Carlsbad Tax and Accounting started off as a home based business while the owner gathered additional experience working for others to better assist his growing clientele. The office located at 2551 State Street was established in March 2014.

Sean Edward C.

Business Owner

The owner is an Enrolled Agent (EA) with eight years of experience. EA is a title awarded by the IRS after passing three rigorous exams on individual taxes, business taxes, and ethics, and passing a tax compliance and background check. This title enables Sean to prepare individual, business and other entities (e.g. trusts, estates, and non-​profits) tax returns, and grants unlimited practice rights before the IRS. Sean has worked with fellow EAs, CPAs, and Attorneys, and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

I found Sean online through Unilocal.I met him in Carlsbad at his office and he walked me through the process and answered my questions.
He took all of my documents electronically which was my preferred method.
My wife and I had a relatively complex tax year with different business income, expenses and write offs. His price was the best I could find.

As someone who has zero knowledge about taxes, I was definitely clueless on what Sean was doing for me. During our short but memorable encounter, Sean made me feel like I was a very important customer who came to his office. He dealt with my tax declaration in a very professional degree and tried to explain every difficult detail in simpler terms. The results of his work? Well, aside from properly declared taxes, I obtained a refund which I never thought was possible!

Contacted Sean regarding bookkeeping services for my small business and from our first meeting he has helped me tremendously. Absolutely the best tax experience I have ever had. Sean was thorough, conscientious and actually made the process fun. He managed to get me a 20K refund. He really knows his «stuff». I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone (which is rare for me). Go see Sean. You won’t be disappointed. Other people in my same tax situation paid way more for the same amount of income. Sean simply knows more than other people in his specialty. I make it a point to stay out of other people’s financial business but Sean is worth breaking one of my own rules. I would give him 10 stars if I could.

I met with Sean and I found his knowledge of taxes were inferior to H&R Block. I received less of a refund. He was also condescending to me as a woman. Go to someone with better qualifications and more time in this game as EA credentials are given out very easily, where CPA credentials are hard to get. I do not recommend him.

I met Sean for the first time two weeks ago to get my Taxes done, as well as ask a few college loans. Sean was easily approachable, answered all my question and if you couldn’t he had the resource to assist me, and as well as he realizes that no one wants to spend the day trying to do their own taxes. He was able to get my taxes done with great timing and also at a good price.
I’ve already had a couple friends get their taxes done by Sean! I highly recommend Sean and his small business, you wouldn’t be disappointed. I definitely will be going back to Sean next year.

I found Sean and Carlsbad Tax through Unilocal 2 years ago — even though he was just 2 buildings down at the time. I have been using his book keeping services ever since.
I am a small business owner in my 6th year of business, and comparing the last two years to the four prior I find that the use of Sean’s services have allowed me to get more done and consistently make more money — greatly exceeding the cost of his work. He has also helped me to identify items in my marketing and ongoing expenses that did not make sense — and even recommend alternatives. At this point I do not think I could afford to be without him.
I interviewed several other accountants and bookkeepers before going with Sean. Most of them immediately pitched me on schemes that made me uncomfortable, or their overly aggressive, fake marketing reminded me of being in a law office (and I assumed with legal-​scale fees to follow). Sean, on the other hand, I am comfortable with — this is very important when it comes to my private business info!
