Annely Allen Doula

We hired Annely for our second child because I had a difficult time delivery my first. I really wanted to have a VBAC and decided that Annely was the person we wanted to help us out. She was wonderful from the beginning (first meeting her) until the very end. Always there for us whenever we needed her and she was great during the delivery. She had great methods during the pushing stage which really helped and things my husband and I would not have known to do on our own (even after taking the Bradly Method Class). I would not hesitate recommending her as your doula. She is professional, sweet, and is very knowledgable. Thank you so much Annely for being a part of our birth!

Annely was a major part of the birth of both of our children. Annely (and Jenna) instantly put my wife at ease. You’ll find she is very knowledgeable, experienced, caring, non-​judgemental, has a very calming demeanor and is committed to doing whatever needs to be done to help you have the type of birth you are looking for.
For dad’s, Annely is very supportive and helps you do things to best support your wife throughout pregnancy and labor while never overstepping.
With our first child, my wife had a very long and difficult labor seemingly because my wife’s doctor insisted on induction. Well the little guy was not ready to come out, and labor lasted over 36 hours. The whole chain of events had a c-​section written all over it. If it wasn’t for Annely my wife would have had to have a c-​section with our first child. Because of the doctor, the days leading up to due date and labor made for a a difficult experience but Annely was an incredible support and ultimately responsible for helping my wife deliver naturally.
The experience with our second child was completely different! Thanks again to Annely and a different doctor, Dr. Cobb. Annely helped my wife labor at home. She was with us as soon as we needed her. She helped us coordinate everything with the hospital. We arrived at the hospital and baby girl was born 3 hours later!
Annely is the best. We couldn’t be more grateful for what she did for us with both birth experiences.

I have nothing but great things to say about Jenna and Annely both. Annely was originally our backup, but she ended up meeting me on the day I delivered, as Jenna was initially with another client. We had met with both Jenna and Annely in advance and liked them each very much (I would highly recommend doing this — you never know what might happen on game day!) so I felt totally comfortable with Annely. Funnily enough though, Jenna finished with her client and arrived at UCSD just as I was starting to push, so I was lucky to have both of them there for the birth itself!
They are each incredibly calm and comforting to be in the presence of, and are truly warm, caring people — exactly what I imagined doulas to be. I liked the fact that Jenna is close to me in age and had recently been through childbirth herself, and I also liked that Annely felt like a mother figure to me, who had years of experience under her belt. One of the many reasons we picked them as a pair was that they are both very «middle of the road» and balanced about things, and I could tell they were also very non-​judgmental. They truly wanted my husband and I to be comfortable and feel good about our choices, but at no point did they weigh in on what they thought those choices should be.
I can’t recommend them highly enough. While most of you won’t be so lucky to have both of them at the actual birth, you would be blessed to have either one of them there. They are gifts to the birthing process and I’m grateful our daughter was brought into the world with both of these women by my side.

If you are looking for an amazing, experienced, deeply caring doula… Annely is your girl.
After a traumatic first delivery, my husband and I decided to hire a doula for the birth of our second son to make me feel more confident. I was also trying for a VBAC so an experienced doula was key. I had friends that had interviewed many doulas before choosing one, but our first interview was with Annely and there was no question about needing another.
I honestly don’t think I would have gotten to have the VBAC I wanted if it hadn’t been for Annely. She was there every step of the way through an incredibly difficult (days-​long!!) labour, and she consistently went the extra mile through it all. Her reassurance and dedication gave me the courage to push through and when the baby wouldn’t drop into my pelvis and labor was stalling she helped us try everything we could to get things going again using every resource she had. My husband and mom were blown away by how much she cared and the positive spirit she brought to a difficult situation. Thanks to her and my incredible doctor (Dr Cobb) I was able to deliver my 10 lb 2 oz baby boy vaginally after I had been told by another doctor that I never would.

