unsanitary. I emailed the manager and I received a standard reply that they service many guests and attempt to service everyone. What!!! I don’t feel it’s such a huge service to NOT have feces on the inside of the shower. I feel so robbed. Unlike another Unilocaler they at least received a refund. Knowing what I do know I would have drove the 2 hours home instead of risking our health and money. Do your health and wallet a favor and do NOT stay here. Sleeping in your vehicle is better.

January 12, 2015 We made the mistake of staying at this DUMPSTER. My wife was going in for surgery and Inland Valley Hospital and I was going to stay for the week.
Upon driving onto the property I knew we were in trouble. You have to take a strange turn through someone’s property like an alley to arrive at DUMP Roadway Inn.
No one was in the office when we arrived at 4:30 pm. We had to wait in our vehicle about 20 minutes before what seemed to be a homeless guy showed up. He was the manager. Since it was late in the day we decided to give it a try.
The room was furnished from Goodwill 1950’s. The TV was hanging at an angle on the wall by some metal and wire. The dead bolt on the door was not working. Water was leaking in the shower and running out on the floor. (This was a handicap room)
About 7:30 we noticed the smell of cigarette smoke. As the smell got stronger we noticed that smoke was seeping through the door that adjoins the two rooms. We called the Manager on the house phone, no answer after about 23 rings. I tried a second time, still no answer. About 15 minutes later the phone rang, it was the manager. I told him that cigarette smoke was coming into our room from the Non Smoking room next door.
The manager said that was impossible because he knew the people next door and they were friends of his and they wouldn’t smoke in the room.
I asked the manager to come to our room and see and smell the smoke.
The manager arrived and walked around the room and said he couldn’t smell anything.
I took him to where we had stuffed a towel under the door and pulled the towel away and light smoke seeped in. The manager said it was dust not smoke.
I asked the manager to check the room next door; the manager said NO, he would not invade their private room.
I pointed to the MISSING smoke alarm on the wall. It was obviously removed to allow smoking. The manager said nothing about the missing smoke alarm.
(I’ll be calling the Lake Elisnore fire department in the morning.
We put a chair against the entry door to our room to lock it and went to bed so we could hurry up and sleep and leave early the next morning.

Was here for one night due to work! Over all It was a pretty good experience it was Quiet and they have cable, also a cantina on the parking lot. To me it was a plus i was able to have dinner and drinks with out having to drive in an area i am not familiar in.
The room has a mini fridge and micro.
The one thing i am not happy about is the bathroom! Well Nooo. It was clean, it was just the shower!
The shower floor was gross! It looked like it could have been cleaned a little harder everything else in the room was pretty spotless!
Oh i almost forgot! The room has a small balcony! Yes! i always appreciate a room with a balcony, no not to smoke but i love getting a breeze on a cool night! For those of you that prefer the A/​C yes the room had one and it worked great!

Love it! The hotel is across the way from restaurant. The AC works well which is a big plus in this hot weather. They offer free wi fi and breakfast in the morning. Its in a a good neighborhood which is also a plus… and its only 51 per night!

I wish there was a no star rating for this place. We got there and when checking in saw a man and a hooker checking in right in front of us. Turns out they were in the room next to us doing some very questionable things. There were stains all over the drapes and as we were trying to put on makeup we noticed questionable blood stains on the mirror? One of us went in to use the bathroom and there was a questionable red (blood?) stain all over the bathroom walls too. As we went to throw away some trash, we noticed some drug needles in the trash can. When we called the front desk and she told us she needed proof of the drug needles (as if we were supposed to pick them up and bring them to her?) before giving us a refund. Of course we left and as we did we saw at least 3 of the creepiest men of all times and cops driving by. All in all we ended up being in the room for a total of 45 minutes before we left for good.
NEVER STAY HERE EVER. Pay the extra money.

Less than 1 star. It’s hotter in the rooms than it is outside. Next time I will Sleep Inn my car.

