History
Established in 1991.
The Johnson family has been in the auto body repair business in California since 1978. Note that Johnson’s Auto Body on State Street is not affiliated with our family at all. It was sold to another party in 1983 and the family owned other shops until finally settling at 3191 Tyler Street in 1991. In 2002 Ruth and Russ Johnson decided to semi-retire and that is when their son, Jeff Johnson, assumed a management role at Carlsbad Village Auto Body and Paint. In 2009 Jeff and his wife, Shanna, purchased the business from Ruth and Russ so they could completely retire in Arizona. Carlsbad Village Auto Body, Inc. is family owned and operated by Jeff and Shanna.
Meet the Business Owner
Jeff J.
Business Owner
Jeff’s passion for working on cars was prominent at an early age as he and his dad, Russ Johnson, restored old Mopar muscle cars during their free time. His first job at the shop was that of painter’s assistant where he helped prep the cars for paint, wash cars, and do any necessary odd job Russ needed from him. In 2002, Jeff was presented with the option to learn the entire business and assume the role of manager while his parents semi-retired. There was no doubt this was what Jeff wanted to do. After 7 years of running the shop, Jeff, and his wife, Shanna, purchased it from his parents, Russ and Ruth. Jeff runs the entire operation at the shop daily.
