Ace Hauling Junk Removal & Demolition

Ace responded quickly to an email for more information. I provided photos of a spa I needed removed from the property. Ace quoted a good price. I compared to a few other companies. When I booked the service over the phone, they were able to come out sooner than I was ready! That was a nice change. We agreed on a date. They were prompt, and called 15 minutes before they arrived. They quickly removed the spa, loaded the truck, and were done is less than an hour. They even swept and cleaned up the area around the spa! Very courteous, professional, no weird vibes. I will use them again when I start to clean out the garage.

wow… give them a call based on thier website advertised quick response, just needed a small truckload of yard/​garage waste removed… I was told 3 weeks at a minimum! Lol… I’m ok with waiting a few days or a week, but that’s ridiculous! The girl answering the phone was loud and seemed very much in a hurry to get off the phone. Try elsewhere…

The current 2 star rating seems appropriate and fair because they don’t make it past the bid stage.
I can’t attest to the quality of their hauling services because I can certainly testify to their incompetence at quoting for a job. Therefore, I can understand all the other customers who got a quote and ended up having to pay more without a heads up.
The Job was to haul out a pile of broken cinder blocks and cement debris, and a small stack of wood.
They did not come to take a look at the job to quote, instead they asked for photos by email. Fair enough, except that then they miss-​assessed the job and quoted 4 times higher than any other hauling service company that made a bid for the same job.
All bids came between $ 500 – 650. Ace hauling came at $ 2000. You be the judge.
I know for a fact (for having it done before myself –now I’m too tired) that:
Dumping fees (demolition debris) would have been $ 160 for 2 tons.
The use of a flatbed truck would be $ 200.
Labor for 2 men who ended up doing the job in 3 hours: that’s 6 man hours.
It would break down Ace Hauling labor to $ 275/​hour! An MD. doesn’t earn that much. Even if I’d be missing on some fees here, in no way can this abusive quote ever be acceptable.
They ignored my followup email asking them if they would revise their quote since the photos might have led them to think it’s a bigger job than what it really was. Being ignored doesn’t scream for a good service… And so, this is why I’m writing up this review and they are getting yet another bad rating.
Their website promise to beat your best bid is false.

Make sure they confirm the quote when they arrive to the site. Over the phone they told me it would be 120 $. It was according to the description I gave them, distance from loading area, size, etc. When they came to the site they said they couldn’t tell me the price until they see all the junk loaded on the trcuk. I didn’t think much of it, but when they gave me the bill of 535 $, I knew it was a big scam.
They finished in 45mins, nothing heavy to carry, unless you consider 2 mattresses and small TV heavy.
I would not recommend these guys to anyone…
PS I don’t write reviews unless I have something nice to say, this is the first time I gave someone a 1 star review, and it is simply because I don’t want to see more people getting ripped off.

They came out last Tuesday to remove a bed, a desk, and a cabinet. I described the items over the phone to the dispatcher named Sue who quoted me a price of $ 130 that morning. I had gotten a lower estimate over the phone from another company but I just got a weird vibe from him so I went with Sue/​Ace. She said they’d be here between 5 and 6pm and that they’d call when they were en route. They didn’t call but I was home and expecting them so no biggie. They were 3 men and a big flatbed truck. The guy in charge looks at the pile of junk and says it’ll be $ 30 more because this wouldn’t fit in pickup truck. I told him that’s not what I was quoted and he has a huge flatbed anyway. I told him, «Forget it. I’ll call someone else.» Then he said to hold on while he checked to see if it was okay. He made a call and then said she said it was okay. So they started moving the stuff which took all of 2 minutes if that. I was going to pay them with my credit but I thought, «Hell, no. These guys are shady.» So I thought about paying them cash but then I thought, «Hell, no. These guys are shady.» So I paid them with a check.
I don’t feel good about badmouthing this company but everything I’m saying is true. Sue, you can call me if you want to. You’ve got my number.

I have been impressed by Ace Hauling. Their prices are the most reasonable and the customer service is outstanding. The guys who came to take the stuff away were clean-​cut and polite. I didn’t feel odd having them walk repeatedly across my home.
Finally got rid of the junk my family had accumulated over the past 4 years. Convenient and still there’s comfort in knowing that they do the right thing. It’s hard work, give ‘em a tip.
