Owner of «Crust Pizzeria» in Carlsbad, California is executive chef, Charlie Meola. With over forty years of experience, this Sicilian pizzaiolo from New York City has brought his famous authentic artisan pizzas to coastal California. Six days a week you can find Meola immersed in dough and a myriad of fresh, local and some imported toppings that keep his patron’s mouths watering for more. When it comes to pizza, Meola is a purist, making unforgettable pizzas, with every dish, aiming to enhance the true flavors of superior ingredients. Meola’s magic touch infuses his pizzerias with soul and his approach to pizza creation often provokes an emotional response from his diners.

This has become our local go-​to spot for high end casual dinning. The ingredients and quality of their food is on par with many local fine dinning restaurants at half the price. They keep a regular rotation of high end craft beers which I especially enjoy. (BP Navigator is a new beer I absolutely can’t get enough of). Love that this is practically in our backyard, five stars !!!

We went here after going on a hot air balloon ride and it was just what we needed. The place was pretty busy since they were doing a Mother’s Day promo, but our server Andrea was quick to greet us. She was the only server in the restaurant but kept a smile on her face the whole time even though she was definitely stretched thin with how many tables were there. Our food was great and we will definitely come back if we are in the area.

We came in with some local friends for the first time and will definitely be back. The staff was so friendly and accommodating from the first face of the hostess, on to the charming waitress to the cheerful busboy. The menu has a great variety with pizza, pasta and even a poke salad. The wine selection was impressive and prices are very reasonable. I wish we had a Crust Pizzeria in my neighborhood!

I never ever eat pizza as I am a rather healthy eater and calorie counter figure conscious female. However, my 18 year old son and I dined at Crust on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 — and the overwhelming wonderful aroma, cheery vibe, menu description and proclamation of daily fresh homemade dough — I decided to spurge on a pizza. When it arrived I had my doubts it could taste as good as it looked. But, the pizza was as good as it looked! In fact, it was amazingly heavenly! The hostess Sydney was kind and courteous and informed us the owner was behind the counter throwing his pizza dough. Of course, I had to introduce myself and compliment him on his great food. I thought I had willpower over pizza, until I ate at Crust. Now, all I can think of is — when can I return!!! PS: they do have a great selections of fresh salads too!

We love coming to Crust for any easy, tasty and well priced meal. They pizza is very good with tons of topping choices and great fresh yummy salads! We love calamari and the wings too! Wednesday wine night is a good deal too. It is our neighborhood «go to»!

Amazing service and food. This was our second trip on a Wednesday after my girls softball game and as most parents know on a school night after a sporting event you just want to eat and get home. Shannon our server both times has been amazing and accommodating to my picky family. We would return just to have her again as well as the Wednesday ½ off wine bottles. Thanks again crust for a great night!

I have been coming to Crust for over 2 years. The food the staff and the patrons are fantastic. The variety on the menu will satisfy any craving. Their pizzas are top notch. Wine and beer selection wonderful and nice TVs if you want to watch sporting events. Great for the family as well. It’s the perfect place for any mood. Try the Kelly pizza.

Worst family experience ever!!!
Called ahead to see if busy, they said no. Waitress took our order, never saw her again until we got the check. Never got a beer we ordered. We waited forever, then got our food. My mother in law never got hers. I told the manager she said sorry I will take the meatballs off the bill. Got the bill there they were, she was there so I asked her «here they are»
She said oh I took a dollar off!!!

I usually don’t feel the need to post, having to have a truly horrible experience that must be known. I must say that my experience with both Crust AND Andrea B. was excellent. I must have been in a different reality bubble than Angela S. and her crew. The food, the service and the bread (which came promptly when asked) were great! My personal experience is, that time and experiences can feel different then they truly are, when dealing with an extended family (kids and such). Basically, I find that there are truly horrible serving experiences to write about, maybe lay off on the trashing a specific person unless it is actually deserved. I have no affiliation with the restaurant or stated server. I just believe in being fair, especially when a job could be on the line.

Nice relaxing place to eat. Food was delicious but the service could have been better. Our waitress didnt seem happy and unfocused. After awhile of ordering our food we asked for the complimentary bread and dip we saw when we looked the place up. She didn’t bring it til we were done eating. So its the reason scored it 3 stars. There was only 2 other people in the place would hate to see service on a day that it was busy.
We had the turkey pesto sandwich, house salad, Big Sexy pasta all I would recommend. The Clemenza sandwich was just ok Im not big on warm bologna so thank god it had sweet peppers on it to cover the taste.

After coming here for the fourth time, I figured I should review it finally!
I’m in love with the meatballs! The only other time I’ve had meatballs THAT good was from my Italian friends Mom’s kitchen! (Say that 5x fast lol)
The pizzas are all unique with different ladies names-​which builds the intrigue. I hear they are utilizing farm to table produce, which is very appealing to me.
I’m excited to have found an Italian place that exceeds my expectations in flavor. Service is great too!

You can get a salad, jumbo slice of pizza (cheese or pepperoni), and drink for $ 8! I stopped by in the early evening for a meal.
The woman who was behind the bar also came over to take care of my order and bring out my food. She was nice and great about checking on me.
I had a slice of the pepperoni pizza, and the restaurant is aptly named, because the crust is indeed notable. The salad was really yummy! The server had a lot of good things to say about the salads here, so I’m definitely going to come back to try more of those on the menu. The house salad that I had here was better than the typical house salad I’ve had at most restaurants.

Stopped in for a bite — loved what I had. I’m trying to watch my carb intake, so unfortunately I didn’t get to try the pizza :(so I had the spicy new Orleans shrimp app (Amazing) and loved the house salad and homemade croutons with their mint vinaigrette! I felt like I cheated but I really didn’t…hehe!

I must admit that I was a bit disappointed after walking into the restaurant for the first time. It felt bland, lacking any personality. It had a few TVs with football games showing, but overall it felt a bit sterile and uninspired (forgive me for even going there — probably not language typical for a pizza joint). But that’s how I felt.
The food, however, was a different story. While I can’t speak for the entire menu, MY pizza was good. I built my own with sausage, garlic, and arugula. It really was tasty and satisfying. Service was good as well.
So will i come back? I can see myself ordering a pizza to go if I had that craving, but I wouldn’t come back to dine in the restaurant as it stands today. Maybe after another year or two, it will have collected some personality or visual interest, but it hasn’t yet.

My husband and I just moved into a new place around the corner from Crust and we were so excited to have a pizza place near by. We decided to try it out on a Friday night and they had a pretty full place. We were told the wait would be about 20 minutes so we decided to grab a drink and hang out. Happy hour drink prices were really good and we ended up getting seated after about 15 minutes of waiting.
We both ordered a pizza and split a salad and everything was fabulous. The pizza crust was by far the best I’ve had and everything was so fresh! We will definitely be back again and again!

had one of the lunch specials — half an ITALIAN BEEF SANDWICH (shaved roast beef, au jus dip, provolone, giardiniere on a grinder roll), a small house salad (mixed greens, grape tomatoes, feta, cucumbers, croutons and feta-​oregano dressing) and a pickle slice.

had to stop on my lunch break and normally would not have picked a pizza place being that i dont eat meat or cheese. However, I was very impressed! I got the veggie sandwich and a side salad. everything was fresh and delicious.
it was also wine Wednesday so of course I had to partake in that. The waitress, Christina was very helpful in my selection, she was also very attentive and pleasant!
