Specialties
Located along the shores of Carlsbad, California, Army and Navy Academy is a college preparatory, military-style boarding and day school for boys in grades 7 through 12. It is the only private boarding school in San Diego County. Army and Navy Academy is accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS).
The Academy is truly a school built for boys, focused on how they learn and what motivates them. By employing the JROTC leadership model, boys learn both the principles and practices of leadership. They gain self-confidence, independence, and the motivation to achieve their goals.
The Academy offers a rigorous daily schedule, including formations, classes, tutorial period, sports, and mandatory study time. Academic support systems include: tutorial, assigned counselor, mandatory study time, and homework tracking. Full college planning services are also provided.
The Academy offers both day and boarding options. On the weekends, boys can stay on campus or return home on open weekends. Excursions, trips, and various activities are available during the weekends.
During the summer, the campus is transformed into a full summer program offering facility rentals and camps. The ANA camps include: Academic Enrichment, Recreation, and Leadership.

Meet the Manager
Candace H.
Manager
For the past eight years, Candace Heidenrich has served the Academy as the Director of Admission. What inspires her most is the transformation she witnesses on a daily basis. When prospective families visit, a young man may lack the confidence and motivation to move his life forward. At the Academy, she sees young men setting goals, managing their time effectively, and gaining the motivation to truly excel. With extensive experience in private, public, and higher education, along with years in corporate America, she believes Army Navy is «creating tomorrow’s leaders.»
