Staff weren’t the most knowledgeable about different types of hydration vests. I walked around for about 20 minutes waiting to find out if they sold the vests. The clothes were limited to things I could’ve purchased at a place like Dick’s Sporting Goods. Mostly brands like Brooks, which is fine however I would like to find things I can NOT find at the big box stores at a smaller speciality shop.

I love this store! Josh and the gang are so helpful and friendly. If you are an athlete or not, stop in and check everything out. My go to place for sneakers, Keens, and, apparel. I like how they take time to assess a customers gate, for proper fit. Thanks ARC !!

We had Unilocaled for shoe repair while in town for a funeral. The one place downtown was not open(even though hours showed they should be). Went to Appalachian Running Co to buy a new pair of shoes for casual wear. Not only found a great pair, but they repaired the aforementioned pair for free. What nice people! It was a pleasure to do business here.

Expert advice and service. Can’t say enough good things about the service and selection. Some of the top competitors in the area work there and you wouldn’t know it. They do a lot for the community too. I am a costumer for life.

Another perfect experience today at ARC. Rocking my new Pearl shoes today. Thanks for being so consistently good! I’ve got my eye on their increasing bike selection too. Josh and his team are great for all your running AND biking needs.

I’ve been running for a few years and my first pair of shoes came from a cheap-o discount store like Payless or something. I scored a great deal on them but they also hurt my feet. When I started getting more serious, I paid a visit to a running store here in Tampa. They recommended a shoe for me and I went with it for a while. On one of my trips to Pennsylvania I heard about the Appalachian Running Company which was owned by a guy I played soccer with in high school. I decided to stop by and pay a visit. Their store was much smaller than the one in Tampa, but it was also a lot less busy. The owner, my soccer teammate who has won oodles of awards at Ironman races across the country, watched me run. He said my run was«ugly». He called his partner out to watch. We all shared a laugh at my expense. He suggested I try a different pair of shoes(same price as the ones I purchased in Tampa). He watched me run again and said that those shoes made my stride and step look a hundred times better. Because he had taken the time to watch me run, because of the accolades and prior relationship, I went with them. I haven’t looked back. This Christmas I came in and bought my fourth and fifth pairs of running shoes from the store. Since that time I’ve had a couple other people watch me run just to make sure those brand of shoes are still the right fit and they all agree that that original assessment was spot on. The personalized attention, the willingness to take a few moments and watch you run to make sure you get the right kind of shoe, the fact that a number of the employees are runners who have won big races, that’s what makes this place a five star business. You need running shoes/gear/advice and live in the Harrisburg/Carlisle area? Don’t hesitate to stop by.

Great staff that is engaged, attentive, and well-trained in the art and idiosyncrasies of running. they really work with you to find a proper shoe for your feet/running style. If your looking for a bargain this place ain’t it, you will pay market price for your gear. However, if you are serious about running, then you know the value in a good, physical, run-centric store. Only downside is sometimes they don’t have your size in stock and it has to be ordered which, since they put orders in on Mondays can take a while(usually 4 — 5 days after ordering)

I was driving to Philadelphia for a business trip and realized part way there that I had forgotten my running shoes. I jumped on Unilocal and found Appalachian Running Company. I called them only to find that they were about to close. When I asked where else I could go, they offered to stay open for me! Found a great pair of shoes and got my running in for my trip! Super nice folks!

Excellent place to buy running sneakers. About two years ago, my wife bought a pair of sneakers, and I went back and bought my own pair about a month or two later because the service was so fantastic.

My husband and I both needed to replace our running shoes. The staff here are friendly, and knowledgable. They know about shoes and foot shape, size, and movement of feet, ankles, and legs. I have never had a shoe fit so well. One-on-one service. I didn’t feel that I was being pushed to purchase a more expensive shoe, and actually-the one that we went with ended up being on sale!

May 19, 2012 had me travel 100 miles to this area to do some hands on research on refueling products; Appalachian Running Company served my every need and more. That morning it was staffed by a young man who was personable and very knowledgeable. He showed me the products that I was interested in, was receptive to why I was avoiding products with honey and pointed out his favorites among the products I was interested in. He showed a personal interest but also gave me time and space to make decisions. I even spent some extra time browsing the entire small shop. It wasn’t because I was looking for anything else, I just felt comfortable enough to see if I was overlooking anything they might have of interest. Because of the right amount of helpful information and personal attention, I made a few significant purchases at Appalachian Running Company as opposed to just shopping on line. This is what great customer service can do for a local store.