All the good motels were booked! Next time I get a little weekend time… I will book months in advance if this means I never have to stay here again.
I reserved a non-​smoking room. First thing we noticed as we walked in was the stench. heavy smoking had been done in the room at one time. Called the front desk and she said she would come and spray. Room also came with a mini-​fridge and microwave. The mini fridge stunk and was filthy. There was no microwave to be seen. Called the front desk again and she apologized and said there were no more.
Went to take a shower and all there were in the bathroom was a couple of hand towels. There was a half used roll of TP and one on the toilet tank because the holder was broken off. Called front desk again and she took about 20 minutes to get us towels. Also when I was finally in the shower she brought us a microwave the room next door gave up. Never used it because it looked like a bomb of food went off in it. And I must admit, this was the first time ever taking a shower and feeling dirty while in the shower. YUCK!
The rug was in bad shape and nasty, dirty feeling. The linens looked old and worn and the pillow stained. Not one point did I feel clean while staying there,
The next day we could not check out fast enough.
I would not tell my worst enemy to stay there, you could catch something,.

Terrible!!! We stayed for one night for a work related trip. Got to the hotel exhausted around 1130pm, too dark and tired to even notice how poorly kept up and unclean it was. Around 1230 a drunk girl was banging on our door looking for her boyfriend (he was next door) she proceeded to bang on his door for 15 minutes until my friend called the front desk. An hour later we finally got back to sleep and were woken up again, now by 2 male voices and the drunk girl in a full on domestic dispute. We contacted the front desk 3 times and the owner or manager suggested that WE call the cops! How outrageous! But we did, and they came. Things settled down but the couple continued to fight all night, we never slept, and finally were able to speak to the owner in person who was very unwilling to budge or accommodate us in any way. We had tried to switch rooms, asked that they kick the other people out, anything to help! The only redeeming thing was that we argued and stayed firm until we were able to receive a partial refund. Not recommended!

So there I was. Ready to have a wonderful night with a beautiful woman. Funds are tight, so we crashed out at the Rodeway Inn, aye.
The drive way to the place was one way in… NO WAY OUT! Had to cross a bunch of drunks to get to the place. I have to say, sleeping there with the constant thump of a base from the bar (which was less than 50 feet from my room by the way) could have been soothing, if it were not for the party goers having fun walking by my room. It’s cool. Hope they are having fun, so long as they go away quickly. NOPE… They took the room right next to me. UGGG. It’s Cool. They will settle down quickly. Nope. I got to hear a WONDERFUL conversation about how much they had to drink and how drunk they were. Awesome. It was not like the walls were paper thin or anything right/​No no no… gotta give this place some credit… they were cardboard thin.
The bathroom was nice. They even left the tub full for me when I got in. Wait. Whaaaa? My girl and I hear a drip drip drip. We look. Dripping water into a full tub. NICE. So we decide to watch some TV. We had a whopping 5 – 10 channels to skip through and a TON of static. I like static. It can be soothing. Like in that movie with the little girl that stares at the TV and says «They’re HEEEEERRRREEEE» But My girl did not want to watch static. And the one channel that had anything good on got old so I pulled out my lap top. Decent WIFI. No seriously… not bad. Get worse at Mc Donald’s. Did you know that Mc Donald’s has WIFI? I get my Big Mac and YouTube. Okay… slow YouTube. But I get off topic. Uhhhh… Yeah. Rodeway Inn. I’m Back. The WIFI was okay. Only slight delays.
The Check in was easy. Simply walk up to the security glass and talk to the lady at the window. Wait. Security Glass? Is this the horse Races? Or Vegas? What am I saying… Yeah. Kinda like Vegas. Walk in, drop off almost $ 80, and say, «Well they have good shows…». They were friendly though. She tells me that they have WIFI, a coffee maker and mini fridge. Said nothing about having already drawn me a bath. But perhaps they did not want to appear to say that I needed a bath. Anyway… off topic again. They also told me that I would have a Continental Breakfast. NICE. I love Continental Breakfasts. Rolls, and fruit, some places even have a small waffle iron. NOPE. Not here. Good thing too. I would hate to have burned myself on a waffle iron. That HURTS. Ever get one of these burns on your hand and even though it’s small it stings for days. Hard to even shower, or wash your hands? Anyway… The breakfast was a few gravity feeders of cereal, Tiny pasties, and coffee. when I say Tiny… I am talking like some were the size of a silver dollar. Not a fifty cent coin… a Susan B Anthony dollar. I just turned in my seat to see if that were true. I did not want to lie. They are all gone now. Only two other guys were in this room with me. There are now only two peaces left of some kind of stale looking perhaps cinnamon, uhhhh, what evers.
The bed was AWESOME. Like sleeping on a stone slab! I slept like the dead. Because… the only thing separating the dead from a wooden plank is also a cheap sheet. Straightened my back though. So I guess I should thank them for that.
You know what I love about staying in a place like this? That Musty Motel smell that says «you have arrived, friend. You are obviously not at home or have to deal with the terrible burden of room service or expensive bell hops. You are here. And we are going to make sure that you get your risen brand in the morning, there MAY even be a dollar sized cinnamon roll in the morning for you». I love that smell. Like the quickly shampooed the carpets about two weeks prior to be sure that the hooker stains were gone. Great smell.
I poke a lot of fun at this place. But I have to say, even though what I am saying is true, I never felt unsafe, I never felt that the place was dirty, the staff was okay, and the room was a good size.
Would I stay here again? Sure. it is fairly close to my girl and it was fairly easy to deal with.

