I grew up in a suburb of Newark, New Jersey. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the UC Berkeley. I attended graduate school in psychology at the U of Oklahoma where I trained to be a psychologist and therapist. I received my Ph.D. in counseling psychology in 1976. I wrote my doctoral dissertation on family therapy through Stanford. Until 1989, I worked as a clinical psychologist and family therapist in Colorado, WY and Southern Cal. I was licensed in CA as a Mariage, Child and Family Therapist from 1977 through 1989.
I changed careers in 1989. Please call me and I will be glad to discuss the reasons for my decision and other aspects of my background and practice. After law school in Los Angeles, Claudia Bravo Silveman and I started our practice in her home town of San Francisco where we practice family law. My back ground in psychology assists me in helping our clients during difficult times and settling or effectively litigating their cases.