Annely was an absolute Godsend during my second birth. She handled a very stressful situation with calm and grace. I never thought I would say this, but I don’t know how I would have gotten through it without her. She made all the difference to me to make my birth experience as positive as it could be. Her partner, Jenna Anderson, is also awesome and stayed with me for recovery. Thank you to both ladies again! I highly recommend a doula, and you cannot do better than Annely or Jenna.

Annely is a wonderful person inside and out and I love working with her. She is a caring, attentive doula with a passion for breastfeeding. She brings love, laughter, and joy to the birth space. I have photographed her in action (as the birth photographer) and know first hand she delivers excellent service. You will not be disappointed in hiring this passionate doula and lactation educator. She gives 100% and shines. I send a lot of referrals her way and trust they are in good hands.

When talking about how great Annely is, I don’t even know where to begin. My wife and newborn were both in very good hands with Annely at our side. She kept in constant contact with us during the pregnancy and when the due date neared she was always easily available for our questions or concerns. My wife recently endured a 60 hour labor and Annely was with us for almost all of it. She came to our house with her bag of tricks and instantly put all of us at ease with her calm demeanor and knowledgeable advice. If it wasn’t for Annely, I would have called in a Lifeline helicopter when my wife was nauseated in the early stages of her pregnancy. She also handled all the logistics with the hospital in securing a large room with a birthing tub and the best nurses available for my wife throughout our hospital stay. She kept in close contact with the nurses and doctors on the labor progress and hospital logistics and allowed me to focus on taking care of my wife. She also greatly respected our birth plan and went above and beyond to help us achieve our goals. It was hard for me to ever leave my wife’s side during the long labor, but Annely made sure I was taking care of myself and getting enough water, food and rest. She also is a phenomenal photographer and captured many amazing photos of the labor and when the little guy arrived. I cannot thank Annely enough and would highly highly recommend her.

Annely is the best doula in San Diego county and I am the father of a 2 year old and a new born. She supported my wife and me during both births. Being a second time father, my wife and I requested Annely’s services for a second time pretty much the second a urine test confirmed our pregnancy. She really helped the entire team to work together, from the doctors to nurses to my wife and I. As a father is usually concerned about Doula taking over, I can tell you that Annely only betters the experience. You will not have second thoughts about requesting the services of Annely. Hands down the best Doula in San Diego! Granted I haven’t met them all, but I interviewed 5 or 6 while I was pregnant with our first baby.
I felt right at home with Annely immediately. She was extremely knowledgeable, caring and really took the time to get to know me and my husband during my pregnancy. She recommended the OB, Dr. Cobb, that we hired to deliver our baby, who turned out to be equally amazing.
I had the most beautiful birthing experience I could have imagined and Annely was such a huge part of that. She was strong and supportive, yet loving and nurturing throughout the whole process. She knew exactly when it was time to go to the hospital as she was with me for over two hours while I labored at home. I had progressed to an 8 by the time I arrived at the hospital which was such a relief. She knew all the right things to do at the perfect time and exactly what I needed whether it was a massage, aromatherapy, drinking water or getting into the tub.
I am currently pregnant with our second baby and texted Annely almost immediately after I found out to be sure to reserve her, as I know she is in high demand! Also, several of my close friends hired Annely as their Doula and were beyond happy their experience. She is a beautiful person inside and out, a true blessing and someone I will always have by my side during the birth of my children.

Annely was an amazing support for both me and my husband at the birth of my first son — which was quite long and rather «laborious». She really helped keep us both positive throughout the process. She will be with us again for the upcoming birth of our second son, the best recommendation I can give.

Annely was amazing at my birth… My husband was a great support but Annely took it to the next level. She was always available to me and gave me such encouraging words of support. I always tell people the the best thing you can do for yourself and for your baby when you are pregnant is hire a doula (even if you are planning to have an epidural like I did). Because every birth is so different, I would not hesitate to have her help in the future whenever #2 comes along.
