Why the $ 5 cover? Doesn’t make sense. They would actually make more $ without that cover. Plus, I think the last time I saw a decent looking female in that place was in 2004.

Bartender pretty anal. Establishment pretty weak. Free honey roasted peanuts & mini salted pretzels, but worth it?

Pretty awesome place. its a quiet pool hall during the day for the senior locals and turns into a dance club at night. Good music and cheap drinks.

This is one of my favorite places to hang out ANY day of the week. But my favorite part is the live music! There is ONLY a cover when a band is in the house. Lots of pool tables. Great drink prices FRIDAYS are tacos and draft beers on the deck (So yummy). This place is laid back easy going and full of great people (staff included). I feel safe when I hang out here. VERY clean bathrooms as well! Great big mirror ladies… You know we love that! LOL! :) And the Carlsbad transit station is right across the street so you dont have to drive. Runs until midnight Fri&Sat. Im young and single and I love this place… I guess you just have to come see it for yourself! :)

Mostly rating the beer selection. They serve barely what would be considered beer and is below the selection of most regular bars in the area. Stone IPA and maybe Anchor Steam exhaust the beer options. This is a loud dance club and pool bar.
Switched over to cocktails since the beer wasn’t tasting super fresh. Pretty decent flavors. Super packed and pretty fun. But having to potentially wait in line, pay a cover, and pay for sub-​par beer is a big turn-​off for me.

I like the atmosphere. For the most part staff is friendly except for one bouncer who feels entitled with his security shirt on. Drinks are good at the usual high price but music is good and cover is cheap. Multiple bars so getting a drink isn’t a fight to the death with the person next to you. Overall better than other places around.

Favorite spot in carlsbad, if you want cheap beer Thursday thru sat it’s dollar beer night with either a dj or some local music, smoker frriendly patio in carlsbad and great friendly bartenders

This is a pretty cool spot. Went here for warped tour battles of the bands. Dalmartians were great. Getting the $ 1 beer was cool and someone gave me a free Budweiser (Usually don’t drink that but it was free.)
Alexa was awesome as usual. Oddball was cool. Funny story, this drunk transvestite said he was in love with me. He said he was in love with my hair. Then he said he was in love with my nose. He kissed his hand and put it on my cheek lol. Umm, that was interesting I guess. Lol this other guy showed me a picture of a guy who looks like me.

Terrible experience here! If there was the option to give 0 stars I would. I’ve been here a few times and haven’t had a problem but last night the staff was extremely rude. The security guards, Reggie & Rico, of course asked for identification and when I showed them my card (saying that I am in fact of age) they still wouldn’t let me in. They claimed my id wasn’t me. They then asked for a credit card with my name on it, which I had and showed them yet they still didn’t let me in. Not only are they TERRIBLE at their jobs they were extremely rude.
Never coming back!

If could give no stars I would. Randomly walked in with a friend didn’t realize there was a 5.00 cover to stand in the empty bar with a bad fog machine until this little spinner chased after us. We decided to leave and she pointed to an ATM that I’m sure drug deals and prostitution have been involved with.

Hearing this cool band, The Art Dealers, play tonight. It’s a Thursday night, $ 5 cover after 8:00. Bartenders are pretty cool. They have a bunch of pool tables. Lots of room to dance.

I went back and forth between three and four stars but being one of the venues in town that has been going as long as I can attend concerts is still going strong. Four stars is for the great bands and support for local bands they always have. I am huge into the local music scene and over the 15 plus years I have probably attended this venue the most. Yes, even more then belly up! WHY? Because its free cover before nine which I don’t mind showing up when the place is still empty, Im in my 30s and prefer to sit out on the patio for the dollar beers before Nine then go inside for the bands once the cheap beer buzz has kicked in :) Baller on a budget!
The bad is if its not a band night its usually a lot of half naked drunk chicks out looking for that one marine that will get them drunk and sweep them off their feet. I leave about the time that crowd shows up anyways. Dance floor gets full, and bar is usually quick with the drinks.

Way too many bouncers a little too overzealous to kick someone out. They can’t be making a profit judging by the amount of bouncers they have standing at the front door alone and kicking out their patrons.

