Carlsbad Pediatric Dental Care

It’s Wednesday. Been calling all afternoon and keep getting voicemail. Thought maybe they were out at lunch at first (1:30pm?). But now it’s almost three.

I cannot say enough great things about this dentist office!
That’s saying a lot because an honest, reliable, caring dentist is
Extremely hard to find.
My son has needed extensive dental work over the past few years and both Dr. Rick and Dr. Marta have walked us through it to make it as easy and stress free as it could possibly be.
They are both very personable, easy to talk to and don’t make you feel like they just want your money. They are actual real dentists. I will continue to refer anyone there who is looking for great dental care for their children.

Dr. Rick is an amazing Ped-​Dentist. Very kind, thorough, honest, caring and wonderful with children. He worked with an anesthesiologist from Loma Linda to sedate my 18 month old son to fix his teeth. Wonderful and kind.

I took my kids to one of those über commercial fancy pediatric dental offices with flat screens and impressively decorated kids’ waiting areas. The staff was very pleasant and my girls did very well. But when the dentist told me they had to put my 3 year old under sedation just to take xrays of her molars (after she did very well with the other xrays), fill 2 cavities, and a possible baby root canal. I decided to get a second opinion. I was referred to Dr. Penman by my sister in law who had a similar first time experience and said Dr. Penman was the most patient understanding dentist. I was blown away! Not only did Dr. Marta Penman speak to me personally and set the appointment to fit my working mom’s schedule, but she walked me through what would happen: «let’s start out doing a consultation and xrays. then if she seems like she can handle getting some work done while you’re there, then let’s do it. We’ll take cues from her and only do what she’s comfortable with.»
So we get to the appointment and not only was Dr. Marta able to take the molar xrays with NO SEDATION, but she said the cavities didn’t need to be filled! This is a small office with no bells and whistles. But I like that because we know the girls will always see either Dr. Marta Penman or her husband, Dr. Richard Penman. THANK GOD WE FOUND DR MARTA!!!

My second daughter, Don’t-Care-As-Long-As-It’s-Food, aspires to becoming a dentist, and having great respect for Dr. Marta on the volleyball court, asked if she might shadow her in her Pediatric Dental office. The doctor graciously assented, and provided great tips and instruction all while putting her young patients at ease. D.C. was so impressed with Dr. Marta’s rapport with children that it made me wish I could turn back the clock so all my kids could experience the fun of visiting her office. Being the recipient of some of her hand-​eye coordination with a volleyball, I harbor no doubts about her fine motor skills!

I am so grateful that my kids are patients of Dr Marta!
First, she has an amazing gift for working with kids. My boys LOVED her. She was warm, caring, fun and informative. Both of my boys love seeing her. After just one visit to her they no longer fight the bedtime ritual of brushing and flossing their teeth every night. THANK YOU DR. MARTA!!!
Second, last weekend my 3 year old took a boomerang in the teeth and to my horror his front two bottom teeth were dislodged. I called Dr Marta right away. She met me at her office 45 minuted later with a smile on her face. She took care of him right away and was as wonderful as always. I am sure we interrupted her personal time (it was Sunday afternoon) she never made me feel like I was «bothering her.» I cannot express how grateful I was that she is our dentist and in an emergency my family has someone that we can rely on to take care of us!!!

Dr. Rick & Dr. Marta are AMAZING with the kids. I remember growing up dreading the dentist. My kids look forward to it! Very relaxed atmosphere, they make it fun and the kids never, ever complain about going. They’ve also made great referrals for orthodontics and other dental specialists. They’re the best!