A decent hotel for the price. They have a mini-​fridge, microwave, hair drier, coffee maker in each room. I don’t know what all of these one-​star reviewers expect from a $ 50 hotel room. Yes, the heaters are loud and they could be a little cleaner, but they’re far above the impression given on Unilocal.If you expect to be pampered by a hotel, don’t look at places that only charge $ 50. It’s that simple.

If I’d read these reviews before my trip, I’d never have booked The Rodeway in Canyon Lakes. However, I was in the area for a day trip and checked it out on the way home for future reference. We stayed here this week. Four Stars for a basic motel overall, not to be confused with hotels, bed and breakfasts, inns, etc. It’s a Motel people. My rating is a comparison to other motels. Three stars are for the cleanliness, safety, convenience and price, the fourth star is for the staff including the owners.
Downside: Yes, the bedding and pillows are thin and cold. Yes, the heater — which works fabulously and quickly — is noisy!
I’d stay here again without hesitation and in fact, will be staying here approximately every other month even though it’s a few miles from where I need to be. I’ve already recommended it to someone and will continue to do so with some tips such as bring your own pillows like I do no matter where I stay — the pillows here are not made for watching tv or for sitting up in bed reading. Funny thing: toilet paper roll holder was missing the bar/​holder part in the bathroom. Didn’t affect my stay.
Excellent customer service. The staff is very nice, the room was clean, the location itself felt completely safe (a BIG deal for me). Large flat screen tv mounted on the wall so you can watch from the table and chairs or from the bed. LOTS of drawer space! Wooden hangers in the closet. Room could use a little repair/​sprucing up in spots, but it’s clean and only $ 50!
It has a clean, cold mini fridge, a mini microwave and an instant coffee machine (would prefer regular coffee maker). Upstairs in the rear is a simple outdoor seating area with a view of the adjacent golf course — great for my morning coffee & paper; later it will be ice tea and a book on a warm afternoon. Continental breakfast of mini muffins, sweet rolls, cold cereal. The price was comparable lodgings at $ 49.99 with free wifi. ($ 15/​DAY for wi-​fi in Newport Beach hotels!!). :)

Usually I don’t care much about hotels but this has to be one of the worst ones I stayed at.
Freeze to death or go deaf: their blanket is so thin that it is useless and their heater is extremely loud.
They also got the CRT TV from the 1980s that should only belong in a museum.

This has to be one of thee worse hotels I have ever stayed at!!! I did not sleep at all, the staff was not friendly nor were they helpful. I will NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!! I do not care how cheap it is… there were people fighting and making noise all night.

Dirty. Bugs. Smelly. Unwashed sheets.

This hotel is so filthy and nasty! The room smelled like mildew and rotting cheese. There was mold and stains all over the bathtub. The sheets were stained and poor quality. They overprice their rooms. $ 79.99 a night was way too much! Do yourself a favor and go to Temecula where the hotels are nicer. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!