Consistently the Tuesday $ 5 Shot and Beer special is great! Not many people come. Not sure if it’s because no one knows about it or they aren’t into Boar’s vibe. However I will only go on the weekdays because on the weekends, they’re starting to charge cover, which isn’t necessarily a big deal, but the bouncers are RIDICULOUS! Not in a good way. Look buddy, this is Boar’s Head, not the Four Seasons, so please leave the jerkiness at home. If you decide to come on a day where they are charging cover, they only accept cash, so bring some green or be prepared to fork over some green (there’s an ATM inside).
Unless it’s Halloween (which they were charging $ 20 for cover), I don’t see many people come in! One time my friend and I wanted to go bar hopping through Carlsbad and since there’s a big window in front, you can see if it’s poppin’ or not, there was NO ONE inside. What happened people?! It’s unfortunate because they actually have a bunch of space for you to get white girl wasted and dance your ass to Britney Spears and not piss off the Pool Shark who’s trying to sink the ball into the socket.

Security and staff are rude, showing no sign of hospitality. I was told not to stand in multiple locations throughout the bar which not only made for a tense situation but directed me towards the front door immediately and out of the building. The cover fee was not worth it.

This place sucks… 8:30 pm I went in and they charged me 5 bucks at the door on a Thursday night, whatever I’ll pay it, went to the dollar beer in the back and they don’t have blue moon only have Budweiser … Then my friend comes in and I say I had to pay 5 dollars and he said «really? I didn’t pay anything» this place needs to get their crap together … Don’t screw people on money and have beer in stock!

I’ve been here multiple times having girls night out, we only go on Friday or Saturday nights so it’s more of a night club scene with Top 40 hits and electronic/​EDM tracks thrown in to the mix. The DJ is always on point, I enjoy the music the most. We usually steer clear of the pool room, but the layout of the bar is right in the center of the floor plan, which makes it easy to flow and circulate around once the dance floor gets too hot and you need a breather.
You will spot plenty of Marines getting rowdy, fun locals including a 60+ year old Grandpa who is a regular on the weekends and dances/​creeps on the hot chicks. It was a bit off-​putting at first, but as time has gone on– he adds to the appeal and is seemingly the bar mascot of sorts.
I always have a good time, the bouncers are very attentive. I myself have gotten kicked out before, but I probably deserved it so I trust their judgement. They will bring you water if they see you’re too intoxicated, the staff is always very nice and the drinks are very affordable.

I arrived at boars a little bit skeptical after doing my homework reading all the mixed Unilocal reviews. A few of my friends refused to come here with me saying it’s dirty and sketchy. I decided to give it a try because it’s closer to home and I kind of enjoy the sketchy bars sometimes (haha).
I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun my friends and I had. There was a $ 5 cover charge but I think that’s pretty minimal as the drinks were cheap and the bartenders were super cool. I didn’t spend more than $ 5 on the drinks I purchased. Normally, I spend a lot of time at some of the more «trendy» bars in Encinitas, I definitely preferred the atmosphere that Boars offered. The people there were a lot more laid back and fun. Yes, there were a lot of prowling cougars but that didn’t ruin my fun night. Yes, there were a lot of marines but they were all friendly and they made the dance floor a lot more fun. The music was «club» music, it was a Friday night but the DJ did a good job mixing up some oldies and newer songs.
I love how big the place is, so many times I’ve been on crowded dance floors and my hair and makeup immediately becomes ruined, this time it took a good two hours or so for that to happen and they had a few fans that were blowing that really helped.
One of the only downsides was that the girls bathroom was dirty, toilet paper and paper towels all over the ground and there were only two stalls, making the wait take forever. If you go outside the front but have already paid, you do have to wait in line again to get back in but it really didn’t take that long.
My friends and I will definitely be coming back here for the fun atmosphere and cheap drinks.

Drinks, drinks and more drinks. Oh yeah and pool tables. This place is just a straight up bar. They don’t serve anything but cocktails. If you want to drink and you want to spend as little as possible this is the place for you. They often have live music as well. Bands range from Reggae, Punk, Metal to top 20’s DJ. You never know what the vibe will be like. On Fri/​Sat night expect it to almost be a dance club.
Tuesday is beer and shot night — $ 5 for a beer and a shot. They’ll serve you pretty much anything except top shelf or some sort of Stone double IPA.
Thursday is $ 1 beer night. On the back patio you can enjoy Bluemoon for a $ 1 a beer. They also have live music on Thursdays.
