Kendall & Potter Property Management

We were referred to Kendall & Potter Property Management from our realtor. We decided to rent out our new house and needed a company to find renters for us for about a year. Our dealings with them have been excellent! We worked with both Cindi and Christa and they were wonderful. They found renters quickly and were always great at getting back to us in a timely manner. We had to ask them to do a few extra things for us, as we live out of the area, and they have been so kind, even mailing us a few things we accidentally left in the house before it was rented. We couldn’t be happier with their service and performance and would gladly use them again or refer them to others.

I accidentally came upon this review site and had to put my two cents in too. We have rented a vacation home from this company for over 25 years. Many times twice a year (January and July/​August). We’ve never had a complaint. They have always been informative, professional and helpful. If there was ever a problem with the rental, they were on it right away. If you have specific needs, they will try to find that perfect fit for you. I would recommend this company to everyone.

Each time I have put in a service request for maintenance or any other problem, they respond immediately and are extremely attentive to my needs and problems. After dealing with this property management company for over a year, i’ve finally had a few interactions where their personnel were helpful, professional, and timely. They made the move out process easy, refunded our money in a timely manner, answered phone calls with an upbeat and professional attitude, and generally were responsive. I sense internal changes, and if this is true, they should keep going in the current direction. Thank you for the great service as we transitioned to our new location.

Like many people on here, 1 star is too many. Avoid this place at any cost. I am currently moving out from one of their units and the 9 months I’ve lived here they have been a pain in the you know what to deal with. They take weeks to get any repairs done, ignore emails, ignore calls, and are flat out rude. Julie was still contacting someone who moved out almost a year ago when it came to emails. Very unprofessional. I still haven’t received an email response regarding a pre move out inspection that I want and I am leaving in 6 days. If you could rent from any other place I would recommend doing so. My 5 year old niece could be better help than these high school drop outs. So happy I won’t have to deal with this property management company EVER again.

I own my own house cleaning business and did a handful of cleanings for them. They always seemed to call me last minute at then end of the day needing a cleaning done that night or the next morning. I am booked! But I always made time for them, because in the beginning they were just so nice and I being nice felt bad and wanted to help them. At first the payments were prompt. Then they started falling behind by 2 – 3 weeks. Then the last 2 houses I did for them the didn’t pay. Mind you, if the owner of the properties had a «problem» with my invoices wouldn’t you contact me immediately??? Once invoice was for 4 hours of work from 8pm to midnight. They had me go into a filthy house and just do a couple minor things including hardwood floors. I did the best I could considering it was last minute, late, and the lighting in the house was horrible. Again me being nice I just went and did it to help them out. So I charge $ 150.00 for that cleaning. I did another cleaning in the evening which was a house I cleaned for them a few weeks prior last minute in the evening which they paid me for when I went in the first time. The second time they had made some repairs in the bathroom and had me clean it up and get all the cobwebs that were still left over, which in fact there was one cobweb that I missed when I had originally cleaned it at 9 pm at night. I charged them $ 60.00 for that last minute late night cleaning. Now I don’t feel like it was much for either job considering how last minute it was (same night they called) and how late I worked. I have a family at home and have to provide for them and would love to be cuddled up in bed with my 2.5 year old and husband. Instead I am trying to help these poor people who can’t get organized in their office and make sure things asked of me get done. Anyways, I send them their invoices upon completion, I follow up with emails and statements. 5 Weeks go by and I hear nothing and receive nothing. 6 weeks I finally get a response saying they will not pay me for the $ 150 invoice as the owner says their is a discrepancy in the invoice and that they will pay the $ 60.00 one. Should I have been contacted right away if there was a discrepancy??? Their communication their is absolutely HORRIBLE. They want work done for nothing and last minute but don’t want to pay you for it. Other house cleaners please beware when doing ANY business with this company. Good luck to them! Since I have to give them one star it would go to Brittney there. She has always been very kind and sweet!

As a real estate agent I had to deal with them on a professional basis since they managed a property that was for sale. I found them to be unprofessional and condescending. They did not show up at appointments and where rude. I would never recommend them to any of my clients.

Wish I could give no stars. I have never written a Unilocal review, but I feel compelled to do so due to the rediculously bad service we have received at Kendall and Potter. They don’t communicate, send mixed messages (your landlord wants to renew your lease, actualy they want month-​to-​month), and never return phone calls or emails. The most unprofessional business I have ever dealt with. Avoid at all costs!

Kendall and Potter is an amazing organization with top tier professionalism. They are amazing, especially Karla and Satya. Not only are they exceptional at their jobs, they are drop dead gorgeous, keep it up K & P.

Just wanted to let all the people who list their properties for vacation rentals at kendall and potter property management that the service is terrible and i would reconsider letting these people run your properties. My family wanted to rent a vacation home in santa cruz for thanksgiving we had rented a house and it fell through two weeks before. So i looked around and found over 20 houses managed by kendall and potter that were still available. I called the company four times and three emails and finally got a call back 2 days later from a women who was irritated that i was bugging her saying she had received my calls and emails and was too busy to get back to me. Furthermore she said that there was no way she would rent for two days and woud rather let all 60 properties sit vacant. If I were renting my vacation home and someone wanted to give me 800 for two days (a week before) i might consider? Just wanted to let you know who was running your properties and the money you are missing out on and that i will never rent a vacation home from this property management they were rude and annoyed that I was even calling. I have lived in santa cruz county for over twenty years my husband owns a cabinet business and we will be letting everyone in the community know how terrible this property management is. Thank you

If I could give them negative stars I would. Since Rita Law and Christa Taylor took over ownership and management of this business they have lost all moral standards.
NEVER use them as your property management company. They rent to their families at a discount (in comparison to what market rate is for a house) and then the landlord has to keep «fixing» things on very new houses.
They do not disclose conflicts of interest, and are the snakest property management company in this town.
NEVER USE THEM.

When everyone else would turn us down for being too young (24 – 27), these folks gave us a chance. We rented from them for 4 yrs and the only reason we moved was because I got married and we no longer wanted to live with roommates.
We had such a great experience renting from these guys. Very prompt at fixing what was needed, always so helpful & nice to us. I understand everyone has their own experience and, sadly, only people with the bad ones take the time to give these folks a review. Im sure there’s way more of us out there with better things to say. I never dealt with one person in that office who didnt speak to me in a respectful and professional manner.
Ive recommended them to my family and friends who still rent from them to this day and they, also, have had a great experience. Will continue to recommend!

Beware. If you are a prospective tenant, think twice about renting an apartment from these folks. Kendall and Potter will make your life miserable. Kendall and Potter is extraordinarily unresponsive to tenants. I moved into an apartment that they had under management, it took them weeks to fix a lock on my door. When they provided the apartment to me it was not clean. The assumption with Kendall and Potter is it is always the tenants fault. I know the rental market is tough in Santa Cruz, but do yourself a big favor and rent someplace else. This company is horrendous.

During our once-​yearly trip to Santa Cruz for a conference, we rent a beach condo with friends through these folks. Our rental is at The Shore Line at La Selva Beach, about 10 miles out of town. We’ve piggy backed onto an existing gig with friends, but the spot is just fine, and pretty reasonable. We rent number 725 (the Dolphin condo). It has a loft with two twin beds, a room on the main level with a double bed (no windows), and two rooms down (one with a king, one with a double) with full beach views. Two full baths, a bbq, and a reasonably well-​appointed kitchen. The beach is amazing, and it’s very fun. Works well with a crowd, and the two full baths are key!
