Description

Specialties

The Coffee Shack is a local restaurant with a fantastic view of the Kona coast, overlooking Kealakekua Bay. Open for breakfast and lunch, we serve homemade bread and pastries. We proudly grow and serve 100% Kona coffee, along with 100% Aloha!

History

Established in 1985.

The original Coffee Shack building was built in the 1930’s for housing for coffee pickers, and at one time was used as a gathering place for a Buddhist mission. Up until the mid’80’s the Coffee Shack was primarily used to process and roast Kona coffee for local farmers. The Lanai was added on in 1985, and the Coffee Shack transitioned into a restaurant, and a gift shop for tourists on their way to the Volcano National Park. Since then, The Coffee Shack has become an internationally recognized favorite spot for many tourists and locals, with a full breakfast, lunch and dessert menu.

Business Owner

We have owned and operated The Coffee Shack since moving to the Big Island in 2000, after 30 years of living at Lake Tahoe. We enjoy helping people have a good time here in Hawaii.
