Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community

I honestly cannot say enough positives about Cumberland Crossings. The management and staff are all so helpful, caring and considerate of all family needs surrounding the caring for your elderly parent (s). Mine spent time in the personal care unit prior to transitioning to an independent cottage. The director, Dave Manton and his staff made all of the transitions seamless and easy. It is such an emotional process when parents give up their home to move into more long-​term retirement care. The help we have received cannot be calculated in mere dollars, as it has been invaluable. We too compared other care facilities and none measured up to CC standards and quality of community. It is truly a gem of a place located in the lovely town of Carlisle, PA.

Families are often at a loss when faced with the sudden need for Skilled Care for a loved one. This happened to my family when my mom needed Skilled Care after a hospital stay, and was unable to return to her former home in Assisted Living. We reviewed ratings on PA DPW website and then made followup visits to several Harrisburg area facilities. Cumberland Crossings stood head and shoulders above all, impressing us with the staff’s personal interest and customer service, facility cleanliness (and clean-​smelling), interaction with residents, planned activities, enticing food aromas from the dining room which was set with tablecloths and napkins. The care was outstanding. Regular family care meetings with personal reports from PT, OT, Nursing, dietician, chaplain, social services, and administrator. No requests or status updates were left unaddressed or not accommodated. We visited frequently and appreciatively watched the gentle and dignified care that the nurses and assistants provided. As my mother’s life was ending, the staff and chaplain redoubled their efforts to comfort and support us with visits, food carts and so forth. My mother was blessed with a peaceful passing in a caring, compassionate environment with family at her side. For families in similar circumstances, or those searching for a warm, caring, wholesome environment in any level of retirment living, we highly recommend Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community.
